Biden Team Calls Report on 2016 Leak ‘Categorically False’
by KRISTEN WELKER and PETER ALEXANDER

Vice President Joe Biden’s team is now pushing back on a POLITICO report that Biden himself, while eying a presidential bid, leaked an account of his dying son’s wish that he seek the Democratic nomination.

“The bottom line on the POLITICO story is that it is categorically false and the characterization is offensive,” said a spokesperson for Biden.

The vice president’s office is neither confirming nor denying that a conversation took place between Dowd and the vice president, but sources say that the paper is flatly wrong to suggest that Biden intended the leak to be a trial balloon for his candidacy.

The piece published Tuesday morning cited “multiple sources” confirming that Biden related the story of his son Beau’s deathbed plea in a conversation with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, who reported it in an August 1 column in the newspaper.

“Beau was losing his nouns and the right side of his face was partially paralyzed,” Dowd wrote. “But he had a mission: He tried to make his father promise to run, arguing that the White House should not revert to the Clintons and that the country would be better off with Biden values.”

POLITICO wrote Tuesday that Biden’s conversation with Dowd meant that the vice president “effectively placed an ad in The New York Times” inviting donors and potential political supporters to reach out to him.

      Lol..

They don’t even need high-priced political consultant Mark Penn for this – there are enough callous folk – including the questionable folk at Politico – who’ve been given Clinton cocktails and promised positions, access and ambassadorships, they’ll do just about anything to make sure Hillary wins..

Look at Howard Dean for instance…singing so hard for his Clinton supper – makes you wonder what exactly he’s been promised…At this rate this country won’t be able to afford the many new positions a potential Hillary presidency would need to create to accommodate all the many ‘supporters/surrogates’ accumulated solely courtesy of the pay to play promises she’s made them…

On another note, I’ve often wondered about some of these ‘Obama allies’ who are also ‘good friends’ of Maureen Dowd…

One wonders where they’ve been all these years as Ms Dowd has turned out her many anti-Obama hit pieces — Doesn’t a mutual good friend like say Caroline Kennedy call time-out on Dowd and say stop this..?

Good to know though that there is after all a team at the White House – even if it’s the V.P’s team – that actually pushes back on falsehoods that are designed to slander, hurt and discredit their boss… If only there were such a team all this time, pushing back hard on behalf of our FLOTUS – instead of being the sources of the hit pieces designed to hurt and diminish her..

Hillary Clinton Camp is responsible for the Biden hit job. No one can tell me differently. He is going to run and this is the modus operandi of the Clinton camp. Get dirty and why is this Eric Boehlert on Hillary’s team so damn hard.

DC and the pundits want Clinton as well as GOP whether they win or lose. Triangulation in the guise of bipartisan is the game. Koch would not mind them either. They are the Washington Insiders.

None of them want Biden especially the Post-OBAMA presidency biden. He is no longer on their team. Biden is smart to wait until real late in the game to enter.

Hillary’s team is now trying to muddy him up as quickly as possible.

I will not vote for Hillary in the primaries or general. It will be blank or write in. if she is the nominee and i will vote in my local. She is not to be trusted. I don’t like her or her husband.

GOP-led Montgomery County election board shifts early-voting sites
By Bill Turque and Joshua Hicks September 22 

The Republican majority on the Montgomery County Board of Elections, led by an appointee of Gov. Larry Hogan (R), voted Monday to shift two heavily used early-voting sites to less populous locations, prompting Democratic charges of voter suppression.

The board voted 3 to 2 to move early voting from the Marilyn Praisner Community Center in Burtonsville, which serves high-poverty East County communities along U.S. 29, to the Longwood Community Recreation Center in Brookeville, 13 miles to the northwest.

The panel also shifted early balloting from the Jane Lawton Community Recreation Center in Chevy Chase, about a half-mile from the Bethesda Metro station, to the Potomac Community Recreation Center, on Falls Road, 10 miles to the northwest.

Unlike on Election Day, when voters must go to their assigned precincts, early-voting sites are open to all voters in the county. More than 8,000 people cast early ballots at the Lawton and Praisner centers in the 2014 general election, more than 20 percent of Montgomery’s total.

    ………………..

“It’s outrageous,” said County Council member Tom Hucker (D-Silver Spring), who represents Burtonsville and much of East County. “It’s a naked attempt at voter suppression. . . . The intent of the law is that you put these sites at locations where they are going to be maximally effective, without regard to party.”

NYC Teacher Talks: “Nobody Wants To Teach Black Kids”

by Jennifer Preissel in News on Oct 5, 2015 2:40 pm

Last month, 240,000 students and their teachers returned to the corridors of New York City’s 500 public high schools. Gothamist sat down with teachers at different stages of their careers—some entering service, some with a few years under their belt, and a couple of vets. We talked about why they chose to teach, how they feel about the government’s education policy and their thoughts on the charter system and the United Federation of Teachers. We wanted to know: are the teachers all right?

We’ll run a different teacher profile each day this week. Our first subject, Shane, teaches physics, astronomy, business technology and computer science in Bushwick.

