Two police officers were shot during overnight protests in Ferguson, Missouri, the St. Louis County Police Department said.
A St. Louis County officer, 41, was struck in the shoulder, while a Webster Groves police officer, 32, was struck in the face, county police chief John Belmar said. The officers were conscious, but their conditions aren’t known, said Belmar, who spoke to media members outside of Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
“These police officers were standing there, and they were shot just because they were police officers,” Belmar said.
Belmar said at least three shots were fired from an undetermined location north or northwest of the Ferguson Police Department building.
“We have seen in law enforcement that this is a very, very, very dangerous environment for the officers to work in regarding the amount of gunfire that we have experienced up there,” Belmar said.

I won’t be a bit surprised if the shooter is someone who wanted to blame the shooting on protesters to make them look violent in order to stop the protests.

The shooter wanted police to start firing into the crowd and killing up a lot of people. A dangerous mofo. They were angry Tom Jackson resigned & this was about revenge.

SG2, I sincerely believe that the FPD conspired with someone to take those shots at the crowd and PoPo to distract from the vileness of their department’s actions over its citizens, and the line of them resigning like falling dominoes.

This was my first thought too. These shootings just smack of a setup. Reminds me of Don Draper’s (Mad Men) famous quote, “If you do not like what is being said, change the conversation.”
