    We’ve seen some reports this week noting that Donald Trump, who’s repeatedly refused to rule out a third-party presidential bid, may no longer have a choice. CNN, for example, said the Republican frontrunner “must rule out a third-party bid before October if he wants to compete in South Carolina’s Republican primary, a crucial test in the nominating contest.”

    Strictly speaking, that may not be entirely right. South Carolina’s GOP does, in fact, require Republican presidential hopefuls to sign something akin to a loyalty oath, but the wording is almost comically weak: “I hereby affirm that I generally believe in and intend to support the nominees and platform of the Republican Party in the November 8, 2016 general election.”

    Could Trump sign the document about his “general beliefs” and then later change his mind? Maybe. Enforcing loyalty oaths is inherently tricky, so it’s difficult to say with confidence what would happen if a candidate “intends” to support the party’s nominee and then later changes his or her intentions.

    Still, while the Republican National Committee has very little influence over Trump’s chances, Politico reported this week that some state parties are starting to see loyalty oaths as a worthwhile tool aimed at the New York developer.
    Amid mounting concerns about Donald Trump’s candidacy from the GOP establishment, Republican leaders in at least two states have found a way to make life a lot harder for him.

    The Virginia and North Carolina parties are in discussions about implementing a new requirement for candidates to qualify for their primary ballots: that they pledge to support the Republican presidential nominee – and not run as a third-party candidate – in the general election.

      Until the Democratic Party recognizes that it’s not about Bill Clinton ‘s legacy, it is about each PRESIDENTIAL successor adding to the party’s legacy, in their own unique way, they will be a failure.

      it is not BUT, but AND See how this works Hillary. Just admit that President Obama is succeeding as a Democratic President and state what you will bring to the table, and be done with it.

        Watching CNN today, it’s hard to figure out who’s president right now; Too many ex-presidents and first ladies looking for a re-do and out jostling for attention –

        There ought to be a consistent “former’ qualifier preceding all these, but all day it’s been the “President and First Lady” and “President” Bush and “First Lady” Laura Bush in New Orleans today, and “President” Clinton in New Orleans tomorrow.

        This coming from the same people for who it’s always “Michelle Obama”..

    As I mentioned before, I think people see Hillary as that harridan in the office wearing her 80s power suits, getting upset that Susie in the office isn’t staying until 11pm to work but going home early to attend Susie Ann’s cheer competition and Lil Biff’s baseball game. She would never have the MY CHILD’S AN HONOR STUDENT AT ______ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL on her minivan; in fact she WOULD NEVER HAVE a minivan. She’d be driving some slick foreign car.

    Sarah Palin was that incompetent trashy bimbo who winked & shimmies for every man in the office & got breaks & promotions she didn’t deserve because of it. She didn’t have to stay late, she could pass her work off to others. Men in the office love Sista Sarah; women not so much (unless they were part of her clique).

    Barack Obama is the black guy hired from outside of the company for a position the white people in the company thought they were going to get. He’s pleasant but he doesn’t socialize with most people because he knows they just want to find something on him to get him out of the company. The Sarah Palin clique questions how he can live in THAT neighborhood & afford THAT car and openly whine about affirmative action, and how it’s not fair blah blah blah.

    Donald Trump is the guy in the office who sends the FWD FWD FWD racist emails in the office but because he’s the boss’s son or nephew etc. he gets away with it. He doesn’t think a black guy should be in the position Obama’s in; he’s fine with Rayvon the security guard and Willie the janitor but Obama getting that job is TEW MUCH and he’s gonna let everybody know about it.

    Joe Biden is that jolly white guy in the office who jokes around the water cooler and nobody takes him seriously but he knows his job and YOUR job like the back of his hand. The Donald Trump & his clique doesn’t like the Joe because he won’t pass those FWD FWD FWD emails on to someone else; Harridan Hillary’s clique doesn’t like him because Obama’s moving on to another job & it will FINALLY be Harridan Hillary’s turn for the promotion but they know Jolly Joe will be a formidable competitor. But Jolly Joe gets along with everyone else in the office, whether they have professional differences with him or not.

      It wasn’t just that the President was drama -free. His entire Administration was drama-free. Only bullshyt we got was GOP invented non-scandals.

      This is why I’m not for Hillary. There was no reason she should have done the email server.If she had never planned on running for POTUS, fine. Colin Powell’s emails; Condi’s emails – nobody gave a shyt because after they left the White House/Administration, they were DONE.

      BUT, the Clintons continue to do things -out of arrogance – and that’s what it is – White People’s Arrogance- and expect others to get out there and defend them.

      I ain’t defending shyt. She should not have done it.

      It’s the WHITE part of Hillary that doesn’t get that the First Female President has to be BEYOND REPROACH.

      PERIOD.

      The First ANYTHING has to be.

      Barack and Michelle Obama understood that, and it’s been hard for us to watch at times, but it only deepened our respect for them.

      The campaign hasn’t even begun in earnest, and already Hillary et al are whining about sexism.

      I don’t have time for this foolishness.

        But it’s important to also stress that unlike Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice, The Obama administration did put in place strict e-mail policies.

        Very specific guidance was given to agencies that employees of the Obama administration should use their official email accounts when conducting official government business. Yet Hillary Clinton wasn’t just using personal email on occasion, but exclusively – and with a personal server installed at her home. A private server gives the operator control over their communications, and makes it difficult to subpoena electronic records.

        The government runs a separate email system for exchange of classified information, so classified information should never have been sent out on an outside server.

    Of all the transformations Hurricane Katrina left in its wake, the story of one child’s journey may be the most striking.

    We first met Arianna Evans as 9-year-old Charles in the days after the storm. Standing outside the New Orleans’ Superdome, Evans became the face of the tragedy when an NBC News cameraman captured the child eloquently making a plea to the world.

    “We just need some help out here,” the child said to the camera. “It is just so pitiful. Pitiful and shame…. We have over 3,000 people out here with no home, no shelter. What are they gonna do? What we gonna do? Take a look at all of this. Now what they gonna do if the hurricane come again?”

    The picture and words captivated the country in the days after the levees broke, and Evans became something of a celebrity, getting on stage at the 2005 Emmys and making a guest appearance on the TODAY show.

    I watched the first two shows. I like the lead and his girlfriend. The casting is iffy on the brother and sister-in-law. I did love Loretta Devine and David Alan Grier. There were some funny moments.

    NBC’s summer comedy series lineup continued last night (after “Mr. Robinson” ended its run last week) with “The Carmichael Show” which kicked off a 6-episode run at 9pm.

    “The Carmichael Show” is inspired by star Jerrod Carmichael’s relationships with his say-anything contrarian father, therapist-in training girlfriend, ever-hustling brother and mother, who is always, always, always right with Jesus.

    Amber West, Lil Rel Howery, David Alan Grier, and Loretta Devine co-star.

    Did you tune in?

    Apparently, many of you did, because, as NBC reports, “The Carmichael Show” drew 4.8 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET, making it the most-watched summer comedy series debut on any of the Big 4 networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC) since 2007, when “Creature Comforts” drew 6.1 million viewers for CBS – a span covering 12 summer-comedy launches.

    At an Iowa event a couple of weeks ago, a 9-year-old boy had a question for Donald Trump. “Mr. Trump?” he asked. “Are you Batman?”

    “I am Batman,” the Republican answered.

    Two weeks later, it seems we know he’s auditioning for the role of Robin.
    Call it a public display of political affection: Sen. Ted Cruz has invited Donald Trump to Washington next month for a rally against the Iran nuclear deal.

    The two Republican rivals are set to appear at an event organized by the Tea Party Patriots, the Center for Security Politics, and the Zionist Organization of America, according to the Cruz campaign.
    The event is tentatively set for September 9th, which should be shortly before Congress votes on legislation that would, if successful, derail the international nuclear agreement with Iran.

    By any modern standard, it’s quite unusual for rival candidates, running for the same party nomination at the same time, to team up like this, but in this case, neither Ted Cruz nor Donald Trump has much to lose. The far-right senator, who made the initial invitation to his ostensible foe, obviously wants to woo Trump supporters in the event the GOP frontrunner stumbles, and an event like this will help solidify Cruz’s broader goals.

    It’s also largely the opposite of the strategy Lindsey Graham and Rick Perry tried for a while – instead of making headlines by getting on Trump’s bad side, drawing his ire, Cruz will stay in the spotlight by effectively partnering with the New York developer.

    When Donald Trump’s security escorted the Univision anchor Jorge Ramos out of a news conference on Tuesday, I decided that I was officially done.

    Maybe I should have been long before that.

    Maybe I should have been done the one and only time I ever met Trump and his first words to me were a soliloquy about how black people loved him, and he was the most popular white man among black people.

    Maybe I should have been done when Trump demanded to see the president’s birth certificate.

    Maybe I should have been done any number of times over the years when Trump made any number of racist, sexist comments.

    The most damning part of Donald Trump’s political rise

    Remember when the 2016 field of Republican presidential candidates was supposed to be so deep and talented? Then why is a reality TV clown beating all of them?

    There’s only so many ways that I can say that Trump reminds me of nothing so much as that old man at the deli talking to nobody in particular about how the country is going to hell and how it was better in the “Mad Men” days when you could properly insult minorities and play grab-ass with the secretaries.

    So instead let’s turn this around and ask a question of the rest of the GOP field and the political media that has reported on them. For this entire calendar year, I’ve heard how the current crop of GOP presidential candidates “showcase[s] the party’s deep bench of talent” or that “the Republicans are sitting on the deepest bench they’ve had in decades” or how “a direct comparison with the last Republican primary, in 2012, reveals how strong this bunch of candidates is for the 2016 nomination.”…

    It’s late August, so obviously things will likely change by the time Iowa starts to caucus. But remember, the whole point of this deep GOP bench was supposed to be that it would thwart the absurdity of the 2012 cycle, when Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann were front-runners for a time. And yet in this cycle, it’s gotten to the point where William Kristol has morphed from praising the current crop of “strong candidates” to fretting that “the rest of the field isn’t what it should be” and encouraging Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito to enter the race.

    So here’s my question: What does it say about the deep GOP bench that none of them have managed to outperform a guy who has no comparative political advantage except celebrity and a willingness to insult anyone who crosses his path?

    WASHINGTON — In ways both subtle and blunt, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign is sending a message to Vice President Joe Biden about his potential presidential campaign: This won’t be easy.

    As Biden ponders a challenge to Clinton for the Democratic nomination, she has rolled out a string of high-profile endorsements in the early-voting contests of Iowa and South Carolina and scheduled an onslaught of fundraisers across the country in the effort to throw cold water on a possible Biden bid.

    Donors who have publicly expressed support for a Biden run have been contacted by the Clinton team, according to donors and Democratic strategists who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the private conversations. Even Clinton herself has made a few calls, they said, to express her disappointment.

    While Clinton and her team speak warmly of Biden in public, they have taken steps to show their dominance over the party’s establishment and President Barack Obama’s political infrastructure in hopes of quietly discouraging the vice president from entering the race.

    The effort comes as Clinton and the Democratic field of candidates prepare to address members of the Democratic National Committee on Friday during their summer meeting in Minneapolis. The night before her formal address, Clinton made her case in private briefings to attendees. Meanwhile, representatives from a super PAC backing Biden plan to woo delegates in his absence.