I’m going into my third year teaching. It feel like it’s my sixth. Every year you have a new principal, it’s like two lifetimes. My new principal seems really cool. Vibrant, straightforward. But again, starting the year with a change, it’s another challenge.

I’ve been getting job offers from other schools because they meet a black physics teacher and they are like, “Hello! Can you work here?” I say, “I already work somewhere.” If you’re math and science, you’re sought after and you can move from school to school, no problem. It’s a weird climate.

That idea of social justice brought me to teaching. Since I had a degree in the sciences, I had an edge. I knew I would be highly sought after, so why not enter a field where I can get job offers when I need them? No matter where I go in America I can get a job.

But I’ve never wanted to be a lifelong teacher. I never saw myself as a 35-year veteran teacher. I know how that happens, because as the kids come in, and the freshmen look at you, they say, “You’re going to leave? You’re not going to stay until we graduate?” You get caught up for years and years, and I can see that happening. But I never went into it to be a teacher for life. I want a higher degree, a doctoral degree in educational leadership. I’m looking into being a principal, administrator, superintendent. It’s about where going where the problems are.

I reflect a lot. There are a lot of students I have been able to work with and I hope, empower a little bit, as a role model. I really try to be on the student’s side. Which means sometimes I hear, “You’re mad lenient. I take advantage of you.” But I believe in youth empowerment. I don’t believe I have anything over kids in a classroom. And some students realize that.

It’s amusing to me that one of the arguments against Joe Biden running is “Well, he already ran 2 times before and lost.”

HELLO? Joe Biden is the SITTING VICE PRESIDENT. If Obama keels over today and dies, he becomes the POTUS. If people didn’t think Biden had the goods to be POTUS, they never would’ve voted for Obama/Biden back in 2008. That’s why people didn’t want to pull that lever, punch that chad or circle in that dot for McCain/Palin…if McCain keeled over they were not trying to have an uneducated hillbilly like Palin be the POTUS.

Mitt Romney ran 3 times and nobody said “Mitt Romney already tried it twice before, he needs to sit down.”

People amuse me. If you scared, say you scared.

These kids grow up so messed up and completely dysfunctional even as the world hails their fathers heroes…

These kids watch as their mothers are destroyed from years of pain and silence…and they too learn to play along until they can no longer, and their dysfunction manifests in all the worst ways..

Look at Robert Kennedy jr. who cheated and cheated and hurt his wife and mother of his kids so badly, she committed suicide by hanging herself (NO man is worth it by the way!) …Then he proceeds to go marry and ‘live happily ever after’ with actress Cheryl Hines —

National spotlight turns to Alabama voting rights controversy

THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW, 10/2/15, 10:37 PM ET
Racial pattern in Alabama DMV closings suggests dirty trick

Following on the segment from Friday’s show, the racially charged controversy regarding voting rights in Alabama is quickly becoming a story of national significance. Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Ala.), who represents many of the affected voters, wrote an op-ed in local media today making her case.
On September 30th, my Black Belt constituents were dealt yet another devastating blow when it was announced by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency that it would close 31 driver’s license offices.

The decision left 8 out of the 14 counties in my district without a DMV that will issue driver’s licenses. Many of the residents affected by this decision will have to travel miles outside of their communities to take a driver’s tests and obtain state-issued identification. This fact means many of my constituents who have limited modes of transportation will be denied an equal opportunity to obtain a means to vote.
MSNBC’s Zach Roth reported today that the Alabama congresswoman has “formally asked the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the state’s shuttering of driver’s license offices in several heavily black counties.”

New Bernie Sanders Polls Show He Could Win

He might actually stand a chance in a general election.

    By Jamelle Bouie

America’s most famous socialist might be more electable than he looks.

In the swing state of Iowa, according to the latest poll from NBC News and the Wall Street Journal, Bernie Sanders leads Donald Trump by 5 points and trails Jeb Bush by just 2 points. In purple New Hampshire, likewise, Sanders leads Trump by 10 points, and is tied against Bush. By contrast, both Trump and Bush lead Hillary Clinton—the presumptive Democratic nominee—in Iowa, and Bush stands ahead of Clinton in New Hampshire by 7 points.

This comes after a national Quinnipiac survey last month showed Sanders similarly competitive nationally with the most visible Republican presidential candidates: He tied Bush with 44 percent, led Trump by a margin of 47 percent to 42 percent, and barely trailed Carly Fiorina, 44 percent to 43 percent. In each instance, other than against Fiorina, Clinton performed worse. In other words, if Sanders had an electability gap with Hillary, he’s closed it.

Last Call For Taking It For Granite

    Posted by Zandar

    ……………….

I’ve got a good feeling about this race for the Dems about getting rid of nasty corporate Republicans like Ayotte

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Sen. Shelley Moore (R-WV) introduced the Student Loan Relief Act of 2015 on Thursday, which would let borrowers refinance their federal student loans in the private market. The senators argue that if their legislation passed, students would be able to benefit from lower interest rates.

Sounds great, right? Republicans like Ayotte are moderates who care about student loan and debt relief, see?

Although many large banks left the private student loan market after the financial crisis, plenty of politically connected organizations such as state agency lenders and nonprofits have fought to stay in the market. One example is Granite State Management, a New Hampshire nonprofit organization that does student loan servicing. GSM’s primary income is through its student loan servicing, but they would make much more through issuing loans. GSM’s status as a charitable organization was challenged by the City of Concord in 2013 but the court ultimately held up its status, saying that “servicing and administration of loans is not GSMR’s charitable purpose, but a means to achieve” the purpose of its mission to “providing low cost or alternative financial assistance to eligible students and to parents . . . and of supporting the development of higher education and educational opportunities.”

I bet you can see where this is going.

“What they’re trying to do is go back to the bad old days of a bank-based loan system. They want private banks to take over the loan and take none of the risk. So what they’re saying is, ‘Oh, it will be good for students because they will get a lower rate from the private market,’” said Ben Miller, senior director for postsecondary education at the Center for American Progress. “But really what’s going to happen is that the private market is going to get a giant windfall and pass along a tiny slice of it to the students in the form of a lower interest rate … You would hope to do a lot more by spending the exact same amount of money and just cutting their interest rates. There is no value add from the private market.”

That’s right, Ayotte’s student loan bill is really a way to get Wall Street back into the student loan business. Shocking, I know.

Can’t wait for Hassan to kick her ass.

Why The Kayak-Eating Bear Is The Blackest Thing I’ve Ever Seen This Week

    Damon Young, 10/5/15

By now, I’m sure many of you have seen the footage of a bear in Alaska using a woman’s kayak to floss his teeth, ignoring the woman’s hysterical pleas to leave the kayak alone. And, if you haven’t watched yet, please do

Unbeknownst to the woman recording this — and, likely, unbeknownst to the bear — this two minute and 30 second long clip is a perfect synopsis of the Black American’s experience in America.

    To wit…

    1. When the footage begins, the bear wasn’t in Brooklyn and he wasn’t standing in line at a Chick-A-Fil. Nope. He was just minding his own damn bear business in his natural habitat. You know who else was minding his own damn business in his natural habitat before some White person decided to bother him? Kunta Kinte, that’s who.

    2. And, just like Kunta Kinte, the bear was probably offended by the woman calling him out of his name. He’s a bear, sure, but I’m sure his name wasn’t “Bear.” He actually looks like his name would be “Maxwell.” But she didn’t even bother to take the time to learn his name. Because all bears look alike, apparently.

    3. For all we know, kayak meat could be to bears what ribs and collard greens were to Black people.

Dems on GOP’s Benghazi committee start to play hardball
    10/05/15 12:46 PM—UPDATED 10/05/15 01:54 PM

THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW, 9/30/15, 9:22 PM ET
Benghazi committee ‘is a joke’: Congressman Smith

It’s always interesting to see what happens when a charade ends. For quite a while, congressional Republicans tried to keep up appearances, pretending their Benghazi committee was a legitimate, non-partisan search for truth – a claim no one, anywhere, seriously believed – but House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) accidental candor last week ripped off the mask.

There was brief discussion about whether Democrats would simply quit the taxpayer-funded, anti-Clinton fishing expedition in protest, a move Dems ultimately rejected, but that doesn’t mean they plan to sit idly by. The Washington Post reported this morning:

Democrats are taking the unprecedented step of releasing excerpts from a closed-session interview the House Benghazi committee conducted last month with Hillary Clinton aide Cheryl Mills, accusing the panel’s Republican Chairman Trey Gowdy (S.C.) of selectively leaking information to damage Clinton in the presidential race.

In a letter sent Monday morning, Democrats on the panel released statements made by Mills from the Sept. 3 interview that paint Clinton in a favorable light. The letter charges Gowdy with failing to provide a fair account of Mills’s interview, alleging that he orchestrated small press leaks designed to produce negative stories about the Democratic presidential front-runner.

In a letter signed by all five Democratic members of the panel, the lawmakers told Gowdy, “It has become obvious that the only way to adequately correct the public record is to release the complete transcript of the Committee’s interview with Ms. Mills…. [W]e plan to begin the process of correcting the public record by releasing the transcript of Ms. Mills’ interview. Since you have indicated your unwillingness to do this in a bipartisan manner, we plan to do so ourselves.”

The daughter of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman has tied the knot with her boyfriend of less than a year, Max Parker, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The couple said “I do” last month during an intimate ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel in London, first reported by Woman’s Day magazine.

The 22-year old and the British I.T. consultant exchanged vows in front of a small group of close friends on Sept. 18.

Isabella and Parker wanted the romantic affair to be so low-key and private that they decided against inviting her A-list celebrity parents. Isabella’s younger brother, Connor, was also reportedly absent from the nuptials.

But there were no hard feelings between the parents and their daughter. In fact, Tom, 53, fully supports the relationship and paid for the wedding and party
