cowboy_take_me_away_01-150x150Dixie Chicks is an American country music band which has also crossed over into other genres. The band is composed of founding members (and sisters) Martie Erwin Maguire and Emily Erwin Robison, and lead singer Natalie Maines. The band formed in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, and was originally composed of four women performing bluegrass and country music, busking and touring the bluegrass festival circuits and small venues for six years without attracting a major label. After the departure of one bandmate, the replacement of their lead singer, and a slight change in their repertoire, Dixie Chicks soon achieved commercial success, beginning in 1998 with hit songs “There’s Your Trouble” and “Wide Open Spaces“.

If I hear once more about the cold-blooded murderer’s 8 month along pregnant wife, his 2 pugs or his poor, sweet mother, I’ll be sick. This is madness. Where are the humanizing stories about the murdered man and his family who are dealing with the real and traumatic loss?

About this new book that details gossip from White House residence staff about First Families private lives and the behind the scenes goings on at the White House Residence, it’s important to note that the author Kate Andersen Brower was a producer at Fox and the book is published by Harper Collins, aka Rupert Murdoch trash publishing company.

p.s: The usually ‘reticent’ Desiree Rogers of course granted Ms. Brower an interview.

There is a nice article about Mellody Hobson in this month’s issue of Vanity Fair that has Robin Wright on the cover.

Abortion foes protesting what they created
    Josh Brodesky | April 3, 2015

Just why are abortion opponents protesting outside Planned Parenthood’s soon-to-be headquarters here?

That they oppose abortion is a given. But short of that, this is exactly what they wanted. The building will be a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgical center, designed specifically to meet the state’s 2013 stringent abortion laws. It’s the kind of facility that state lawmakers, and those who oppose abortion, have said will help keep women safer in Texas if they choose to have the procedure.

But now abortion opponents are in a tizzy that a surgical center is getting built at 2140 Babcock Road, right in the medical center on the city’s Northwest Side. One resident who lives near the facility in Dreamhill Estates has sued, so far unsuccessfully, over alleged zoning violations. Abortion opponents frequently protest outside the building and down at City Hall.

It wasn’t intentional, but Phil Sevilla, president of the nonprofit Texas Leadership Coalition, captured the absurdity in a recent interview.

“It started last year,” he said of the protests, “when we heard that Planned Parenthood was planning to build a major abortion facility here in San Antonio to comply with the new pro-life regulations.”

Well, what else would Planned Parenthood do? Not comply with those “pro-life regulations?”

Perhaps the expectation was they would close. After all, compliance doesn’t come cheap. Planned Parenthood is spending millions to build this surgical center. That kind of expense is exactly why abortion clinics across the state have shuttered, which is exactly why some women will now travel hundreds of miles to San Antonio for abortions.

And yet, this too, has angered and saddened abortion opponents, who refer to the facility as a “mega center” for abortions, as if Planned Parenthood were no different than a big box store, selling abortions as if they were stereos. When in reality, the vast majority of Planned Parenthood clients — nine in 10 women — are there for health care.

In a recent letter, Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller said he was “deeply troubled by Planned Parenthood’s abortion center.” He worried that it and another abortion provider could make San Antonio “the abortion center of South Texas.”

Yes, that could happen since, you know, there are no longer any abortion providers west and south of San Antonio.

“These are the very people who wanted this law, and so we complied with the law they wanted, and now they are not happy about it,” said Jeffrey Hons, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood South Texas. “I could build this building on Mars, and they still wouldn’t be happy.”

That last point is probably something on which everyone could agree.

For this, I’m going to give PP another donation. PP is beating the pro-lifers at their own game in TX. These protests illustrate clearly what was behind GOP/TPers passing a law that facilities performing abortions have surgical units like hospitals. The law was meant to shut down all facilities where abortions are performed in TX. Go, Jeffrey Hons, go!
