Most recently, a legal fellow from Americans United for Life—one of the nation’s most powerful anti-abortion groups—argues at The Federalist that shield laws are unconstitutional. Guzi He writes that the laws violate the Constitution’s extradition clause and “put the commercial interests of abortionists ahead of the safety of women and girls, not to mention the damage done to long-standing traditions of interstate cooperation.”
The column comes just a few days after Kristi Hamrick, vice president of Students for Life Action, told NBC News, “The attempt by some states to create a little safe haven for abortion will not be successful. I think we will end up in court.” And in Amy Littlefield’s terrific piece about “the abortion pill underground” , law professor Mary Ziegler predicts that anti-choice groups might just pull it off. “I think there’s a real possibility a court is going to say, ‘Well, actually, the banned state can come for you,’” she said.

Ben Carson, who is often named as a potential running mate for Donald Trump, is out with a new book in which he calls for an end to no-fault divorce laws in the United States. “For the sake of families, we should enact legislation to remove or radically reduce incidences of no-fault divorce,” Carson writes in “The Perilous Fight,” released Tuesday.
Research has shown that no-fault divorce correlates with reductions in domestic violence and suicide rates among women. A 2015 study found that women are more likely than men to initiate divorces. In a 2016 sermon, now-House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., listed no-fault divorce laws as one of the causes turning the US into a “completely amoral society.”
Now, we have Ben Carson talking about getting rid of no-fault divorce.
It’s all related. The desire to strip women of their autonomy, and their involvement in the public sphere, and shove them back into the home with no rights.

I was absolutely disgusted and freaked out by the media (televised and print) coverage I saw leading up to the Morehouse graduation with President Biden delivering the commencement address. It was plainly obvious the media was looking for and expecting an incident.
Black men graduating from a college with the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
Black men with a heightened awareness of two things: the power of peaceful protest and the potential brutality they could face as Black men being brutalized by police on that day along with how it would reflect on their college in the spotlight.
Thank god the president of Morehouse, David A. Thomas, was also aware and prepared to take appropriate steps that did not come to pass. Morehouse is a shining example to other colleges and students.

WASHINGTON — A man whose family members were key architects of the American conservative movement was sentenced Friday to three years and nine months in federal prison for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, which included smashing windows that allowed the mob to storm into the building during the initial breach.
Federal prosecutors sought more than 11 years in prison and a terrorism enhancement for Brent Bozell IV, the son of Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell III and grandson of Joe McCarthy speechwriter Brent Bozell Jr., who was William F. Buckley Jr.’s brother-in-law and ghost-wrote Barry Goldwater’s “The Conscience of a Conservative.”
But Judge John Bates sentenced Bozell IV to 45 months in prison and $4,727 in restitution Friday. Bates found that the clear language of the terrorism enhancement statute would apply in Bozell’s case, saying it’s “a little difficult for me to escape” that conclusion. But Bates disagreed with the enormous impact it would have on Bozell’s sentence range and seemed uncomfortable with labeling a man with a leadership role in the politically-motivated attack on the U.S. Capitol as a domestic terrorist.
