TLC is an American R&B girl group, originally consisting of lead singer Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. Although originally conceived as “2nd Nature”, the group’s name was later changed to “TLC” by their manager before they were signed to LaFace Records in 1991.[4]

The group achieved commercial success following the release of their debut album Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip, which was certified quadruple-platinum by the RIAA[5] and spawned the top-ten hits “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg“, “Baby-Baby-Baby“, and “What About Your Friends?“. Their second album, CrazySexyCool (1994), is the only album by a female group to be awarded diamond certification by the RIAA, for selling over 11 million copies in the United States alone.[6] Two of the album’s singles, “Creep[7] and “Waterfalls“,[8] topped the Billboard Hot 100. Their third studio album, FanMail reached #1 on the Billboard 200 and spawned two #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, No Scrubs and Unpretty. Despite their success, the members of TLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1995.[9]

I am soo ready for this movie tomorrow night on VH1. TLC is and will always be my favorite group til the day that I die! Their chemistry wasn’t something just fabricated by industry execs; it was real. I love them forever and still play all 4 albums like they are brand new.

  3. Report: Vick nixes Oprah interview

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Michael-Vick-Philadelphia-Eagles-cancels-Oprah-Winfrey-TV-interview-021611/?GT1=39002

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick has canceled his planned appearance for Wednesday on the Oprah Winfrey show, CNBC.com reported.

The interview had been scheduled to air on Feb. 24. No reason was given for the cancellation.

Vick, 30, was supposed to discuss his history in dog fighting as well as his upbringing and NFL career. Vick has appeared on local radio and television in recent weeks to discuss his future.

The veteran signal caller has made it clear that he wants to return to the team next season. The Eagles used their one-year exclusive franchise tag designation for Vick on Tuesday.

Oprah Winfrey had to pull out of a bet with fellow talk show host Piers Morgan to land her interview with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, showbiz news agency WENN reported Tuesday.

But in order to land the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year, Vick’s agent told both the TV personalities the quarterback did not want to be associated with gambling and that they would have to withdraw their friendly bet that Winfrey would land the interview first.

Morgan enticed Winfrey into the £200 (US$320) wager when she was a guest on his first show on CNN. On Tuesday, Morgan said the bet no longer stood.

“I feel absolutely gutted … although I haven’t technically lost,” the Brit said.

“Here’s what happened: I bet Oprah £200 for this interview, and then a mysterious thing happened at the end of last week, where Michael Vick’s agent rang us both up and said, ‘He can’t be party to gambling so he’ll only do an interview with either of you if you withdraw the bet.'”

Morgan said Winfrey, “quick as lightning,” went on Twitter and posted: “Dear Piers, I’m withdrawing the bet, I don’t know why I let you talk me into it, I still love you, Oprah.”

“The moment I saw that, I knew what that meant was, if she did that on Twitter, she was in the clear and she had him in the bag,” Morgan said.

“You shouldn’t pick a fight with Oprah Winfrey, right?”

I wouldn’t have ever agreed to go on the show. Vick has paid his due!

I glad Vick decided not to do Oprah’s show or anybody’s for that matter. the more he goes on these shows and tell the same story, the more it keeps the fake-assed PETA punks and other crazed, unforgiving fools fodder to attack him about the dog fighting. Vick has served his time for the crime.

Somehow, I think white folks wanted Oprah to have Vick on her show, so that she could pound him for the past dogfighting. They could get their jollies seeing the routund, black mammy figure, Oprah, chastise the black boy-child Vick. It’s their sick fantasy. I’m glad he’s elected not to be a part of it.

  5. Scott Brown Recalls Childhood Sexual Abuse In 60 Minutes Interview (VIDEO)

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/16/scott-brown-sexual-abuse_n_824159.html

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) reveals that he was sexually abused as a child multiple times in an interview scheduled to air on CBS’ “60 Minutes” on Sunday evening.

In discussing the matter with Lesley Stahl, Brown explains that he hadn’t even told his mother about what happened. The Republican senator recalls suffering sexual abuse on several occasions when he was young by a camp counselor and also living with an abusive stepfather.

“That’s what happens when you’re a victim,” explains Brown of his reluctance to tell his mother what occurred. “You’re embarrassed. You’re hurt.”

Speaking directly to what happened with the camp counselor, Brown says that “nothing was ever fully consummated,” but that he had been forced to engage in unwanted sexual contact. Looking back, he explains, “It was certainly, back then, very traumatic.”

“As predators do… He said ‘If you tell anybody…I’ll kill you. I will make sure that nobody believes you,” recalls Brown of being threatened by the counselor.

The interview with Brown comes just before the release of memoir Against All Odds. The Senator details the traumatic experiences he endured in the book.

Jay Carney’s first White House briefing: Standing room only
    By Perry Bacon Jr.
    Washington Post Staff Writer
    Wednesday, February 16, 2011; 3:11 PM

Day One was a victory for the new White House press secretary: no gaffes.

Jay Carney fielded almost two dozen questions Wednesday, mainly on the federal budget, in his new role as perhaps the second most visible figure in the U.S. government.

Carney, who had served as Vice President Biden’s communications director, replaced Robert Gibbs, the longtime adviser to President Obama who was the press secretary from the start of the administration until last week.

Carney’s first noon briefing was a highly anticipated event in political Washington. It was standing room only, completely packed with photographers and writers – many of whom rarely attend the sessions.

He entered the room with a half-dozen aides from the White House press office, a much larger entourage than usually accompanied Gibbs.

