McKinney Texas Police Brutality | Open Thread

This is the mentality of some of the white folk in McKinney. The cops deserve a’ ‘MEDAL,’ according to this woman, for abusing unarmed black teens.

No doubt if this were her daughter and let’s say a Black cop had slung her bikini-clad 14 year old to the ground, pulled her hair and straddled her from behind like he was ready to have sex with her. JUST SAYIN’

The ‘Invisible’ White Man Holding the Camera in McKinney

The video of Officer Eric Casebolt shoving an unarmed, black 15-year-old’s face into dirt before holding her at gunpoint is proof: Only white people can choose to be invisible when the police come.
The most telling detail about this weekend’s viral video from McKinney, Texas, is the part you can’t see: the race of the man behind the camera, the one who’s holding the phone.
Brandon Brooks, the man who took the video, casually walks around from place to place filming Officer Eric Casebolt performing a tuck-and-roll, as though dodging imaginary gunfire, before grabbing a 15-year-old girl in a bikini, shoving her face into the dirt, and pulling a gun on bystanders.

McKinney Pool Party Video Update: Texas City’s Residents Say They Are Segregated By Economic Class, Race
    June 12, 2015

Chanelle Yarber lives in a quiet subdivision on the more affluent side of McKinney, Texas. But customers who saw her ringing purchases as a minimum wage, part-time sales associate at the local Target two years ago might not have placed her on the city’s upscale west side because of her skin color, she says.

Most of her former co-workers were from the poorer, less maintained part of town — the side with a large concentration of low-income African-Americans and Hispanics. Yarber, who is black and now works as an independent Internet marketer, said she was reminded of the disdainful glares she received from Target customers when she read about how a few McKinney adults insulted a group of black teenagers attending a pool party on the west side last week, prompting a violent response from white police officers that quickly made national headlines.

YES! Next up, ERIC CASEBOLT. His attorney stood before the camera a few hrs ago offering that POS apology & then turned around and made excuses for his behavior

      FUCK’EM BOTH!

  2. Ametia says:

any word on what happened to that slob in the tan shirt?

  3. Ametia says:

    WHELP!

  4. Ametia says:

These fools can cut the ‘both sides did it’ BULLSHIT. If you’re attached and being shouting down with racial slurs… What would you do?

The bottom line is these racist POS have the mentality that these black kids should just do what they’re told and shut up, without defending themselves. These adult should know better, but you can’t know & do better when your whole mindset is full of hate and racism.

I think I should post the full statement here as a permanent record, and so here it is:

NOW President Terry O’Neill Calls for Immediate Dismissal of the Police Officer and Full Investigation by U.S. Department of Justice
      06.09.2015

Washington, D.C. – We can only look with revulsion on the images from McKinney, Tex., of a white police officer pushing a 15-year old Black girl in a bathing suit face-down on the ground and placing a knee on her back. Today, we are shocked, angered, and deeply worried for the well being of this young woman. Tomorrow, we need answers, and action.

If the girl had been white, would she have received the same treatment from the white police officers on the scene?

Would the white police officer involved have even considered pulling a white teenage girl by the hair while screaming “ON YOUR FACE!” and then sitting on top of her while she cries, “call my mother”?

Would the white police officers have responded to a similar incident involving unarmed white teenagers at a community pool by an outrageous use of violence and intimidation: brandishing weapons, placing the teens in handcuffs, and verbally and physically abusing them?

Placing the officer on administrative leave is an insufficient response, particularly in light of the fact that this police department has a history of racial tension. NOW calls for the immediate firing of the police officer who committed the abuse, and immediate leave without pay for the officers who abetted him. In addition, NOW calls on the U.S. Department of Justice to immediately launch a full-scale investigation into the conduct of the McKinney, Texas police department. We can no longer tolerate the racial injustice that seems to have become a hallmark of too many police departments across our nation. Black girls’ lives matter.

      • Ametia says:

        No apologies,

We can all sleep better now, (pun intended) knowing they have made a statement., after years, days of reading our blogs, tweets. Even the message reads like strung together comments from our postings.

but nothing about the White women attacked physically and verbally the Black woman.

