BREAKING: In a huge win for democracy and reproductive rights, Ohio voters reject Republican-backed Issue 1. The measure would have raised the threshold for voters to amend the state constitution and made it harder to pass a pro-choice ballot measure in November.

Breaking News: Ohio voters just voted AGAINST a right-wing scheme to raise the threshold to pass constitutional amendments to 60%.
This is a major win for abortion rights and democracy— and a HUGE setback for Republicans.

Can’t overstate it: Roe v Wade was an electoral gift to Republicans while it was alive. It turned an issue that’s a huge loser for the party into a winner—they could mobilize their anti-abortion base without triggering a backlash by the abortion rights majority.
Now that’s over.

Ohio voters tonight just overwhelmingly REJECTED anti-Democratic attempts on behalf of far right, anti-abortion groups to restrict ballot initiatives for citizens to democratically to bypass Ohio’s legislative majorities. The initiative was put forward and supported by… pic.twitter.com/AxVF5OO2P6

Holy crap. According to early results, the Ohio State University campus is voting 98% for NO on Issue 1 in Ohio. That’s huge. Gen Z cares and we WILL fight back against Republicans and their attempts to take our rights away. And the amazing thing is, we’re just getting started.

Lesson from Ohio:
Dems aren't napping in Off year elections like they used to.
When they swatted us on the ass in the 2016 election, something snapped inside dem voters.
That explains the overperformance in special elections, 2018, 2020, and 2022.
Let's bring it next fall. pic.twitter.com/Igno3RTQNF

I’m not saying that Sammy Alito’s decision in Dobbs is a world historic political blunder that will cripple his beloved Republican Party. But there sure is a lot of evidence building for that hypothesis.

They still don’t want to admit that the issue of body autonomy is a live wire. They can’t go to their precious diners to get the stories about the rage surrounding loss of body autonomy. It doesn’t center WWC men.
I remember before the 2022 midterms Chuck Todd would bring his smiling dirt bag Republican friends on to tell us all that abortion doesn't matter it won't be an issue. https://t.co/Q5NB3nQiDH