Carney seemed earnest at times, discussing his new job by saying, “I do work for the president, but I’m here to help the press understand what we’re doing.” But pressed on the budget, he joked, “I’m not an economist, and I know you’ve heard that phrase before.” Gibbs had often announced what he was “not” as he sidestepped questions.

Carney employed all of the tactics press secretaries have long used to avoid questions, referring queries about foreign policy to the State Department, refusing to answer hypothetical questions and using phrases such as “the president is committed to” and then repeating talking points.

He stayed cool through persistent questioning about why Obama refused to offer a specific proposal in his budget to overhaul Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

“He led for two years,” Carney said. “This is a president who has done big things. He has tackled hard issues.”

Carney made no major news and didn’t offer much fresh insight into Obama’s thinking. That made the event a success for the administration but a bit frustrating for journalists.

Carney is used to being on camera, as he often spoke as a political analyst in his previous career as a Time magazine journalist. But standing at a podium answering questions on a wide range of issues is a different experience, and White House officials had spent the weeks since Carney was named to the post preparing him in mock sessions.

He seemed a bit nervous at first, looking carefully at his notes as he answered the first questions. But near the end, he even answered a hypothetical.

LMBAO Now who wouldn’t want to see Rev. Al “getting on the good foot?”

They snagged Tom DeLay and Tucker Carlson, but the producers of “Dancing With the Stars” won’t get one politico: the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Sharpton said he’s been asked on several occasions to join the reality show but recently told TMZ: “I just turned them down again.”

“You have to have your priorities,” said Sharpton. “It’s different taking one night [to do] ‘Saturday Night Live’ and taking weeks to do ‘Dancing With the Stars.'”

Besides, said Sharpton, he’d steal the show.
“I got moves! I’d blow them out! There’d be no chance for anybody to touch me. But I just don’t have the time.”

  9. Mubarak Has ‘Given Up,’ Wants To Die At Sharm: Saudi Official

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/16/mubarak-has-given-up-want_n_823961.html

Egypt, Feb 16 – Egypt’s ousted president has given up and wants to die in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh where he has been living since a popular uprising ended his rule, a Saudi official said on Wednesday.

Hosni Mubarak, 82, has suffered from health problems in recent years and travelled to Germany for gall bladder surgery in March last year. Reports of a further decline have increased since he stepped down on Friday after three decades in power.

An official in Saudi Arabia said the kingdom had offered to host Mubarak but he was determined to see out his days in Egypt. Official confirmation could not immediately be obtained from the Saudi government.

“He is not dead but is not doing well at all and refuses to leave. Basically, he has given up and wants to die in Sharm,” said the Saudi official, who asked not to be named.

Mubarak vowed to die in Egypt when he addressed the country’s 80 million people last week while still clinging to power.

A source with links to the Mubarak family said on Tuesday that the former president was “fine,” and had been taking telephone calls.

Mubarak spent more and more time at his residence in Sharm el-Sheikh near the end of his time as leader, retreating to the clean air and sea breeze to recover from ailments.

Poll: Most Oppose Cutting Funding for Health Care Reforms
    Posted by Stephanie Condon

CBS News Poll analysis by the CBS News Polling Unit: Sarah Dutton, Jennifer De Pinto, Fred Backus and Anthony Salvanto.

A majority of the public disapproves of the Republican idea to cut off funding for health care reform, a new CBS News poll shows – although most also disapprove of the health care law, and many aren’t sure of its impact on the health care system.

Republicans in Congress have said they intend to do everything in their power to stop President Obama’s health care reforms from going into place – including de-funding provisions of the legislation. Funding for the new health care reforms is one component of the debate Republicans intend to have with the president this year over federal spending, deficit reduction and government regulations.

The new CBS News poll, conducted Feb. 11 – 14, shows that 42 percent of Americans trust Mr. Obama to lower the deficit – and just as many trust Republicans in Congress. Meanwhile, an increasing number of Americans agree with Republicans that government regulates business too heavily.

The president’s overall approval rating stands at 48 percent, similar to last month. Congress’ approval rating is up since last fall, but is still low at 24 percent.

Obama threatens to veto House Republican spending measure
By Sam Youngman and Michael O’Brien – 02/15/11 04:08 PM ET

The Obama administration on Tuesday threatened to veto the House GOP’s measure funding the federal government.

In a statement of administration policy, the Office of Management and Budget said cuts included in the Republican continuing resolution would hamstring the U.S. economy and compromise national security.

“If the president is presented with a bill that undermines critical priorities or national security through funding levels or restrictions, contains earmarks or curtails the drivers of long-term economic growth and job creation while continuing to burden future generations with deficits, the president will veto the bill,” the statement said.

From Prison, Madoff Says Banks ‘Had to Know’ of Fraud

BUTNER, N.C. — Bernard L. Madoff said he never thought the collapse of his Ponzi scheme would cause the sort of destruction that has befallen his family.
In his first interview for publication since his arrest in December 2008, Mr. Madoff — looking noticeably thinner and rumpled in khaki prison garb — maintained that family members knew nothing about his crimes.

But during a private two-hour interview in a visitor room here on Tuesday, and in earlier e-mail exchanges, he asserted that unidentified banks and hedge funds were somehow “complicit” in his elaborate fraud, an about-face from earlier claims that he was the only person involved.

Mr. Madoff, who is serving a 150-year sentence, seemed frail and a bit agitated compared with the stoic calm he maintained before his incarceration in 2009, perhaps burdened by sadness over the suicide of his son Mark in December.
