The “94% of athletic departments lose money” statistic is doing a lot of work here.Athletics is, in this respect, exactly like the math department. The university does not ordinarily ask whether mathematics “generated enough revenue” to cover the salaries, classrooms, scholarships, and administrative costs associated with teaching math. It decides the activity advances the institution’s mission and subsidizes it accordingly.

The Protect College Sports Act is wild. Taxpayer aid for poor kids is socialism, but 20-year-old Black athletes should subsidize Elizabeth’s rowing team with the money they generate. Redistribution is only a problem when it doesn’t come from a Black athlete’s pocket.

Last week, Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) released a new whistleblower report that details how U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) directed its officers to investigate dozens of people’s registration and voting records. In doing so, the agency searched through dozens of voter files each day using faulty data.
If these claims are corroborated, DHS could be on the hook for thousands of state violations.
Time and time again, the Trump administration proves that they’re willing to go to new lengths to prove their election fraud lies. But, we’re working to hold them accountable.

The Iran War *is* a local issue. The farmers in rural America absolutely know this, as does everyone else at the gas tank.
Republicans have gotten away with lying to their voters in the past b/c these same voters haven’t felt the *direct* impact of these lies. The impact has largely been distant in time. That’s not the case, now.
Voters are not going to react well to being lied to over this war and its impact on their lives. This includes the Republican base.
Some Republicans, like Hinson, in Iowa, are getting the memo. She came out against the war yesterday. Probably too late, given she voted for it multiple times. But she did get the memo.
In contrast, Vance & others are flying too close to the sun. They’ve gotten away with so many lies they feel insulated. They’re about to learn differently.
