Michelle Obama lauds US forces in bin Laden raid
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gB4NM2JBKyYu3ezrMCo0ZYlO1g6Q?docId=3e0e8a70a9d747c8925c315847c8c2b6
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama said Saturday that the U.S. military specialists who killed terrorist leader Osama bin Laden showed “the very essence” of public service.
Mrs. Obama made her first public remarks about bin Laden’s death during the commencement address at University of Northern Iowa. U.S. officials have said Navy SEALs shot and killed bin Laden and four others Monday at his luxury compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
“Just imagine, a small group of brave men, dropped by helicopter, half a world away in the dead of night into unknown danger inside the lair of the most wanted man in the world,” Mrs. Obama told the graduating class at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. “They did not hesitate, risking everything for us, for our freedom and security. And they did it not just as Navy SEALs. They did it as husbands, as fathers, as sons. Their families were back here, with no idea of their mission or whether their loved one would ever come home.”
The first lady evoked the SEALs’ actions as part of a call for the graduating class to engage in public service after they leave the university.
“Now, that’s the very essence of the word ‘service,'” she said of the military action. “And the least we can do is give something back to these troops and their families who have given us so much.”
President Barack Obama met Friday in Fort Campbell, Ky., with some of the Navy SEALs who led the raid on bin Laden’s compound and presented them with the Presidential Unit Citation, the highest honor for a military unit.
Well here we go..
Videos show bin Laden watching himself on TV
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20110507/us-bin-laden/
WASHINGTON — Newly released videos show Osama bin Laden watching himself on television and rehearsing for terrorist videos, revealing that even from the walled confines of his Pakistani hideout, he remained a media maestro who was eager to craft his own image for the cameras.
The videos, released by U.S. intelligence officials Saturday, were offered as further proof that Navy SEALs killed the world’s most wanted terrorist this week. But they also served to show bin Laden as vain, someone obsessed with his portrayal by the world’s media.
One of the movies shows bin Laden, his unkempt beard streaked in gray, sitting on the floor, wrapped in a brown blanket and holding a remote control. He flipped back and forth between what appears to be live news coverage of himself. The old, small television was perched on top of a desk with a large tangle of electrical wires running to a nearby control box.
In another, he has apparently dyed and neatly trimmed his beard for the filming of a propaganda video. The video, which the U.S. released without sound, was titled “”Message to the American People” and was believed to be filed sometime last fall, a senior intelligence official said during a briefing for reporters, on condition that his name not be used.
The videos were seized from bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Officials said the clips shown to reporters were just part of the largest collection of senior terrorist materials ever collected. The evidence seized during the raid also includes phone numbers and documents that officials hope will help break the back of the organization behind the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Intelligence officials have known that bin Laden and al-Qaida monitored the news. But for years, when it was assumed that he was living in Pakistan’s rugged, mountainous tribal region, some believed he might not be able to get real-time news.
After the CIA discovered bin Laden’s suburban compound, they realized that a satellite dish provided a television feed to bin Laden’s compound. The video also reveals that bin Laden had a computer in his home, though officials say there were no Internet or phone lines running from the house.
Bin Laden and four others were killed in a daring pre-dawn raid Monday after U.S. helicopters lowered a team of SEALs behind the compound’s high walls. The terrorist leader’s death leaves al-Qaida with an uncertain future and represents America’s most successful counterterrorism mission.
Just watching it all unfold on CNN. Unfuckingbelievable. That rat bastard was hold up watching himself on tv.
Osama Bin Laden Home Video Released By Government (WATCH)
http://backstage.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/07/osama-bin-laden-video-_n_858984.html
WASHINGTON — Newly released video and information about the cache recovered from Osama Bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan reveal a bit of vanity in the terrorist leader: He died his gray beard for videos and watched iconic footage of himself on television.
In a briefing by a senior intelligence officer at the Pentagon Saturday, the al Qaeda leader was described as far more than the “figurehead” of the organization. U.S. officials had dismissed bin Laden’s relevance as over the years after he slipped away from capture at Tora Bora a few months after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. Far from a strategic or symbolic leader of a global terrorist network, the videos reveal bin Laden was an active player in plotting new attacks that focused on transportation and infrastructure targets.
“This compound in Abbottabad was an active command and control center for al Qaeda,” said a Pentagon official, who spoke on condition he not be identified by name. Bin Laden “was not just a strategic thinker. He was active in operational planning” for attacks, he said.
When pressed for evidence of plots masterminded by bin Laden, though, the official provided no examples. He also would not say whether the videos have so far provided any actionable intelligence that would allow the United States to target other al Qaeda leaders.
It is unclear whether this week’s drone attack in Yemen, the first there since 2002, that missed killed Yemeni-American cleric Anwar Al-Awlaki was the result of information taken from bin Laden’s compound.
The official said the vast array of computers, hard drives, printed material, hand-written material, videos and other evidence could take months to sift through.
I’m thrilled to my toes on how President Obama has made these jokers look like the fools they are! Remember this?
The Death of bin Ladenism
http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/11/opinion/11TAHE.html?ex=1089432000&en=373a282aeff2716a&ei=5070&todaysheadlines
Osama bin Laden is dead. The news first came from sources in Afghanistan and Pakistan almost six months ago: the fugitive died in December and was buried in the mountains of southeast Afghanistan. Pakistan’s president, Pervez Musharraf, echoed the information. The remnants of Osama’s gang, however, have mostly stayed silent, either to keep Osama’s ghost alive or because they have no means of communication.
With an ego the size of Mount Everest, Osama bin Laden would not have, could not have, remained silent for so long if he were still alive. He always liked to take credit even for things he had nothing to do with. Would he remain silent for nine months and not trumpet his own survival?
Even if he is still in the world, bin Ladenism has left for good. Mr. bin Laden was the public face of a brand of politics that committed suicide in New York and Washington on Sept. 11, 2001, killing thousands of innocent people in the process.
Oh wait…I believe home videos are going to be released today showing Bin Laden was very alive in July 11, 2002! Ha!

