Good Morning. I hope that you are enjoying this weekend, fully vaccinated and boosted, with family and friends.
We will take today to highlight World Champion in the 100 Meters – Sha’Carri Richardson.
She has come a long way, and will enter the Paris 2024 Olympics as the WORLD CHAMPION.

“It’s about knowing that no matter what happens, you never lose sight of yourself. You’re going to have good days, you’re going to have bad days, you are going to have better days. You’re going to have worse days. But you live to see tomorrow. Every day the sun doesn’t shine but that’s why I love tomorrow.”

– Sha’Carri Richardson, after winning her first 100m world title

Good video of Rep Jones reaction to yesterday’s shooting. I like that he referred to DeSantis as an asinine governor on national TV.

Jones: To see three precious black lives taken in a state where you have an asinine governor attacking black people, attacking black history and you have people making excuses saying it’s not a gun issue when he had an ar-15.. We don’t have to live this way

On this day in 1960, hundreds of white people armed with baseball bats and ax handles attacked Black activists for staging a peaceful sit-in at a “whites only” restaurant in Jacksonville, FL. To overcome racial inequality, we must confront our history.

I grew up in Jax, FL. In my memory, Jax was always a racist town.

It’s had a lot of time to change since I was there. Sheriff T K Waters seems to think it has. But I really have my doubts.

Anti-democratic, Fascist, White Supremacist Governor Ron DeSantis was re-elected in 2022 in a landslide (59% of the vote). He’s doing his best to turn Florida into a anti-democratic sh!thole and it looks as though he’s succeeding.

Anyhow, northern Florida has always been culturally identified as Deep South. I can’t say that yesterday’s racially motivated shooting surprised me.

Rep Lucy McBath’s son Jordan Davis was murdered in Jax just six miles from the home where I grew up.
