Here is the link to go to so that you might find out the particulars about healthcare.gov info for your state:

    https://www.pcip.gov/StatePlans.html

  4. vettte says:

So I went to Healthcare.gov, I have a pre-existing condition and am uninsurer. Followed the links. So by states the deductible is different. In the state of Texas, you know the one where Rick Perry wants to secede, the deductible is a whoping $2500 (and I assume that is annually. The monthly premiums are about the same as Blue Cross Blue Shield. The monthly premium for me is still about $600 a month. The only difference is that they can’t deny me because I have a pre-existing illness. NOW EXACTLY WHO WAS HEALTH CARE REFORM MADE AFFORDABLE FOR? WOW!

Here are the details for Texas. And oh, don’t be alarmed, Minnesota’s deductible is also $2500.

    Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan: Texas

On July 1, eligible residents of Texas will be able to apply for coverage through the state’s Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan program run by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

    To qualify for coverage:

•You must be a citizen or national of the United States or lawfully present in the United States.

•You must have been uninsured for at least the last six months before you apply.

•You must have had a problem getting insurance due to a pre-existing condition.

PCIP will cover a broad range of health benefits, including primary and specialty care, hospital care, and prescription drugs. All covered benefits are available for you, even if it’s to treat a preexisting condition.

In addition to your monthly premium, you will pay other costs. You will pay a $2,500 deductible for covered benefits (except for preventive services) before the plan starts to pay. After you pay the deductible, you will pay a $25 copayment for doctor visits, $4 to $30 for most prescription drugs, and 20% of the costs of any other covered benefits you get. Your out-of-pocket costs cannot be more than $5,950 per year. These costs may be higher, if you go outside the plan’s network.

So, now I’m in the process of GETTING DENIED by Blue Cross Blue Shield in order to be eligible for the HealthCare.gov plan. I spend an hour or so filling out the online application. The first paragraph in the app intro says, if you are diabetic, you are NOT eligible. Oh goody, I’m on my way right. So I pick a mid-range plan, still over $600 monthly. At the end of the app for a provider that I already no is going to deny me, the instructions say that the first month payment is due NOW, put in your credit care info here. Well, the are going to tie up my money for a money (making interest off of it) while they are taking their time to deny me and send me a check in the mail a month later. This is just not acceptable. Geesh! I have to be missing something.

    • "Ametia" says:

Thanks for the link, vette. Hubby and our premiums have increased as well. We knew someone was going to have to pay for this HCR bill.

Are you going to write or call for further info/explanation/clarification?

      • vettte says:

I am going to call BCBS to see if I can get denied without submitting money. I think the healthcare guidelines are quite clear. The question is whether it is affordable.

AND…….MICHEL MARTIN SLAMS THE HAMMER DOWN!

NPR’s Michel Martin Links Timothy McVeigh to Catholicism: ‘Did Anybody Move a Catholic Church?’ …CRICKETS…

By Brad Wilmouth (Bio | Archive)
    Sun, 08/22/2010 – 11:55 ET

On Sunday’s Reliable Sources on CNN, during a discussion of the Ground Zero mosque controversy, after Bloomberg’s Margaret Carlson recommended that the mosque be moved as a compromise, NPR’s Michel Martin – formerly of ABC News – compared relocating the mosque to moving a Catholic church after the Oklahoma City bombing. Martin: “Did anybody move a Catholic church? Did anybody move a Christian church after Timothy McVeigh – who adhered to a cultic, white supremacist cultic version of Christianity – bombed the Murrah building in Oklahoma?”

Below is a transcript of the relevant exchange from the Sunday, August 22, Reliable Sources on CNN:

MARGARET CARLSON: And wouldn’t it be a great thing if they moved it a few blocks? And Muslims and Americans who still worry would be talking to each other. Let’s compromise.

MICHEL MARTIN: Why should they move it?

CARLSON: Well, why don’t we compromise?

MARTIN: Did anybody move a Catholic church? Did anybody move a Christian church after Timothy McVeigh – who adhered to a cultic, white supremacist cultic version of Christianity – bombed the Murrah building in Oklahoma?

CARLSON: Even now, if somebody tried to build a Shinto Shrine at Pearl Harbor, I think there would be a negotiation over how far away.

Afghan President Says U.S. Contractors Are Looting, Stealing, Causing Corruption

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/22/karzai-us-taxpayerfunded-_n_690385.html

Afghanistan’s embattled president Hamid Karzai said on Sunday that U.S. taxpayers were indirectly funding “mafia-like groups” and terrorist activities with the American government’s support of private contractors inside his country.

In a rare U.S. media appearance, Karzai continued to press for the removal of the vast majority of U.S. private contractors by the end of this year. He argued that their continued presence inside Afghanistan was “an obstruction and impediment” to the country’s growth, a massive waste of money, and a catalyst for corruption among Afghan officials.

“The more we wait the more we lose,” Karzai said during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week.” “Therefore we have decided as an Afghan government to bring an end to the presence of these security companies… who are not only causing corruption in this country but who are looting and stealing from the Afghan people.

GOP SENATE LEADER: I TAKE OBAMA ‘AT HIS WORD’ THAT HE’S A CHRISTIAN

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/22/mcconnell-obama-christian_n_690412.html

With a growing portion of the populace convinced that President Obama is a Muslim, political observers and reporters have begun asking just how such information could be so widely disseminated. On Sunday, their ears perked a bit when Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) would only go so far as to take Obama “at this word” that he was a Christian.

“The president says he’s a Christian. I take him at his word,” McConnell told Meet the Press host David Gregory. “I think the faith that most Americans are questioning is the President’s faith in the government to generate jobs. We’ve had an 18-month effort here on the part of this administration to prime the pump, borrow money, spend money, hire new federal government employees, sending money down to states so they don’t have to layoff state employees. People are saying: Where are the jobs? The president’s faith in the government to stimulate the economy is what people are questioning.”

Politico’s Mike Allen gave the exchange top treatment in his daily Playbook email, under the header “SIREN — OR SHOULD WE SAY “DOG WHISTLE”? NBC’s Chuck Todd, via Twitter, offered his own take, noting that it was an “Odd way to phrase it.”

All the GOP has is fear. Pathetic ass clowns!

Blagojevich pulls in $50 an autograph at Comic Con
    August 22, 2010
BY CHERYL V. JACKSON Staff Reporter

In a room where fans swarmed the captains of the SS Enterprise, Anakin Skywalker and Batman, Illinois’ own larger than life character, Rod Blagojevich, attracted as many if not more of his own groupies Saturday.
The ex-governor repeatedly smiled and posed with admirer after admirer at the Wizard World Chicago Comic Con at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.

Despite the presence of some 500 actors, artists, writers, pro wrestlers and models, Blagojevich was touted atop the show’s website and enjoyed prime real estate on the convention floor with a booth near the entrance.

While Blago got no appearance fee, he kept proceeds from autographs ($50 each) and photos ($80 a pop).

Jeremy Scheuch, who had an image of the former governor tattooed on his thigh, was one of an undisclosed number of fans who shelled out cash for the newly convicted Blagojevich’s signature and photo.

“We need to get him on the next jury,’’ Blagojevich said of Scheuch, a 31-year-old event planner from Humboldt Park.

When Rose Gottemoeller began negotiating the new nuclear treaty with Moscow, the U.S. diplomat got questions on the usual topics: missile defense, warheads, inspections.

And then there was this one from the Russian generals: “How come you’ve got so many women?”