President Obama Meet Navy SEAL Team Force
Posted On May 7th 2011
By blogger javajoo
President of the United States, Barack Obama meet and give awards to Navy SEAL who sent troops to invade nests terrorist leader, Osama bin Laden. On behalf of the state, Obama’s saying gratitude to Navy SEAL Team Six for the success of the operation.
Obama visited the Navy SEAL troops at Fort Campbell. At Fort Campbell, Obama and vice president Joe Biden met alone with the troops raided the house of Osama’s hideout.
Barack Obama then got an explanation of how operations are conducted. The team was led by Vice Admiral William McRaven, head of Navy SEAL and military elite counterterrorism unit, Joint Special Operations Command.
Obama and Joe Biden then met with Navy SEAL team conducting raids throughout the unit – two dozen troops who stormed the complex, and the forces that lurk over the air as a backup.
The President Barack Obama also met with the air crew from the 160th Aviation Regiment Special Operations, known as the ‘night stalker’, who flew to the mission of the SEALs, and the army green beret of the Special Forces Group 5.
With great pride, Obama said, “Job well done,” he said.
Obama went to some 2,000 troops after meeting privately with a team of attackers – Army helicopter pilot and Navy SEAL commando – who perform complex malicious attacks on bin Laden and al-Qaeda leader killed in Pakistan early Monday. Their identities are kept secret.
Under the blazing sun in a hangar full of cheering troops, Obama said, “The leader of the terrorists who attacked our nation on 9 / 11 will not threaten America again.”
According to him, the Al-Qaeda will be defeated. However, Obama warned that the war against terrorism has not ended. Obama called the attacks against bin Laden as one of the attacks and intelligence of the most successful military operations in the U.S history. So, he should come and express my gratitude personally.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden, who accompanied Obama also expressed his pride over the success of the attack on Osama. “We have to spend time with the troops to get Osama bin Laden,” he said.

Major Props to the President and the troops!
Getting Bin Laden was a top priority since President Obama came into office. Now that the job has been done, republicans have the audacity to want Bush to get credit. GTFOOH! You will take nothing from the black President! Not This Time! Bush wasn’t concerned about Bin Laden and claimed it wasn’t his top priority. If he would have kept his priorities in order then we wouldn’t have started a senseless war in Iraq with so many innocent lives lost….despite what that lying liar Condi Rice says!
Break it down, and for these cable stations to parade these war criminals on tee vee all week is BEYOND DISGUSTING!
**looking at CNN, MSNBC, FOX…***
All of them that had a hand in the lie to invade Iraq should be in prison. I thought we were a Nation of Laws? Oh wait…I forgot….some folks are above the law. Laws are made for the little people. I lost my head for a second. /snark!
REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT
AND THE VICE PRESIDENT
TO THE TROOPS
Fort Campbell, Kentucky
3:23 P.M. CDT
THE VICE PRESIDENT: Hey, it’s good to be back with you all. I’ll tell you what. I want to thank General Colt for accompanying me up here. I get the honor of introducing the General.
I was back here on February 11th, to welcome home members of the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Afghanistan — 155 of you got off that plane in the middle of the night, and the only thing that was more exciting than seeing you getting off is watching your families watch you all get off. So it’s an honor to be back here so soon.
I know many of you have just gotten home in the past few weeks — so welcome home. And I know from experience that your families want more than anything to spend time with you. And so, every time I show up at a welcome home ceremony, I’m always worried about getting in the way. Because I remember when my son came back home from Iraq after a year, there were all these ceremonies. And I kept saying, hell, man, stop, I want to see my kid. (Laughter.)
So, anyway, I get it. So let me just say how much gratitude the President and I have, and all Americans do, for you all. You guys have been in the fight from the beginning. And the risk you’ve taken, the incredible sacrifices you’ve made, the comrades you’ve lost, the losses you’ve personally endured — you’ve been in some of the most inhospitable terrain in the world.
I’ve been there a number of times, back up those damn mountains. I’d get a helicopter to go down 9,800 feet, and all I got on is a vest — a bulletproof vest and a helmet and I’m out of breath climbing up about 40 clicks — 40 feet. And you guys are up there, 60 to 80-pound packs running around. God, you’re amazing. You just are amazing. I’m in awe of the job you do, in awe of the job you do. (Applause.)
As I said back in February, I want to also thank your families. They made sacrifices as well, those intangible sacrifices — those missed births and those missed birthdays, those missed graduations, those missed — an occasional funeral. Perhaps more than anything else, just being missed, just not having you home.
The famous poet — there was a famous poet I like to quote, John Milton, who said, “They also serve who only stand and wait.” Your families serve as well. And the rest of America owes your families a debt of gratitude as well. (Applause.) And so, to all the families that are listening, I want to say their service is as real as yours and it’s as appreciated.

The photos say it all. Our President and Vice President are well loved by our military men and women.
Indeed they do! Did you see all the cameras ready to take a photo of the Potus? Their smiles were priceless!
The soldiers were touched. Job Well Done banners were posted for them Some of the troops were involved in the takedown of OBL.