I was thinking about this last night. The HOA that I live in has over 800 homes. I was the president of the Board of Directors for about three years. I won’t say why, its a long story. But it has been my experience that the trouble makers are a relatively small percentage of the homeowners. Our situation is somewhat different because we do not have shared facilities, the HOA does landscaping and CC&R (covenants, codes, restrictions) enforcement. I can’t think of more than about 15 to 20 trouble makers in all that time, people who were always looking for a fight, complaining about their neighbors and so forth. They could be really obnoxious, the ones who
were persistent, and I finally started having the meetings at a public library which is adjacent to a police station. I thought that might be a deterrent, and it was for a few of them.

So, I’m wondering about Craig Ranch and how many of these white folks are the trouble makers and do they really want to start a civil war over this. If they have anyone on their Board of Directors with a grain of intelligence, and if they have a reasonably good management company, they will want to put an end to this as quickly as possible. The entire association is legally liable for what happens there, it doesn’t matter if only a couple of homeowners started the trouble.

  6. Liza says:

Isn’t it just like CNN to hand a microphone to some white b!tch who clearly believes that whatever she says will trump the stories of the black witnesses and even the videos because she “saw the whole thing.” Therefore, everything else is hooey. Only she knows the truth.

    • Liza says:

Oh, and she can’t come forward with her identity because of death threats.

Thanks, CNN, for your usual contribution which is to give unsubstantiated talking points to the fools who think you report real news.

  7. Ametia says:

I want white woman to tell us what they saw & heard in the videos we’ve been posting and tell me that there was NOT any racial animus towards those black teens and Dajerria Becton, being slammed to the ground, hair pulled, straddled like a wild pony by the brute force of a white police officer.

Because if you tell us what we saw and experienced wasn’t racial, then YOU ARE PART OF THE RACSIM.

Since when did so-called wild teen parties,’ etc. become a crime for the police abuse we’ve seen in McKinney?

    WAITING…..

  8. CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield is trying to dismiss the cop attacking, dragging a 14yr old girl in a bikini and then sitting straddle on her.

    • Ametia says:

What Ashleigh Banfield, along with other white women are saying in defending these brute animal cops is a distraction from the fact that white women were hurling racial slurs and fighting with the teens, and weren’t called out for it via the MEDIA.

So yes, they’re going to say all is fine with these cops for terrorizing the black teens, and keeping their LILY WHITE ASSES SAFE.

      YEAH, I SAID IT.

  9. ASHLEIGH BANFIELD GOT DAMN!

@CNNAshleigh says a cop stated Dajerria’s screaming can be considered to incite others to continue disruption>

  10. Kathleen says:

Here’s an interview with a former McKinney police officer which is on point. I do disagree with his opinion, however, that the incident was not racially motivated:

    • Ametia says:

This was a BULLSHIT interview with a former McKinney cop. who the hell would ever believe a former McKinney cop in a town that is 70% white.

“But Schulte draws the line at saying this incident was a black and white issue.”

      REALLY?!

“Racial motivation. I don’t think that was the key. I just think that was the way they were in this particular situation. Probably not the best thing to do when you have a video.”

NAW SON, we’ve got eyes & ears. And it’s insulting for you or anyone to try and convince us that Eric Casebolt and his comrades, or the adults in McKinney are a bunch of racists.

      GTFOH

  11. For Black Women, Police Brutality And Sexual Harassment Go Hand-In-Hand

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/08/black-women-police-brutality_n_7536896.html

There is a moment in the McKinney, Texas pool party video that’s both horrifying and absurd: when Cpl. Eric Casebolt manhandles, violently restrains, then sits on top of an unarmed, 15-year-old, bikini-clad black girl as she cries for her mother.

The absurdity, of course, lies in how unnecessary and over-the-top Casebolt’s behavior is (earlier in the YouTube clip, he barrel rolls across a lawn for no reason in particular). But the horror emerges from the undertones of sexual violence in that instant. Casebolt pulls the girl by her hair, forces her face against the ground and presses his knee into her back — all while she pleads for him to stop. Here’s a grown man, forcing a young girl into submission against her will. The video acts as a prime example of the inherent reality of both physical and sexual harassment against black women and girls at the hands of cops.

The scene is reminiscent of a video that went viral last year. The clip featured 51-year-old Marlene Pinnock being punched repeatedly by California Highway Patrolman Daniel Andrew. Equally as problematic as his brute force was the compromising and dehumanizing position the patrolman had her in. Andrew straddled Pinnock as he beat her, with her torso and bra exposed. Pinnock later reached a settlement in the case, with Andrew never charged, and his sexual harassment never acknowledged.

