Mine was one of two families selected to represent the State of Georgia at yesterday’s Easter Egg Roll. This wonderful event attended by 33,000 children and their parents/grandparents and they, several hundred volunteers, event performers, program providers, secret service agents, park rangers and special guests. The attendees represented seemingly every possible color in the human rainbow and everyone – including the secret service and volunteers seemed happy to be there.

On the metro ride into the city, a little blond haired girl tapped me on my shoulder and yelled with delight, “I’m going to the Obama’s house!” The look on her face said it all – she was thrilled and so were her parents.

The kids were dressed in their Easter finery, short and flip flops. ballerina tutus and even super-hero capes. They appeared to belong to a single happy family of Americans and despite the heat and the waiting in lines, everyone was in a celebratory mood and seemed happy to share the joy of the event with one another. All of the adults treated each other and the kids with the utmost respect and kindness and for a few hours, we all had a glimpse of what America could be.

The only animosity associated with yesterday’s event is that which has been shared by some of the bitter people posting after the fact. Thank goodness they were nowhere around to infect all of the happy Americans I had an opportunity to be amongst yesterday.

Willow Smith is pretty in plaid as she arrives at the 2011 White House Easter Egg Roll, held on Monday (April 25) in Washington, D.C.

The 10-year-old “21st Century Girl” singer, who was joined by big bro Jaden and her mom and dad, Jada and Will, stepped out for a sound check earlier in the day.

Willow is just one of several performers scheduled for the day’s event, which will bring in 30,000 visitors to the White House’s back lawn – also hitting the stage are Greyson Chance and Colbie Caillat!

Frankly, I’m BORED over articles like this one.

Can we go now, Dad? Sasha Obama looks bored to tears as she listens to her father’s storytelling at White House Easter Egg Roll

Maybe she didn’t like having so many people in her backyard – or perhaps she’s just had enough of her father’s bedtime stories.
Either way, nine-year-old Sasha Obama looked the picture of misery as she listened to the president read out a story at the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll.
While her elder sister Malia managed to summon at least a hint of interest, Sasha seemed thoroughly bored by the whole affair, propping her head up with her hand as she struggled to stay awake.

Apparently, Sasha Obama’s not supposed to get bored, being she’s one of the First Daughters. And just how does this writer know the thoughts of Sasha? GTFOH

    • Just jealous mofos, that’s all. Leave the First Daughters alone beyotches!

    • Leslie says:

Can’t be all that bored, if you took the time to write that whiny post in which you seem to think you can read the minds of two children you’ve never met.

      • Thank you!

Let children be children. These jealous people saw the children and their families having a great time together and they want to find fault so they can criticize. Some are even jealous about the size of the crowd. You never heard that when Bush was in office.
