Elizabeth Edwards, Mother, Attorney, Wife, Activist, Dies At 61

Elizabeth Anania Edwards (born Mary Elizabeth Anania) (July 3, 1949 – December 7, 2010[2]) was an attorney and a best-selling author. At the time of her death, she was separated from her husband John Edwards, the former U.S. Senator from North Carolina who was the 2004 United States Democratic vice-presidential nominee.

    So sad. EE fought the good fight. I read her last FB entry it was poignant:

    “The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that. And yes, there are certainly times when we aren’t able to muster as much strength and patience as we would like. It’s called being human. But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious.”

    Elizabeth Edwards funeral set for Saturday

    Elizabeth Edwards’s funeral and burial are scheduled for Saturday in Raleigh, N.C.
    Services will be at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in Raleigh at 1 p.m., according to the funeral home handling the arrangements. The News-Observer reported that the burial will take place in a private service at Oakwood Cemetery, also in Raleigh.

    Edwards will be buried next to her son, Wade, who died in a car accident at age 16 in 1996.
    Edwards’s family has launched elizabeth-edwards.org, which includes a section where visitors can submit remembrances. Family members ask that contributions be made to the Wade Edwards Learning Lab, a free computer and learning center founded after Wade’s death.