  12. Churchlady320 says:

I cannot understand the older white women in that neighborhood. The kids – and despite CNN’s calling the teen a “woman” she is not, she’s a kid – were not bothering any of the neighbors. Creating danger for these young people with racist slurs, calling the police on an argument, and then whooping it up by fighting with the kids, these women show their racism and slavering hate. The pool party was integrated – there were white kids who’d invited everyone – so what is it to these women other than pure evil hearts wanting to see harm done. My heart goes out to eh 15-year-old girl who must have been terrified. No one should have to experience that.

    • yahtzeebutterfly says:

      I agree with you, Churchlady.

For those who did not see the Tatiana’s interview describing how things unfolded, here is the interview video with my transcript of it:

      https://youtu.be/uZjHwOHFJGk&rel=0

TATIANA ROSE: My name is Tatiana Rose. Yeah…so basically what happened was me and my sister and and a few friends made a cookout and I basically (?) when I went to get my key pad from someone, this lady was saying racial slurs to some friends that came to the cookout.

INTERVIEWER: What kind of slurs was she saying?

TATIANA ROSE: She was saying things such as Black F…er, that’s why you live in Section 8 homes. There was also a male that was saying rude things. And this 14 year old girl named Grace which is my brother’s friend stuck up for us saying, “That is not right. You shouldn’t do that. That’s racist.” and things like that.

So then they started verbally abusing her saying that she needs to do better for herself, be better for herself, cursing at her.

And, I’m saying, “No. That’s wrong. She’s 14. You should not say things like that to a 14 year old.” And, they’re like “You need to go back to where you’re from.” and things like that telling me I need to go back to my Section 8 home and stuff like that.

So, I said, “Excuse me?” And then the other lady, her name’s Kate, came up to me and she smacked me in my face. She…

      INTERVIEWER: Now is Kate white?

TATIANA ROSE: Kate’s Caucasian. And, she went and she hit me in my face. And, that’s when both of the women attacked me.

INTERVIEWER: And, just for clarity, you live in this neighborhood. Is that correct?

TATIANA ROSE: Yes. I live in Craig Ranch.

INTERVIEWER: Alright. Most of the people that attended this also live in Craig Ranch. Is that right?

      TATIANA ROSE: Yes.

INTERVIEWER: And, mom, do you want to say anything? Will you say your name for me?

LASHANA BURKS: I am LaShana Burks. I’m just upset that we couldn’t have a peaceful event and, if there was any issues that they truly had, that they should have came to me, the adult that was here at the event, and say, “Hey we don’t want the kids, ….whatever…” then let me handle it and not go to the extreme.

INTERVIEWER: Right. And most of the kids here were like classmates of them that were inviting so like in the area.

LASHANA BURKS: Definitely. (Her word in the affirmative is hard to make out.) So it was, you know, food and everything.

INTERVIEWER: Yes, ma’am. Alright, thank you. I appreciate

Here is the video of those 2 women fighting the teen.

      https://youtu.be/vlIvb9ARJC8&rel=0

If you watch it full screen you can see one of the 2 women has a hold on the girl’s hair pulling it. In order for her hairpiece braid not to be pull out, the girl defensively holds that braid in the hand of the woman and keeps the woman’s hand near her hand so the woman cannot succeed in pulling it out. At the same time both sides try to pull them apart after the 2nd lady has hit the girl.

Finally they are separated, but you can see at timestamp :09 that the girl is holding her braid that the woman was pulling at. She was able to hold onto it, but it had been pulled out by the woman.

      • Ametia says:

Thanks for posting, yahtzee. GROWN ASS WOMEN, fighting teenagers, SMH. They need to be CHARGED as well.

      • yahtzeebutterfly says:

        YW, Ametia.

(Incidentally, at timestamp 0:17 you can see a woman making a call on her cellphone. She is wearing a white top and has a hairdo just like the one of the woman interviewed in the video you posted first in your article above.)

      You better PREACH, Churchlady320!

Why haven’t you interviewed Brandon Brooks, the white teenager who videotaped the pool party fiasco with cop Eric Casebolt?
