Good Morning, Everyone!  Happy Sunday!

Job: 42:10~ And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

From Wikipedia:

Dorinda Clark-Cole (born Dorinda Grace Clark) is a three-time Grammy Award winning American evangelist and gospel singer. She is best known as a member of The Clark Sisters and as a daughter of pioneering choral director Mattie Moss Clark.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Clark-Cole began singing at an early age with her sisters Karen, Twinkie, Jacky, and Denise. The sisters sang in their pastor father’s church and usually performed songs written and composed by their mother. Clark-Cole, who is referred to as the “jazzy sister” of the group, helped develop what is known as “The Clark Sound”, which often features high and fast melismas, riffs, runs, and soulful growls. Dorinda sang lead on “Overdose Of The Holy Ghost”, “My Reedemer Liveth” the B-side to The Clark Sisters’ biggest single “You Brought the Sunshine” [2]

    The Associated Press

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Associated Press has withdrawn its story about Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Wright referred to people who wrongly believe Obama is Muslim as “sycophants,” not psychopaths.

A corrected story will be sent shortly.

  5. Today At Big Think: Glenn Beck Tries To Be King For A Day

    http://simplifythepositive.blogspot.com/

Glenn Beck’s appeal is that he makes it all look so easy.

I mean, all you have to do is wave your American flag, pledge allegiance to God (the white version), bake in the sun for a few hours, and you are on your way to redemption, free at last, free at last from the reluctant acceptance of any lingering guilt about your complicity in this whole racial inequality mess, because by golly, you were the ones who really began the civil rights movement, and you were the ones who have been measuring people, not by the color of their skins but by the content of their character all these years, and…

…except the reality is, you probably would have had nothing to do with the civil rights movement, not if you are the kind of person who can praise Martin Luther King Jr. in one breath and demonize Barack Hussein Obama Jr. in the next, the way your fearless leader does on his radio and TV shows.

Reihan Salam Attempts to Excuse Beck’s Racism and Murdoch’s Approval of His Extremism
    By Heather

    Snip
The part of this segment I found really irritating was the National Review’s Reihan Salam and his dismissiveness of Rupert Murdoch’s control over Glenn Beck. Glenn Beck doesn’t do anything on the air without the full approval of his station’s ownership and to pretend he doesn’t is just nonsense.

Matthews: Reihan Salam, this whole thing, I think it gets ethnic, I think it is tribal. I listened to Rush Limbaugh this week saying, you know, we’re not Islamaphobic, we elected Barack Obama. That proves we’re not Islamaphobic. That’s saying he’s Islamic again when the guy’s a Christian.

Salam: I don’t think that’s quite what it’s saying. I think what it’s saying is that Barack Obama is someone who comes from a very different kind of background and Americans have embraced him in large numbers. I also think the idea respectfully that Glenn Beck is… ah… you know… is being controlled by Rupert Murdoch as his puppet master gets things wrong. (crosstalk)

When you look at Glenn Beck you see someone for example, remember Louis Farrakhan and the Million Man March. What was the Million Man March about? A lot of people were terrified by that. It caused a lot of consternation among liberals and conservatives. But ultimately what you saw was an event where tons of African American men got together and it was really about identity and pride.

And I think that when you are looking at our politics right now, it’s true that in an economic downturn you see a lot of confusion, you see a lot of uncertainty and there is a decent number of people who feel like now “have nots”, but they feel like “are nots”. They feel like they’re not being respected in our public life and they want to assert themselves….

Matthews: Who are the Glenn Beck constituency?

Salam: I think that it’s a lot of folks. It’s a lot of people from smaller cities, rural areas, small towns, tend to be white, tend to be ah…

Five years later, a richer, whiter New Orleans
Statistically, New Orleans is experiencing something of a boom. But don’t be fooled about the reason why
    BY MATT DAVIS

Still reeling in the wake of the BP oil disaster, New Orleans is approaching the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina on Sunday. The city has replaced almost all its levees, moved and upgraded pumping stations, written new evacuation plans for the most vulnerable residents, and is now well prepared to withstand another 100-year storm like the one that hit five years ago.
New Orleans now hosts 354,850 residents, almost 78 percent of its pre-Katrina population. At the same time, the city has become significantly whiter since the storm: It is now only 60 percent black, compared to 67 percent black, pre-Katrina. And many of the poorer black people who left town after the storm have yet to return.
New Orleans has gone through a boom while other cities have suffered during the recent recession. The number of poor people living in Orleans Parish has halved to 68,000 over the last five years, with median household incomes rising to $47,585 — just as household incomes declined nationally over the same period. There is a healthier share of middle-class families in downtown New Orleans.

