Welcome to the West Wing Week, your guide to everything that’s happening at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and beyond. This week, the White House honored two important anniversaries, for Women’s Rights and Civil Rights, and the President announced new actions to improve access to quality healthcare for veterans.
Malia always keeps a pleasant or at least neutral expression on her face. Now Sasha looks annoyed.

OMG! Is Malia now taller than First Lady Michelle?
It’s hard to tell, because FLOTUS is wearing heels but she is also further back, so maybe they are about the same height. Now Sasha is catching up to both of them. That seemed to happen so fast.
Malia’s hair is getting so long! Sasha is just precious.
They look really pretty. The girls look great in clothes, just like Mom.
Rollllll Tiiiide!
I’m looking at you, Vitamin. :)
Must say that Texas A&M showed out!
Yes they did. My oldest son nearly lost his mind. lol
It was like a bolt of lightening. I understand that a furniture store had to pay out over $1,000,000 in purchases bought between certain dates if A & M won with 10 points or more. Football excites people.

My First Daughters are growing up! (cry)
Our BEAUTIFUL First Daughters…
Spent the morning in Just Tires. I knew that I was pushing my luck with my old azz tires. I went to get an oil change and the oil man said get out of the car and look at this. I was one pothole away from complete disaster……so off to Just Tires I went. I debated with myself about going to get the oil change before my swim, but something in me said go now. Mama always said follow your first mind.
Good you got them taken care of. I hate flats. I’m in big trouble if I have a flat out on the road. I shudder just thinking about changing a tire on my truck.

The St. Louis Rams have announced that Michael Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL, has been waived and did not make the team’s final 53-man roster.
Sam, an All-American defensive end who played at the University of Missouri, made history when he was picked by the Rams in the seventh and final round. He was the 249th of 256 players selected.
ESPN gasbags and my husband seem to think he will play for some team because he’s really talented. But that’s sad about the Rams. Seems like a nice kid.
Obama: Media makes you think ‘world is falling apart’
By Justin Sink – 08/29/14 06:02 PM EDT
President Obama on Friday said social media and the nightly news are partly to blame for the sense that “the world is falling apart.”
“I can see why a lot of folks are troubled,” Obama told a group of donors gathered at a Democratic National Committee barbecue in Purchase, N.Y.
But the president said that current foreign policy crises across the world are not comparable to the challenges the U.S. faced during the Cold War.
Acknowledging “the barbarity” of Islamist militants and Russia “reasserting the notion that might means right,” Obama, though, dismissed the notion that he was facing unprecedented challenges.
“The world’s always been messy … we’re just noticing now in part because of social media,” he said, according to a White House pool report.
“If you watch the nightly news, it feels like the world is falling apart,” said Obama.
The president acknowledged that conflicts in the Middle East posed difficulties, “but it’s been challenging for quite a while,” he said.
“We will get through these challenging times just like we have in the past,” Obama added.

I agree with that. We are aware of so much more with so much information coming at us from many directions. We get information much quicker and with videos we see things that would have gotten swept under the carpet.
Tell it, SHO Just like Ferguson, MO and Sanford, FL. We have a lot more power using social media. We can either bring the truth or the DOO DOO. Most of us not getting corporate $$$ are more interested in the TRUTH.
The Alarm clock is ringing.
WHELP!
From Richard Mayhew over at Balloon Juice. He really has done a fabulous job of breaking down Obamacare into understandable terms.

More on 2015 Medicaid Expansion

A quick update from the post earlier this week on potential Medicaid expansion in 2015.
Healthy PA was approved yesterday with a launch date of 1.1.15.
Tennessee is making noises
about seeking a waiver along the lines of either Healthy PA or the
Arkansas private option model. Tennessee has the local examples of
Kynect in Kentucky and Arkansas so the special snowflake excuse does not
fly
Utah is doing something about expansion.
The goal is to get a plan to the state legislature this fall. The
extremes of the debate is hope that charity care will be sufficient to
solve the uninsured and underserved problem (if it was, Obamacare never would have been needed) to a private option waiver. The big challenge is Utah wants a work requirement and HHS won’t tie work to medical care. HHS shot down the same type of requirement with Healthy PA, so they will continue to shoot it down in Utah.
My read on Virginia is that if Arkansas can cobble together a 75%
supermajority with large Republican majorities, Virginia can find 20% of the Senate Republican caucus and 40-50% of the House Republican caucus to defect for the good guys on this one. I could be totally wrong, but that is how my read is being informed.

Power to the people @Blackgoddess93
Black Americans, Caribbeans, and Afro-Latinos are the same people. The only difference is slave ships drop us off to different locations.
Good Morning, Everyone :)
Off to swim and run errands.
Good Morning, Rikyrah & Everyone!
On the phone with Dell most of the day. Hope all’s having a good weekend.
Hi SHO. I just got back from an outdoor wedding. It was splendid.
