Conservatives Pushing For Statewide Withdrawal From Medicaid

Some Republican lawmakers — still reveling in Tuesday’s statewide election sweep — are proposing an unprecedented solution to the state’s estimated $25 billion budget shortfall: dropping out of the federal Medicaid program.
I’m serious folks. It’s getting really scary. Please pray for my state before these hateful people destroy it.

Hat tip, Booky
The rightwing media won the elections
It took George Bush and his gang 8 years to destroy or demonize the “Republican brand” to the point that all Republicans in congress that voted almost 100% with George Bush wouldn’t call themselves Republicans for the next 2 years (Magically transformed into fiscal conservatives).
President Obama being elected and there were celebrations all over the World, not because of people loved Obama so much or because of his color, but the whole World was celebrating that George Bush, the Republican right-wing nightmare was finally over, as if we had overthrown a World-Wide dictator.
How did the “Democratic Brand” go from World-Wide celebration, to losing an election 2 years later? …. The only answer I have is “Rightwing media monopoly” that ranges from extreme far right Glenn Beck on radio & TV all the way to the center-right NPR that gave 1000s of “un-biased” hours of airtime to the Teaparty.

Obama signals tough stance on prickly India issues
NEW DELHI | Wed Nov 3, 2010 12:43pm EDT
NEW DELHI (Reuters) – Days ahead of his visit to India, President Barack Obama has signaled he will take a tough stance on prickly issues such as outsourcing, and limits on exports of sensitive technology.
Indian news agency Press Trust of India (PTI), which interviewed Obama on Wednesday, quoted him as saying it was “very difficult and complicated” to meet key Indian expectations such as ending a ban on U.S. exports of dual-use technology to India.
New Delhi wants the United States to allow exports of dual-use technology, which can be used for both civilian and military purposes and which was banned after India carried out nuclear tests in 1998.
“Our teams continue to work hard to reach an agreement that strengthens the international non-proliferation system while treating India in a manner that is consistent with our strategic partnership,” Obama told PTI news agency.
Obama’s visit will come days after his Democrats were punished in mid-term elections over the sluggish economic recovery and high domestic unemployment. These problems have heightened tensions over the outsourcing of American jobs to low-cost countries like India.

Stand firm, Mr. President! Make the Rethugs look like assholes, because if they don’t agree to extend tax cuts for the middle class and continue holding out for tax cuts for the rich, he’ll have called these MOFOs out for the greedy, ruthless, SOULESS bastards they are.

GOP PLAN HIT FROM ALL SIDES
Tea Party Thinks It’s Not Enough … Economists Think It Doesn’t Make Sense
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/06/gop-plan-hit-on-all-sides_n_779880.html#comments
Republicans are mapping an agenda for the new Congress that calls for a radical reduction in government spending, a hard-line stance against new taxes and a “sustained” battle against federal regulators – all aimed at easing the concerns of voters desperate for jobs and anxious about the soaring national debt.
This is great news!! They are going to overreach and it is going to create an economic disaster…there is already water on board the ship…and the GOP is about to torpedo the ship…it is going to drown the white ‘working class’…like they have never seen…only their grandparents can tell them what it was like in the 30s.
O what a web we weave when first we practice to decieve.
This is gonna be sad but necessary for them to WTFU!!
LMAO!!!….folks already broke and homeless and the GOP about to YANK the safety net….let these folks choke on their anger anger and chew on the bile of their bitterness that their votes have wrought…lets see how content and full their bellies are when the GOP pulls off this strategy:
“Republicans offer “a disciplined approach to removing uncertainty and to allowing the private sector to regain its footing and begin to grow again,” Cantor said in an interview. “Trying to prod business to do what Washington wants is not what is needed. We need to rein in this desire of Washington to tell business how to grow.”
That hands-off strategy – combined with GOP plans for an immediate and dramatic reduction in government spending – would do more harm than good, said Bill Gale, a senior fellow in economics studies at the Brookings Institution.

“I don’t get what they think they’re doing to stimulate the economy right now,” Gale said. “I can understand that people are angry or upset about the economy. But I can’t understand how that anger and anxiety has turned into this set of legislative proposals.”
To make good on their campaign pledge to reduce the size of government, Republicans say they are planning a series of quick moves to slash spending soon after they take control of the House in January. Among the likely options: a massive rescissions package that aides said would slice 20 percent from most domestic agency budgets and enact $160 billion in additional cuts endorsed by visitors to Cantor’s “YouCut” Web site.
Such a package would trim more than $260 billion from this year’s $1.1 trillion budget for most government operations – the biggest one-year reduction at least since the military drawdown after World War II, budget experts said.
Because Republicans propose to exempt the Pentagon, veterans programs and homeland security from these cuts, liberal analysts said the reductions would decimate education funding, the National Park Service and other worthy programs.”

I went to see Colored Girls last night. The acting was outstanding…all the main characters had superb performances…excellent. I just am not a fan of the theme it was just too depressing listening to all those woe stories. The recitation of the poems was beautiful by the characters but it was just sad.
I thought it was profound when the part was read about how colored women refused to be sad cause colored and sad are just redundant.
IIRC, I think Vettte is going to see it this week-end. I’ll have to check it out too.
Morning, beautiful ladies! I slept in this morning, and I feel wonderful!
I saw For Colored Girls last night too. It was a profoundly moving pic. And as with the play, it showcased the many levels of black women in all their glory, misery, beauty, complexities, woes, sorrows, joys, failures, and triumps. We live our lives fully, and we can move through these experiences in all their various shades, we chose to live LIFE, instead of dying.
I thought it interesting in the marque at the theater I attended, they did not place the entire title of the movie. For ex., “For Colored G.”
The acting was superb!
Morning, Ametia!
I thought it interesting in the marque at the theater I attended, they did not place the entire title of the movie. For ex., “For Colored G.”
Hmmmmm… wonder why?
hint: This movie is for and about BLACK folks!
YUP
Seriously, while the movie featured Black actors and actresses, our stories depict the suffering and triumps of HUMANS.
Black men and women are HUMANS, first. Folks will say the movie is dark and depressing, and it is some of that too, but the layers are of evolution are there.
What I took from the movie is you’ve got to claim all of who you are, have been and will be. Why claim the end results, and deny the full journey it took for you to arrive.
Hello everyone
Good Morning Dannie!
Good Morning 3Chics!!…Ametia and SG!
Good Morning, Dannie, Opulent & 3 Chics! Morning, CAPD!
