This student is a little racist fk with no respect, no home training. Is this what is being taught at Covington Catholic School?

The Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High in Kentucky rebuked the students’ actions and said they could potentially be expelled as a result.

A Kentucky Catholic school may take disciplinary action against their students after a group of the MAGA hat–wearing teenage boys taunted a Native American elder at the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington, DC, on Friday.

Several viral videos show the young men, nearly all of whom are white and wearing pro-Trump gear, chanting at and mocking the man on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

One of the teens can be seen standing face-to-face with the elder, smirking and saying nothing, while the man sang and played a drum.

The indigenous protester was identified by Indian Country Today as Nathan Phillips, a member of the Omaha Nation and a Vietnam War veteran. He reportedly hosts a ceremony each year honoring Native American veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and is also the keeper of a sacred pipe.

Kaya Taitano, a 26-year-old student from Guam who told BuzzFeed News she filmed the videos of Phillips. “You can tell he has power in his being,” she said in a phone interview.

In an interview with Taitano following the incident that she uploaded to her Instagram, Phillips said he wished he could see those teens “put that energy into making this country really great, helping those that are hungry.”

“I heard them saying, ‘Build that wall, build that wall,'” said Phillips, who could not be immediately reached for comment. “You know, this is indigenous lands. We’re not supposed to have walls here — we never did for millennia, before anybody else came here.”

      I’m mighty suspicious about what is going on at that school.

      I went to Catholic schools for 12 years many decades ago. Now it’s true they didn’t do a very good job teaching American history but they damn sure taught us about RESPECT. In fact, they drilled it, do unto others and so forth.

      Unless you’ve actually worked in public high schools, you would have no idea how subservient board members, superintendents, and administrators can be in regard to serious social, ethical, and religious violations. This partially explains why the superintendent was on site but did nothing to stop the kids who were mocking Mr. Phillips. It all comes back to fear, fear that the superintendent will lose his job, fall out of favor, and lose the support of the church and community members he feels he needs. As for the Catholic Church, all I can say is that it has a loooong history of covering up wrongdoing. I won’t be surprised if nothing really happens to the little sh*ts who took part in harassing Mr. Phillips.

      Notice the glaring absence of the usual right-wing ‘moral scolds’ in this conversation. This always happens when melanin-challenged persons do terrible, despicable things to other U.S. citizens/persons. They’ll pretend this is an incident of ‘kids being kids.’ It’s not. It’s an incident which indicates the disdain, heartlessness, and disrespect of a group of persons who seem to think that being born white is like winning a multi-million dollar lottery. Mr. Phillips is a veteran. I suspect there a millions of Americans,and probably most of these students, that don’t know about the roles American Indians played in winning World Wars I and II. The American Indian code-talkers helped create a system of communication that our enemies couldn’t decode/decipher and allowed our military, which was located in different places/countries, to coordinate military plans with each other.

      Where were the adults when this was happening? I know darn well they didn’t disappear? The taunting lasted at least 4 minutes with a mob of little racist fucks surrounding Elder Nathan Phillips.

        The adults were afraid to say anything because they wouldn’t want to do anything that would cause members of their community and the Catholic Church to turn against them.
