(CNN) — Ferguson Missouri, Police Chief Thomas Jackson apologized Thursday to the parents of Michael Brown, as well as to any peaceful protesters who feel he didn’t do “enough to protect their constitutional right to protest.”
Specifically, he apologized that it took investigating officers four hours to remove Brown’s body from the street after Officer Darren Wilson fatally shot him last month.
“I’m truly sorry for the loss of your son. I’m also sorry that it took so long to remove Michael from the street,” he said during his video statement.
Investigators were doing “important work” trying to uncover the truth and collect evidence during those four hours, Jackson said, but “it was just too long, and I’m truly sorry for that.”
Keep your apology, Tom Jackson. It’s much too late for THAT. Too much damage has been done. The entire Ferguson police department needs to be dismantled from the top to the bottom.

The St. Louis County prosecutor’s office is investigating an accusation of misconduct on the grand jury that is hearing the case against the Ferguson police officer who shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown.
Ed Magee, the spokesman for county prosecutor Robert McCulloch, said they received the information from a “Twitter user” Wednesday morning.
“We are looking into the matter,” he said.
An account of possible jury misconduct surfaced Wednesday morning on Twitter, when several users sent messages about one juror who may have discussed evidence in the case with a friend.
In one of those messages, a person tweeted that they are friends with a member of the jury who doesn’t believe there is enough evidence to warrant an arrest of the officer, Darren Wilson.
The same person who tweeted about being friends with a member of the jury has also tweeted messages of support for Wilson.
Magee confirmed that the Twitter user and feed came from an activist, Shaun King.
The jury has been weighing evidence on the case since Aug. 20, within days of the Aug. 9 shooting. McCulloch told The Washington Post last week that both the FBI and county police’s investigations into the shooting are “pretty much done.” He also said that jurors should be done hearing all the evidence by later this month, but they could meet through mid-November.
Grand jury proceedings are confidential and if there has been a breach, the prosecutor’s office may have to start over with a newly empaneled group.

On Saturday, a Ferguson, Mo., police officer was shot in the arm. Initial reports indicated police were looking for two suspects. Now, police say they are only looking for one man.
Ferguson, Mo., police now have their sights set on finding one suspect they believe shot and wounded an officer in a Saturday night altercation that is now being described very differently from when police first reported the incident.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, police initially reported that the officer saw two suspects breaking into a business. When the officer approached the alleged suspects, one pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting the officer in the arm. Now police are reporting that during a “business check” the officer noticed one man standing at the rear of the Ferguson Community Center. When the officer approached, the man took off running, the officer gave chase and the man spun and shot the officer before taking off into the woods nearby.
The Post-Dispatch notes that the officer was treated and released from a hospital Sunday. St. Louis County Police Sgt. Brian Schellman told the Post-Dispatch that the officer was wearing a body camera, but said it was turned off during the incident. The police spokesman told the newspaper that he did not know why the camera was off.
Ferguson police officers have been mandated to wear body cameras since Aug. 31. The mandate comes in the wake of the Aug. 9 fatal shooting of unarmed teen Michael Brown by Police Officer Darren Wilson.
The original report of Saturday’s shooting of the police officer that was given to Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson and St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar indicated there were two suspects, but detectives have now confirmed that only one individual was reportedly involved in the shooting.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The widespread mistrust of law enforcement that was exposed by the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man in Missouri exists in too many other communities and is having a corrosive effect on the nation, particularly on its children, President Barack Obama says. He blames the feeling of wariness on persistent racial disparities in the administration of justice.
Obama said these misgivings only serve to harm communities that are most in need of effective law enforcement.
“It makes folks who are victimized by crime and need strong policing reluctant to go to the police because they may not trust them,” he said Saturday night in an address at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s annual awards dinner.
“And the worst part of it is it scars the hearts of our children,” Obama said, adding that it leads some youngsters to unnecessarily fear people who do not look like them and others to constantly feel under suspicion no matter what they do.
“That is not the society we want,” he said. “It’s not the society that our children deserve.”

A photo posted on social media during demonstrations in Ferguson on Tuesday night appears to show an officer working crowd control wearing a wristband that reads “I am Darren Wilson.” That slogan is affiliated with a campaign in support of the Ferguson police officer who killed Michael Brown on Aug. 9, and whom protestors want to see arrested. A grand jury currently is weighing the evidence against Wilson, and the FBI has launched a separate civil rights investigation into the case.

It’s been over a month since 18-year-old Michael Brown Jr. was shot and killed in Ferguson, Missouri, by police officer Darren Wilson, and the Brown family have questions but few answers. Weeks ago, their attorneys filed a request for more information on Wilson’s police career, but they’re still waiting for it. A grand jury has convened in St. Louis County, but won’t decide whether to indict Wilson for at least another month or longer.
The slow movement of the case has the family questioning whether the public really gets what happened. “People really don’t understand that she lost her son,” Eric Davis said of his cousin, Lesley McSpadden, Brown’s mother.
