First Lady Michelle Obama Teams Up With Tennis Stars Andre Agassi & Stefanie Graf to Fight Childhood Obesity

The New York Times

The first lady, Michelle Obama, is teaming up with tennis’s first couple, Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf, in a partnership between the United States Tennis Association and Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign to fight childhood obesity.

As part of the introduction to the partnership, Obama, Agassi and Graf are playing ballpersons in a public service announcement that will be released Monday night during ESPN’s telecast of the BNP Paribas Showdown at Madison Square Garden, an exhibition that features Agassi, Pete Sampras, John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl.

Mrs. Obama announced the “Let’s Move” initiative last February, and has taken its message across the country to encourage children to eat healthfully and exercise 60 minutes a day. The video with Agassi and Graf will promote tennis as one way to spend those 60 minutes.

Our youth can benefit from Let’s Move, if the parents encourage healthy eating and exercise. This is not a mandatory program, but one of information and encouragement. Our kids will win in the end.

    • Pray tell? What parent on the planet would not want their child to eat healthy and be healthy? Fighting childhood obesity now will help prevent medical problems later on in life. It’s so encouraging!

    • Ametia says:

Exactly, and the benefits of healthy eating and exercise will curtail illnesses, thus curtailing medical expenses. Information is power, and believe it or not, some folks don’t want others to be informed. It’s all about power & control.

Folks taking responsibility for their own lives is a POSTIIVE.
