Tamron Hall Debuts ‘Natural Hair’ on TV
    Daytime 1:14 mins

“Today” show anchor Tamron Hall has always had adorable hair, but for the first time ever, she showed America how her hair naturally looks … which is still adorable. She said, “This is my first time in my entire life wearing natural hair on TV,” to which Matt Lauer joked, “Do you normally use artificial hair?” However, Lauer wasn’t expecting her comeback, “No, that would be for you,” prompting everyone to erupt in laughter, with Carson Daly saying off-camera, “You got served!” Fun times for the “Today” show crew on a Friday

Alabama veteran granted VA benefits after more than 50 years of denials

    MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) –

A Korean War Veteran’s 56-year struggle for Veterans Affairs benefits is finally over.

Willie McCall, 85, suffers from debilitating, combat-related health issues and was essentially forgotten by the federal government. Before totally giving up on his VA benefits, McCall’s nephew, Freddie Porterfield, contacted the 12 News Defenders.

McCall says during his time as a rifleman during the Korean conflict, the weather was so cold it left him with frostbite, jungle rot and circulation issues. He walks with a cane and has special orthotic shoes.

Despite multiple diagnoses, he was denied VA benefits. His denials go back to the late ’50s.

Recent documents show the VA sent McCall to a doctor to assess his condition before the latest hearing. Despite the doctor’s written order confirming the combat wounds, the VA didn’t consider that document and denied benefits again.

WSFA 12 News took the problem to the Central Alabama VA. Several weeks of calls, forms, and multiple emails later, the VA granted McCall’s benefits. The VA also gave the veteran more than $100,000 in back pay.

The good news doesn’t end there. The VA set up more appointments for potential compensation for health claims.

WSFA 12 News received a statement Wednesday afternoon from the director of the VA regional office confirming McCall’s benefits had been granted due to the diagnosis that wasn’t considered during McCall’s latest hearing.

  5. The Racism Behind Boehner’s Threats to Sue Obama

    http://www.alternet.org/tea-party-and-right/racism-behind-boehners-threats-sue-obama

First, the Republicans were gleeful that the Democratic Party had nominated a black man who’s middle name was Hussein to run for president. They figured beating him would be a cakewalk, and didn’t even get too upset when John McCain picked a fringe politician from Alaska as his running mate.

After all, Obama was black and his middle name was Hussein – how could they lose even if their nominee was an elderly crank and their vice presidential nominee was a former sports reporter on local television?

But Obama won and the disrespect began. Congressman Joe Wilson shouted “you lie” during a presidential Joint Address to Congress.

Rumors circulated in the far right blogs that the president was secretly born in Kenya, and therefore wasn’t even legitimately President of the United States. He wasn’t even a legitimate citizen. After all, he was black.

The question on the minds of so many Republicans was, “What is that black man doing in our White House?”

  6. Good morning! Happy Sunday, everyone!