The Billionaires Bankrolling the Tea PartyBy FRANK RICH
    Published: August 28, 2010

ANOTHER weekend, another grass-roots demonstration starring Real Americans who are mad as hell and want to take back their country from you-know-who. Last Sunday the site was Lower Manhattan, where they jeered the “ground zero mosque.” This weekend, the scene shifted to Washington, where the avatars of oppressed white Tea Party America, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin, were slated to “reclaim the civil rights movement” (Beck’s words) on the same spot where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. had his dream exactly 47 years earlier.

How Bush and Blair plotted in secret to stop Brown
    Patrick Hennessy and Andrew Alderson
    Published: 9:24PM BST 28 Aug 2010

Tony Blair attempted to prolong his time as prime minister after he was warned that George W Bush’s US administration had “grave doubts” about Gordon Brown’s suitability to follow him into No10, well placed sources have revealed.

The White House warnings, which were reiterated by other leading US-based figures, played a key role in Mr Blair’s attempt to cling on to power until at least 2008, and to groom David Miliband as his successor, The Sunday Telegraph has been told.

Mr Blair hatched his plot to stay on longer than planned after being told that President Bush and those around him would have “big problems” working with Mr Brown.

Senior officials in the US administration sounded the alert after a meeting between Mr Brown and Condoleezza Rice, Mr Bush’s secretary of state, in which Mr Brown “harangued” her over American policy on aid, development and Africa.

After the uncomfortable session, sources said she reported her misgivings to the White House, and they were sent on in turn to Mr Blair.

After taking the warnings on board, Mr Blair signalled his intention to stay on at No 10 until at least 2008, the year of the US election to choose a successor to Mr Bush.

We must not fundamentally transform America, as some would want,” Palin said. “We must restore America and restore her honor.”

“Here today, at the crossroads of our history, may this day be the change point,” Palin said. “Look around you. You’re not alone. You are Americans! You have the same steel spine and the moral courage of Washington and Lincoln and Martin Luther King. It is in you. It will sustain you as it sustained them.”

By restoring honor, Palin means the perceived loss of dignity they have suffered by having a black president.

Obama to hit campaign trail after island vacation
President aims to reassure voters on US economy
    By Mark Arsenault
    Globe Staff / August 29, 2010

OAK BLUFFS — For 10 days, even as dire housing and economic reports continued, President Obama kept to a disciplined vacation schedule, allowing only the occasional glimpse of him on Martha’s Vineyard as he golfed, dined, and relaxed.

But now, Democratic Party officials said, a recharged president will hit the midterm election hustings with a message tuned to echo his 2008 campaign theme of “Hope’’ and seek to persuade skeptical Americans that his long-promised economic recovery is real.

“He is still a very strong energizer of the Democratic vote,’’ said Tim Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee. “He’s going to be hustling on the road until the November election and he’ll be relishing the opportunity.’’

  14. Sharpton: ‘Don’t mistake progress for arrival’

    http://www.thegrio.com/top-stories/rev-al-sharptons-rally-in-washington-dc.php

WASHINGTON (AP) — One rally in the nation’s capital is over, and another under way.

From the marble steps of the Lincoln Memorial, conservative commentator Glenn Beck and tea party champion Sarah Palin appealed to a vast, predominantly white crowd on the National Mall to help restore traditional American values and honor Martin Luther King’s message. A group of civil rights leaders, organized by the Rev. Al Sharpton, accused the group of hijacking King’s legacy and held their own rally and march.

The dueling rallies come on the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial.

Sharpton told his rally it’s important to keep King’s dream alive, and that despite progress more needs to be done. He said “Don’t mistake progress for arrival.”

  16. Beck’s Rally Attendees Talk Immigration, Obama, Guns For ‘Terrorists’

Listen to this guy when asked if the President has come to take his guns. Why isn’t he in jail?

    • Ametia says:

Uh huh, the rally was all about God and American values….. Right.

And that guy had to stop and think about the answer to the question about folks on terrorist watch list owning guns. Because ‘SOMEBODY” like him could be taken as a terrorist because he’s at a tea party.”

You got that right buddy, some white americans are foreign domestic terrorist too. Better go home and study up on the facts, or you bettta ask somebody!

Love the Ethiopian lady at the end of the vid. She’s got the right stuff.

      • The Ethiopian lady was on the mark. The guy spewing threats at the President need to be visited by the Secret Service. Folks like him are ticking time-bombs.

      • Ametia says:

The more these bigots are given the spotlight, the more embolden they become. We get to see their true colors. So again the reason for that klan rally was about God….. Nope, we saw the cowardly racist for exactly who they are, hiding behind a few black coons on stage.

You can’t hide the hate, dude. And yes, there is no doubt that the SS shouldn’t be flagging this bigots as a threat to POTUS.
