Juneteenth is abt ONLY 1 motherfucking thing: slaves in Galveston, TX finding out they were freed 2 yrs after the Emancipation Proclamation

    Black & Divine @OHTheMaryD
#Juneteenth is NOT multi-cultural. It is at its very core and essence, American Blackness.

    Black & Divine @OHTheMaryD

    Sanders collides with black lawmakers
The Congressional Black Caucus ‘vehemently’ opposes Sanders’ call to abolish superdelegates.
By DANIEL STRAUSS 06/19/16 04:17 PM EDT

Bernie Sanders is on a crash course with the Congressional Black Caucus.
In a letter sent to both the Sanders and Hillary Clinton campaigns, the CBC is expressing its resolute opposition to two key reforms demanded by Sanders in the run-up to the Democratic convention: abolishing the party’s superdelegate system and opening Democratic primaries up to independents and Republicans.

“The Democratic Members of the Congressional Black Caucus recently voted unanimously to oppose any suggestion or idea to eliminate the category of Unpledged Delegate to the Democratic National Convention (aka Super Delegates) and the creation of uniform open primaries in all states,” says the letter, which was obtained by POLITICO. “The Democratic Party benefits from the current system of unpledged delegates to the National Convention by virtue of rules that allow members of the House and Senate to be seated as a delegate without the burdensome necessity of competing against constituents for the honor of representing the state during the nominating process.”

(CNN)A Pennsylvania man faces charges including sexual assault after police say they found him living with 12 girls, including an 18-year-old and two children he fathered with her.

Police in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, just north of Philadelphia, arrested Lee Kaplan, 51, on Thursday. Police said the girls living with Kaplan at his house ranged in age from 6 months to 18 years.
In a related case, authorities nearly 100 miles away in Lancaster County arrested the parents of the 18-year-old, with police saying the couple had “gifted” their daughter to Kaplan for helping them out of financial difficulties. She was 14 when her first child was conceived, the criminal complaint said.

Kaplan was charged with statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor, according to a police criminal complaint filed in Bucks County.

The 18-year-old’s parents, Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus of Quarryville, are charged with endangering the welfare of children. Daniel Stoltzfus also faces charges of criminal conspiracy and statutory sexual assault, according to a criminal complaint filed by police in Bucks County.

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler told CNN on Sunday that the Stoltzfuses claimed to be the parents of 10 of the girls, and the grandparents of the remaining two children.

Donald Trump calls profiling Muslims ‘common sense’

    Source: Washington Post

After doubling down on his proposal to ban immigrants from countries with a history of terrorism, Donald Trump is now doubling down on another controversial idea in the wake of the Orlando massacre: profiling Muslims already in the United States.

In an interview with CBS’s John Dickerson that aired Sunday on “Face the Nation,” Trump called profiling Muslims “common sense.”

“Well, I think profiling is something that we’re going to have to start thinking about as a country,” he said when Dickerson asked Trump whether he still supports the idea, which he has floated before. “And other countries do it; you look at Israel and you look at others and they do it and they do it successfully. You know, I hate the concept of profiling. But we have to start using common sense, and we have to use, you know, we have to use our heads…we really have to look at profiling. We have to look at it seriously. “

Hmmm. So much going on here. The young boy is obviously very intelligent so, what went wrong? My first guess is that he has gained some form of acceptance within some peer group by being vocal about supporting Trump. We pretty much know who these people are, but he finds this acceptance rewarding. His parents / family are either promoting this or they are complacent. All we know for certain is that he hasn’t been told the truth about much of anything. It really is sad.

      • yahtzeebutterfly says:

I agree with your assessment, Liza.

He is also disrespectful and a brat just like Trump. Who the heck gave him the attack line to go after an adults educational credentials. He sounded like a brat when he told the man to get a high school education!

      • Liza says:

Yeah, all that misdirected intelligence and energy. It’s not too late for him, I hope someone who can be a positive influence in his life sees this and takes an interest in him. He seems to mostly want attention and admiration. The Black Lives Matter guy is just angry, and wants there to be some shortcut to educating the kid. But there isn’t. This is a smart kid, he needs someone to mentor him and teaching him truth (and how to pursue truth on his own) won’t happen overnight. But something tells me this kid is worth the effort.

      • yahtzeebutterfly says:

You have wisely called it, Liza.

I agree, there is no shortcut to educating this bright kid… patiently leading him carefully through the facts and through past/present history is needed

Ryan: I have to support Trump
    06/19/16 09:02 AM EDT

House Speaker Paul Ryan says it’s his responsibility to support Donald Trump, even if the presumptive Republican nominee’s bombast occasionally makes him uncomfortable.

Ryan told Chuck Todd of NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he feels an obligation as the leader of the House Republicans to back Trump, warts and all. To do otherwise, he said, would divide the party and ultimately lead to a third consecutive Democratic victory in November’s presidential election.

    Dems step up Grassley attacks
    06/19/16 06:00 AM EDT

Democrats are increasingly laying a hammer to Sen. Chuck Grassley as they seek to unseat the Iowa Republican.

Grassley’s Senate seat is widely handicapped as likely to stay in the GOP column, but Democrats believe the rise of Donald Trump and the fight over the Supreme Court are providing the perfect storm for taking out the six-term GOP incumbent.

Dems plan rude awakening’ for Trump in summer onslaught
    Associated Press 3:38 p.m. EDT June 18, 2016

NEW ORLEANS — Donald Trump’s unconventional campaign is about to feel the heat of political organization.

Hillary Clinton and her Democratic allies have invested at least $41 million in commercials in crucial states such as Ohio, Florida and Nevada over the next six weeks, a series of summer broadsides against her Republican opponent. Those messages will be echoed by hundreds of Clinton workers in those same states and amplified by President Barack Obama and other top Democrats.

Trump has made few preparations for contending with that sort of well-oiled political machine. His campaign has no advertising plans and is just now hiring employees in important states. Republican leaders are far from in agreement on how best to talk to voters about the polarizing billionaire, or if they will at all. And Trump is running out of time: Early voting starts in Iowa in just 3 1 / 2months.

“It’s political malpractice,” said Mitch Stewart, Obama’s 2012 battleground states director and a Clinton backer. “He’s in for a rude awakening. This isn’t a national vote contest where you can be on cable news every day and dominate coverage. This is literally going state by state and coming up with a plan in each.”
