    I’ve maintained that the Obamas have provided the highest profiles of the bullshit that Black folks from all walks of life have had to put up with.

      Besides her dishonest refusal to take a stance on anything, straddling and triangulating on important issues, her stiff, scripted, uncomfortable and eye cast down/away responses – particularly to questions about POTUS, are pathetic…

      Even her weak attempt at giving President Obama credit to get buy-in from the Obama coalition, is still so half-hearted, reluctant and unconvincing at best after all these years. And after he’s boosted her resume immensely by giving her the Sec of State title she now proudly wields as ‘experience’.

    New York Prison Worker Joyce Mitchell Was Investigated for Sexual Incident With Escapees
    June 15, 2015

    Joyce Mitchell, the prison worker accused of helping two inmates escape in upstate New York, was investigated for a prior sexual incident with escapee David Sweat, sources familiar with the investigation told NBC News.

    After the incident, which was investigated by prison officials, the other escapee, Richard Matt, charmed himself into her affection — so much that she “thought it was love,” sources said.

    District Attorney Andrew Wylie said on Friday that Mitchell was previously investigated because of a complaint that she had a relationship with Sweat, but he said there wasn’t “sufficient information” to remove her from the prison or charge her.

    In an interview with NBC News, Wylie said Mitchell was going to pick up the two escapees at the prison power plant and run away with them. He said Mitchell brought in blades, drill bits and other tools that helped the prisoners escape.

    Mitchell agreed to be the getaway driver but backed out because she still loved her husband, prosecutors said as the manhunt entered its 10th day Monday.

    About the whining from the WHPC about the First Couple’s Party this past weekend.

    It’s the fact that the First Couple had a party for FIVE HUNDRED PEOPLE (if true), and they didn’t have a clue UNTIL IT WAS OVER.

    For me, didn’t have to be 500…coulda only been 50…and the fact that those jackals didn’t know a damn thing….that many mouths stayed shut…..

    that they DON’T have ‘ an in’ with this Administration, leaking shyt to them..

    Libertarian ideology is nothing less than an existential threat to America’s security, cohesion, safety and health. It seeks to undo the social bonds that tie us together. It wishes to turn rich against poor and powerful against weak. It recognizes no moral code except for that established by the self-serving billionaire.

    All of us—progressives, centrists, moderates, even the handful of rational conservatives left—have a moral obligation to fight the cancer of libertarianism and keep it from growing within the body of our democracy; if we don’t fight it, our democracy will soon wind up in hospice care. We must condemn libertarianism as a radical ideology that’s every bit as pernicious as the radical ideologies of the past. We must educate our young people to understand that the end result of Ayn Rand is a social and economic wasteland. We must challenge libertarian ideologues and denounce them for their efforts to destroy the policies that have kept our nation strong since the New Deal. We must, in essence, declare war on libertarian ideology, for it is at war with America’s best values.

    Since libertarianism is an assault on our country’s protections and principles, one cannot be both a libertarian and a patriot.

    The Kochs have chosen sides.

      I saw that on BJ and decided not to dip into Comments. Lots of BJ DudeBro love. Zandar also posted that on his site and I was tempted to suggest in comments that he not post it at BJ but I know he’s a grown man entitled to do what he wants. Some of the commenters on his posts are nasty, as they were on ABL’s posts (I’m sure there’s no correlation explaining why that might be). I could see this topic sending out sonar to the lizard trolls lurking under the rocks and bringing on the hate.

    We can apparently add former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) to the list of Republicans who don’t fully understand the military offensive President Obama has launched against ISIS targets in the Middle East. Right Wing Watch reported the other day:
    Former Texas governor and GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry told conservative talk radio host Dana Loesch on Wednesday that President Obama hasn’t shown any “engagement to stop ISIS,” which he attributed to the president’s “lack of being able to really connect the dots” and “lack of executive experience.” […]

    “I think that’s the reason ISIS has gone forward, I think that’s the reason Putin is standing there basically laughing at us as we have one lack of impact after another in the global world that we’re living in,” he said.
    The Republican presidential candidate, currently under criminal indictment, added that Syria paid no price for crossing the “red line” established by the Obama administration.

    I’ll admit, criticizing Obama’s “lack of executive experience” continues to be an unintentionally funny line of attack. In 2008, it was a legitimate area of interest (though Obama’s general-election rival had exactly as much executive experience as he did), but in 2015, it’s pretty silly.

    After all, the first word in the phrase “President Obama” is “president.” Obama doesn’t “lack of executive experience”; he’s led the executive branch during a time of war and economic crisis. He has the kind of executive experience few can even try to relate to.

    As for whether or not Vladimir Putin is “laughing at” the United States, he’s really not. Worse yet, when Perry says Syria paid no price, that’s plainly false, too.

    At major gatherings of world leaders, President Obama tends to be one of the more popular, sought-after figures on the global stage. This has been common throughout Obama’s presidency – he may be seen as a divisive leader domestically, but internationally, Obama is generally a towering figure.

    Republicans are heavily invested in believing the opposite. Indeed, one of the more common GOP criticisms of the president is that Obama simply isn’t respected abroad. Republicans routinely insist that, behind the scenes, international officials voice their deep disappointment with the U.S. president, all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.

    Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) actually got specific on this point on Friday, saying that British Prime Minister David Cameron told the far-right governor directly that he’s unsatisfied with American leadership. Time reported:

    Walker, who has taken several trips overseas in recent months to study up on foreign policy in preparation for an all-but-certain presidential bid, told a roomful of Republican donors Friday that world leaders, including Cameron, are worried about the U.S. stepping back in the world. […]

    “I heard that from David Cameron back in February earlier when we were over at 10 Downing,” Walker said. “I heard it from other leaders around the world. They’re looking around realizing this lead from behind mentality just doesn’t work. It’s just not working.”

    If true, this would be a break with diplomatic protocol and a legitimately big deal. It’s unpersuasive when GOP leaders run around telling voters, “Lots of foreign leaders don’t like Obama; we just can’t actually name any.” But here’s Walker saying the British prime minister personally told him that he’s unsatisfied with Obama’s leadership.

    The problem, not surprisingly, is that Cameron quickly pushed back, suggesting the Wisconsinite, who’s repeatedly struggled with foreign policy, has no idea what he’s talking about.

    “The Prime Minister did not say that and does not think that,” a Cameron spokesperson told Time.

    Super White Union Bosses Threaten to Elect More Republicans if Democrats Back Obama’s Trade Agenda

    No one on the Left wants to really believe it. After all, we rightly credit the organized labor movement in this country with achieving for the American worker things like the weekend, the minimum wage, and a plethora of other rights Americans take for granted. We have stood with them in the fights against right-wing attacks to do away with worker protections. Not to mention, labor is the one remaining singularly powerful entity that can somewhat compete with corporations in terms of funding in elections. Not that selling our democracy to the highest bidder should be our goal, but we have to play the cards we are dealt, and until and unless we undo Citizens United, Democrats are going to need money to win elections.

    But from the unitary control of organized financial mechanisms of elections on the Left comes a level of undue influence and the potential ability to become exactly what the Right has long accused big labor of being: thugs. Big unions, in their tradephobic ploy to stop the expansion of enforceable workers’ rights to our trading partners through the Trans-Pacific Partnership, are bullying House Democrats to vote against the most progressive trade agenda in history, or suffer supremely-well funded union opposition in next year’s primaries – and here’s the kicker – general – elections.

    “The AFL-CIO was blunt in the call that went out to Rep. Scott Peters, a Democrat who represents San Diego: Vote yes on fast-track authority and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, people familiar with the conversation recall, and they’d spend a million dollars to knock him out in next year’s primary. If he managed to win, they’d drop another million against him in the general election.”

    And just what happens if the Democratic incumbent has a million dollars dropped against him in the general election by the labor unions, addition to the all the right wing money that will be looking to unseat him? A Republican takes the seat. And if the AFL-CIO is in fact not a wolf in sheep’s clothing, one has to assume that they genuinely believe that an increased Republican majority in the House is in the best interest of American workers.

    In fact, Labor is so incensed at the trade agenda of a president who has been the best friend to both organized labor and other American workers at least since FDR that they are promising to spend more money in next year’s Democratic primaries to knock out Democratic incumbents in marginal districts than their entire campaign budgets in the last few midterms.

