Veterans For Kaepernick Exploded On Twitter Tuesday NightColin Kaepernick’s refusal to stand during the national anthem has taken over the news cycle. It seems almost everyone has weighed in on the issue except one, extremely important group: American combat veterans. That changed Tuesday night the hashtag #VeteransForKaepernick was trending worldwide on Twitter, with thousands of vets standing by the San Francisco 49ers quarterback’s right to choose to stand or sit during the national anthem.

Vets of all races voiced their support for Kaepernick and called on Americans to understand that they fought for his rights to free speech and to protest.

Here is a sampling of the tweets:

Speech vs reality: Between 2010-14, 121 Americans killed by released illegal immigrants; in 2015 alone 258 blacks killed by police.

Mexico Trip, of course, was Charlie Brown and the football. Media fell for it. Now, Trump vamping off script with his usual bile.

Idea of a commission to select “desirable” immigrants “with a high likelihood of success” is straight up alt-right push for Europeans only.

Some people talk to Americans of color like they own the place and WE should be grateful guests. We own the place together, buddy. Sorry.

About Colin Kaepernick’s Stance and the Chafed Compatriots
    Awesomely Luvvie
    August 31, 2016

Colin Kaepernick is the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, and he is in the middle of a public hailstorm right now. He decided to sit down as the national anthem played before a game, and he has been caught up in the rapture of hate ever since. When asked why he did it, Colin said:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Colin’s biological parents were white (mother) and Black (father) but he was adopted and raised by upper class white parents. He can’t pass for white, though. He looks ethnically ambiguous based on how he’s rocking his hair. However, he recognizes that he is a brown/Black man, like Eric Garner, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and countless more.

This stance that he took has brought so much vitriol his way. Even his own biological mother is fixing her fingers to type over Twitter to her son that he shouldn’t have done what he did. I want her to sit her nickel ass down because ain’t nobody asked her shit. If you are sending this man tweets, then it tells me that you probably don’t have his phone number. Which, surely your 15-minutes of fame looking ass gotta shut the ENTIRE WHOLE COMPLETE hell up. The gahtdamb nerve of some people. She might have born him but her attempting to scold him is laughable. Keep it cute.

    …………………………….

The responses of white folks aren’t surprising, as that is the function of racism. I expected them to lash out and call Colin out. What has been interesting has been the Black people who have chastised him. But then again, every system must be sustained by convincing some of the folks it has oppressed that they are somehow better off in the state they are in. It is how webs of injustice stay woven. You need buy-in from some of the pawns.

At least three NFL veterans have spoken out against Colin Kaepernick’s protest. Jerry Rice took to Twitter to say “all lives matter.” Tiki Barber got on TV talmbout he doesn’t commend Colin. Rodney Harrison was talmbout Colin ain’t Black cuz he’s mixed.

Meanwhile, I’m over here wondering why none of these knuckleheads realize that shutting the fuck up is free. You don’t even need a coupon code or nothing.

Why don’t they know that their pandering to white people and white dollars ain’t gon save their Black asses in these streets. Ol’ stand for nothing ass wobbly knee ass ninjas. Ol’ “yes massa” ass faces. STFU.

They’d be the mofos Harriet Tubman woulda had to shoot because they’d put everyone else’s freedom in jeopardy by going to snitch. Ol’ “slavery ain’t so bad. At least we have this tin roof over our head” ass fucknuggets. You don’t have to fight for freedom with me but you sure in the hell better not stand in my way. SHUTTING THE FUCK UP IS FREE.

I went to see Southside With You.

    LOVED IT.

I really did. Didn’t go in with a lot of expectations, but I wound up loving it. People who had seen it all said the same thing – it’s too short. And, I have to agree with that. Yet…that’s what makes it good.

This wasn’t about the totality of the First Couple’s relationship. It was their first date. And, that’s all it was.

Yet, it was so much more. It was beautiful, romantic, without being sappy or mushy. These aren’t two people who fell in love like in the fairy tales. They had to get to know one another.

I think part of the love was that the movie seemed like a love letter to the South Side of Chicago. Outside of one place where they went to talk, it all took place on the South Side of Chicago. I took that to heart.

The actors did very good job, and if you can, get out and see it.

      Saw it too…

      Twice actually…to support the effort..

Sponsored some groups to help make sure it does well at the box office ..if nothing else, to shut the spiteful folk up..

Overall sweet, well-shot movie …and yes, not nearly long enough..

A few slight quibbles…but nothing one can’t overlook..

Everyone go see it so we can talk more about it without giving away anything and ruining it for you..

    Morning Fam!

I hope all is well. I got a few things to share.

A sista was all in her feelings reading the tweets in ‘Veterans for Kaepernick’. I almost started shouting as I saw all the Black/POC folks who basically said, ‘I got his back. Come at me if you dare’. And the messages about why they serve… whew!

Second, when Black folks get on a righteous rant, they bring it 100. Nothing sacred, spared or left standing. I was hollering because in addition to KMack’s ‘Mayo Nation’ I saw the racists referred to as “Bald Eagle Nation’ and ‘F-150 Nation’.

Third, this whole ‘Kaep is Muslim’ rumor that is going around – did you notice what preceded it? Evidently, Kaep’s girlfriend is a Black woman and according to F-150 Nation, she has convinced him to convert. I call bullshit. This a two-fer: try and fuck him up and the Black woman he has the nerve to be dating. Because even if Bald Eagle Nation is mad at him, he is supposed to hold up the white standard of beauty.

I love us. Social media has allowed us to circle and protect our own, and we do it well.

Mean and malicious on the teacher’s part. And the little girl is only six.

Reminds me of Sister James Barbara, my first grade teacher. She was really mean, always trying to humiliate some kid. It wasn’t any kid in particular, sometimes she went for the whole class at once. I cried every day because I hated school so much and no one knew what to do. I suppose I was afraid to “tell on” Sr. JB. Well, someone must have reported her because she disappeared over Christmas break. All we ever heard was that she “wasn’t well” and had to be sent away. Never heard of her again.

Those scars last forever. We can’t have people like this teaching little kids.

Then we have our black and brown sisters being drowned by the expectations set forth by people who never wanted or intended for us to be our own success. Fuck these parties filled with panderers and people who forgot about the all and only care about the one!!
