I purposely at work today made a very loud comment to a fellow (black) employee about how lovely our First Lady looked in that black mermaid gown by Vera Wang when they were hosting the Chinese leaders. He caught on and was agreeing with me about how she is indeed beautiful and how some people are always attacking her appearance. We went on for several minutes and it was so funny because the other employees were so quiet (snicker). We knew what we were doing! I sure enjoyed doing that. She is the most.

Thank you so much for posting this Ametia… I enjoyed watching this last night…Her spirit is beyond wondrous, her presence, powerful…She’s brilliant and beautiful and brave, but most importantly, she’s remains so sincere, grounded and unpretentious, always eschewing affectation..
Thank you our awesome 3 Chics: SG, Ametia and Rikyrah for never leaving our First Lady out; For always respecting, lifting her up and unequivocally honoring her as the very, very deserving better half to our President..
The attacks, disrespect, envy, resentment this wife and First Lady has had to contend with, would have done a real number to the mental and physical health and well-being of a lesser woman. Many a wife would have lost their minds by now faced with the nonstop machinations and shenanigans of ‘friends’ and foe alike as her husband’s presidency has played out over these past 7plus years…
The attacks from the angry opposition on her while incredibly vicious and unpleasant and much, much worse than could ever have been anticipated, were at the very least anticipated. And as hard as I’m sure it’s been for and on her, it was at least anticipated…
It is the stealth and not so stealth resentment, envy, underhandedness, spite and devious shenanigans of and from so-called ‘supporters’ and allies that continue to specifically target and disregard her in the most insidious, disrespectful, dismissive and dehumanizing ways, that have been shocking to say the very least – and completely beyond belief..
It has all been very eye-opening and instructive to observe, and I have been so angered by the way this first black First Lady has been treated, that it has for the most part dimmed my enthusiasm and soured me on politics..
But what it hasn’t done – and will never do, is dim my determination to never ever back-off; And to always, always speak up and push back hard with everything I have on her behalf – against those who would dare hurt one more black woman in the many ways they’ve devised to chip away at our being and our souls …and then turn around and label us bitter and angry and hardened…
Well-said, eliihaas.
Don’t come for any of us, unless we send for you. And when we do, you better come with RESPECT.
We will push back HARD in ways that are evident, and no so evident. Either way, you will KNOW where we STAND.