    Nothing better shows the infantility of the Republican mindset. These people believe that they’re all kings of their own little islands, that they have a right to use whatever they can get their hands on however they want. They have no concept of community or natural limits. For them, owning a Suburban is just as valid a choice as owning a Prius, climate change is a hoax that shouldn’t affect their choices, and anyone telling them they might have to cut back on something is a busybody interfering in their lives and waging a do-gooder war on their lifestyle. Their wealth doesn’t come at the expense of others because capitalism allows for endless growth and opportunity for those with enough gumption to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. And if they’re rich, the sense of the entitlement is exponentially greater.

    They’re basically overgrown toddlers who don’t want to share and don’t understand how the world really works. And then they cry and feel abused when confronted by reality.

    Water Mess We’re In

    California Republicans in their gated communities are not happy about Gov. Jerry Brown’s new water restrictions. Residents of super-rich places like Rancho Sante Fe are finding out that yes, these bourgeois limitations actually do apply to people like them, and they’re pretty pissed off.

    Drought or no drought, Steve Yuhas resents the idea that it is somehow shameful to be a water hog. If you can pay for it, he argues, you should get your water.

    People “should not be forced to live on property with brown lawns, golf on brown courses or apologize for wanting their gardens to be beautiful,” Yuhas fumed recently on social media. “We pay significant property taxes based on where we live,” he added in an interview. “And, no, we’re not all equal when it comes to water.”

    Yuhas lives in the ultra-wealthy enclave of Rancho Santa Fe, a bucolic Southern California hamlet of ranches, gated communities and country clubs that guzzles five times more water per capita than the statewide average. In April, after Gov. Jerry Brown (D) called for a 25 percent reduction in water use, consumption in Rancho Santa Fe went up by 9 percent.

    But a moment of truth is at hand for Yuhas and his neighbors, and all of California will be watching: On July 1, for the first time in its 92-year history, Rancho Santa Fe will be subject to water rationing.

    Oh, how awful that must be when you find out money can’t buy you everything.

    One of the stranger aspects of a modern presidential campaign is the double roll-out: candidates kick off their national campaign, and then soon after, they do it again, this time for a larger audience. In Hillary Clinton’s case, the Democratic frontrunner launched her bid in a two-minute video in April, and then over the weekend, she held a big rally to drive the point home.

    But in her defense, this weekend’s event on Roosevelt Island in New York wasn’t just a re-hash of her launch nine weeks ago. If the April video was a trailer, Saturday was the feature film. Alex Seitz-Wald reported for msnbc:

    “[I’m running] for everyone who’s ever been knocked down but refused to be knocked out,” said Clinton, who lost her 2008 presidential bid. […]

    Clinton’s speech, which aides have said will serve as guiding document for the rest of her campaign was like a policy sandwich. It began with history, was filled with a meaty list of policy goals, and concluded with her personal motivation for seeking the highest office in the land. In between she bashed Republicans and struck a populist economic tone. What it lacked in sweeping rhetoric it made up for in policy wonkery.
    Indeed, it was one of the most substantive announcement speeches I’ve heard any candidate deliver in recent memory. This wasn’t rah-rah rhetoric intended to generate goose-bumps, it was a 45-minute address, intended to highlight the challenges facing the nation and the Democrat’s vision for addressing them.

    Clinton has never been a great orator, and her campaign aides intend to play to her strengths and avoid her weaknesses. This was clear on Saturday – the former senator and Secretary of State skipped the soaring rhetoric and instead presented a fairly detailed and ambitious policy agenda, filled not only with progressive priorities and economic populism, but also popular policy ideas with broad national support.

      Uh, did I hear the same speech as the author? My gosh, you would think she laid out the blueprint for the 21st century. Not so, I stand by my first reaction. Someone tell me what in this speech was original, has not been hashed, re-hashed, and recycled by countless other candidates, and was presented in at any level of detail? All of this was presented at a conceptual level, even when it was meant to be interpreted as “policy.” Example: Hillary is going to “rewrite the tax code.” Yeah, right, when donkeys fly. That is an idea, a wish, a pipe dream, and nothing more. Hillary also thinks she’s going to be able to work with the Republicans in Congress. She can only do that by becoming a Republican, same as Bill did, but that would kind of negate all of her populist suggestions put forth in this speech. In fact, I like what I just said. Her speech was full of suggestions, and that’s about all. If this is really the “guiding document,” then she really should consider going back to the drawing board and add some substance.
