Even though 3Chics Politico is written and curated by three women: Ametia, Rikyrah, and SouthernGirl2, I must nominate this as one of the most engaging blogs I've found. Devoted to politics and culture, these three shine a light on contemporary life with humor and spirit.

I spent the day with Peanut. It was a day bought and paid for by Groupons that I had collected over a few months.
Outside of the gift she got at the Museum Gift Shop, the day only cost me $2.25.
Great you got to spend the day with Peanut! Damn, Lady, Peanut got a terrically FRUGAL Auntie!
Whoo Hoo! Good for you.
Food stamp discrimination alleged in civil rights complaint brought against Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Advocates for the poor have filed a civil rights complaint against Ohio officials for failing to renew the state’s food stamp waiver for all 88 Ohio counties, which resulted in thousands of Ohioans losing the federal benefits.
In a complaint with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the advocacy groups argued the decision disproportionately hurt minority Ohioans. The complaint was filed jointly by The Legal Aid Society of Columbus, the Ohio Poverty Law Program, the Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio and Advocates for Basic Legal Equality.
The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, requires recipients of food stamps to either work 20 hours a week or attend work training. The federal government allowed states to waive minimum work requirements during the recession and since 2007, Ohio officials have applied for and received a statewide waiver from the work requirement.
In September 2013, Ohio officials announced the state received a waiver for the 16 most economically depressed of Ohio’s 88 counties. The exempt counties are located mostly in Appalachian Ohio and don’t include Ohio’s big, urban counties such as Cuyahoga County.
Ohio Department of Job and Family Services spokeswoman Angela Terez said states don’t need the waivers as much as they previously did because the economy is continuing to recover.
“Make no mistake, the fact that more Ohioans can find jobs is good news, not bad news, and we continue to work with counties to support Ohioans transitioning off food assistance to help them permanently move up and off public assistance,” Terez said in an email.

Thank you for this, Ametia.
You can see that Jim was raised by very caring, compassionate parents. My heart breaks for them.
May God be present with them and the rest of the family with His Love, Strength, and Comfort.
May you gently rest in peace, Jim, in God’s loving embrace.
You will be missed deeply.

AG Holder is in Missouri
Attorney General Eric Holder has arrived in Ferguson, Missouri — the St. Louis suburb wracked by racial tension after the killing earlier this month of unarmed black teen Michael Brown by a white police officer.
Sent by President Obama, Holder is expected to check on the federal civil rights investigation into Brown’s death August 9.
Also, a grand jury in St. Louis County will hear evidence today on Brown’s shooting, county Prosecutor Bob McCulloch told reporters.
New Ferguson thread is up!
Good Morning, Ametia, silentlyheardonce, rikyrah and Everyone :)
Thanks for all that you are doing to bring about change for a better world!

In following this it appears that it’s taking the Zimmerman route. Orbital fracture my ass. Read up on them….that’s the reason he’s not been seen. Also, important to note that this info has been leaked and not released and the chief hasn’t been seen. And in another note, the other man that was killed by police yesterday….I wonder why they just didn’t use pepper spray on him to subdue him….we all know they have that…we saw them use it on protesters. I tell ya, none of this is good at all….not at all!!!!
Hi Sunshine…..I agree with you……so upsetting…..so wrong!
What’s even more wrong….the vile crap being spewed by people that couldn’t possibly understand. The love of guns and military is superior to the love of humanity in this country, and that is simply appalling. My children are at risk and no matter how well mannered, educated or amazing they are, there is a segment of this country’s population that will always see them as less. Let my kid open carry to the kmart and see what happens
I hear you, Sunshine.
And, I agree with you about the people who are willfully ignorant! The people whose children are never stopped, harassed, in fear for their lives because LE and cop wanna-be’s are always negatively/criminally profiled because of the color of their skin.
Also, related to this, I wrote this last week:
…………………………………
I hope I can word what I am about to write with clarity because I consider this to be important.
We all know that people of all backgrounds will advocate for victims of police misconduct. However, the people advocating have a different set of experiences that affect their advocacy.
What I mean is that White community advocating for a White victim of police misconduct does not have thousands of members who have had the same experience with the police as the White victim.
This is not true of the Black community. The Black community has thousands upon thousands of members who have had the identical experience with the police as the Black victim. (e.g. being singled out through stereotypical negative profiling…dealing with a racist officer’s mindset.)
In my opinion, this is why the Black community is so passionate and outraged in its response to police misconduct and why some Black protestors “lose it” during a demonstration. They can personally identify with the victim through their own experiences.
A large number of the White community does not take these differences into consideration (is clueless about this) as it made its judgment against Black protestors, especially those that “lose it” during demonstrations. Such “righteous” judgment is not helpful and does not lead to a constructively healing dialogue.
Hi Sunshine. You are totally ON POINT.
Alright MADAMEs, UP AND AT’EM!
Good morning, Ametia.
Take a look at these two videos of a wild police officer who threatens to kill reporters:
