When I left my rent stabilized apartment in 2010 because my husband and I made “too much,” the income cut off was $200K. Income cut offs were repealed in 2019 by the NY State Legislature. A person or couple making 200K annually was by no means close to rich living in Manhattan even back in 2010. The reality is that NYC has become increasingly unaffordable to almost everyone except the extremely wealthy. Artists, musicians and the working class were all but pushed out decades ago. Mamdani’s proposed changes are long overdue to keep NYC vibrant, diverse and affordable to working families.

Derek recently called into The Ramsey Show to talk about his girlfriend, who’s 26 years old and has been in college for eight years completing her bachelor’s degree. Derek’s girlfriend has an interesting arrangement with her parents where they pay for her living expenses as long as she’s in school.
This, as you might imagine, has Derek very concerned.
