Open Thread | What Kamala Harris Is Attempting To Do

I really want folks, when these polls come out, to look at it with some perspective.

Kamala Harris has been given 100 days to save democracy in America.

That she’s running for President under these circumstances is the most Black woman thing I’ve ever seen.

Literally strapping this country on her back to save it from fascism.

It almost brings me to tears just thinking about it.
What made me write this was a picture of MVP in Marine 2 with her sister. She just looked exhausted.

And, then, I saw this today, and I burst into tears:

With permission from Catherine, we’re sharing this about the last vote of her lifetime. She knows her time is limited, but she showed up to vote on day one for
@KamalaHarris
and
@Tim_Walz
. What an amazing and heartfelt story. May God bless and comfort Catherine and her family. ❤️

    July 2023, more than a year ago, ILA President Daggett started preparing the union workers to strike on October 1, 2024. Yet he refused to sit down at the bargaining table the past few months. He’s asking for twice the salary increase negotiated by the West Coast ILA. I’m pro-union but something smells fishy. Article below #ProudBlue #DemsUnited

    When I say that this longshoreman ILA strike has been planned for a while, this is why: Here’s Harold Daggett saying OVER A YEAR AGO in July of 2023, after he met with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago saying “mark my words, there’s going to be an explosion,” and that the ILA is going to “light the fuse” (essentially tank the economy) while spewing America First propaganda.

    @ArtCandee

    It is insane to me that this one man, Harold Daggett, not the vote of the entire union, has this much control over our economy. Especially when the man made $728,000 last year from the ILA, plus another $173,000 as president emeritus of a local union branch.

    Most every dockworker puts in overtime which means that they earn over $150,000 a year. Harold has been asking for a 77% raise for workers.

    Last night, it was reported that he rejected an increase of 50%. It’s also being reported that he turned down between 2x-3x the contribution to their retirement funds. And NO automation of any kind for the next 6 years. Mental.

    I wanted to address the idea that the WNBPA’s statement about USA TODAY’s Christine Brennan was about one incident, so I did a deep dive into her WBB coverage this season. Of the 18 WBB columns of Brennan’s that I read from this year, 17 were about Clark.

    99 percent of Hurricane Matthew aid requested by NC denied by Trump administration
    Updated: May. 10, 2017 at 4:56 PM CDT
    RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) – The State of North Carolina requested $929 million from the federal government to help with costs associated with Hurricane Matthew, but the state will be receiving far less than that, according to an announcement by Gov. Roy Cooper.
    North Carolina will receive only $6.1 million from the Trump administration. That’s 99 percent less than the requested amount.
    In a letter Cooper sent to the president and other officials today, he expressed “shock and disappointment in the lack of federal funding for Hurricane Matthew recovery efforts.

    The governor had worked with Sen. Thom Tillis and Representatives David Price (D) and Rep. David Rouzer (R) in April to come up with a request to Congress to help cover the costs associated with the destruction left by Matthew.

    This is just petty. Republicans aren’t really concerned with what’s happening on the ground — they know the President has already taken action. Instead, they’re pushing a bogus comparison to Bush and Katrina, just to try and hurt VP Harris in the election.

    Really sick stuff.

    Imagine having to survive a Category 4 hurricane

    – with no federally backed flood insurance
    – with no NOAA or National Weather Service
    – with no federal funds to help your state and local govts

    That’s all in Trump’s Project 2025.

    He’s rich enough to ride out a storm. Are you?
