Black Women March

A pair of simultaneous marches addressing racial injustice swept through Washington, D.C., on Saturday, with sister marches scheduled to take place in several cities across the country.

The March for Black Women, protesting “state violence” and sexual and domestic violence against black women and girls, met with the March for Racial Justice on Capitol Hill to march toward the Justice Department and National Mall in downtown Washington.

Organizers told The Washington Post that the two marches have corresponding goals, addressing both issues of injustice facing the black community at large and the specific challenges of black women. The marches were reportedly planned to coincide.
