The Obamas Just Bought a House in California
In addition to that amazing D.C. mansion.

Back in May, we obsessed over the D.C. mansion where the Obamas will move after they leave the white house, and now it sounds like the family plans to be bicoastal. The New York Post reports that the President has purchased a second home in Rancho Mirage, just outside of Palm Springs.

There are a few obvious reasons for the choice. Obama loves golf, and there is tons of golf in Rancho Mirage. It’s also the home of Sunnylands a.k.a. the West Coast version of Camp David, meaning the family has probably spent tons of time near their new residence, and decided it was a good new place to settle down.

The Post also reports that the First Family is also buying a “holiday getaway” in Obama’s childhood home of Hawaii. We will be submitting roommate applications to all three residences.

And this visit was made only because his unofficial adviser, strategist, convener, spin-master, agenda pusher, and media wrangler, Joe Scarborough, as usual, used the morning show on MSNBC to convene relevant guests like former C.I.A directors to ask them how the buffoon should rectify his ill-advised running feud with the Intelligence community and the C.I.A in particular, and they all said that he must visit the C.I.A headquarters on his first day, praise them and tell them that he trusts them..and he did exactly that …except that he as usual bungled the execution …besides the fact that I’d like to believe that most C.I A agents who spend a lifetime studying, undermining and taking down a-holes like Scarborough and the buffoon, are not quite as stupid and easily manipulated or duped as Scarborough and the buffoon believe..

    • eliihass says:

Of course Rikyrah…that was so obvious..

Even when our POTUS and FLOTUS make their thank you rounds when they first arrived in D.C, and even as excited as the workers were at each of the government agencies they visited, the workers had to maintain a certain level of non-partisan decorum..

Besides, even if there are some republicans working in these agencies as is expected, these are mostly Democratic and Obama strongholds..

No way CIA agents were cheering like that for any politician, least of all, the buffoon..

It was embarrassing…but that is what you get when the preeminent white supremacist and fake news purveyor, and your vindictive, creepy undertaker son-in-law with serious daddy issues, are your top ‘strategists’..

Trump’s People Told A Bakery To Completely Re-Create Obama’s Inauguration Cake

The chef who made Obama’s cake called them out on Twitter last night.

This is the cake served at former President Obama’s Commander In Chief Ball on Jan. 21, 2013, after his second inauguration.

Charm City Cakes owner and chef Duff Goldman was commissioned to create it.
And this is the cake that was served at President Donald Trump’s Salute to Our Armed Services Inaugural Ball on Friday.

Goldman tweeted about the ~similarity~ Friday night, noting that he did not bake the cake that was served at Trump’s ball.

People were extremely confused and began to share the desserts online using the hashtag #CakeGate.

This is not the first time since his inauguration that Trump has borrowed something from Obama. For a short time yesterday, his new @POTUS Twitter account featured a banner photo from Obama’s 2013 inauguration.

Hillary Clinton Is Stoic at Her Rival’s Inauguration
    By AMY CHOZICKJAN. 20, 2017

WASHINGTON — This was not the inauguration Hillary Clinton thought she would be attending. Some Democrats, still bitter about her election night defeat, grumbled privately that she should have skipped Donald J. Trump’s swearing-in, as 60 House Democrats did on Friday. But a groundswell of supporters praised her fortitude.

On Friday morning, Mrs. Clinton wrote on Twitter: “I’m here today to honor our democracy & its enduring values. I will never stop believing in our country & its values.”

Asked how she’s doing, Mrs. Clinton has told friends that she is “surviving,” said several people who have spoken with her but would describe the content of the private conversations only on the condition of anonymity.

Mrs. Clinton has pointed to the decision by the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, to release a letter related to her private email server days before the election and to the Russian government’s cyberattacks on Democratic targets as the reasons for her defeat.

On Thursday, the Woman’s March on Washington, expected to draw roughly 200,000 women, put out a list of over two dozen honorees, including Shirley Chisholm, Gloria Steinem and Malala Yousafzai. One name not included: Hillary Clinton.

It really does feel like the end of the era, but we’ll see. I just don’t see Hillary coming back.

      • eliihass says:

        I don’t agree..

Bill Clinton is not going anywhere…he’s quietly surveying the current landscape and recalibrating..

This is a Leo man …with all of the attendant traits…the craving for attention, adulation, relevance and power..

He is not going to slip away into the night ..

He and Hillary also have long memories…and hold and nurse grudges…and are incredibly vindictive…

Whatever and however long it takes, they both will be settling scores for the foreseeable future..

      • Liza says:

        Interesting.

Their vindictiveness is legendary, to be sure.

They’re estimating 500,000 marching in DC alone.

    Damn, what a day.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz is standing behind Maxine Waters.

On the one hand, I believe that a supporter is a supporter.

On the other, I would hope that certain individuals could recognize their part in causing the debacle and excuse themselves from the stage at least.

    I’m conflicted.

    • I’m conflicted too, Liza. I can’t get over how Democrats caused this ISH.

      • Liza says:

        Hey, SG2.

Yeah, this one is on them. But we’re going to have to work together. This is a dire situation, dangerous and unpredictable. We can’t make any assumptions and there is no reason to hope that the worst case scenarios we imagine won’t come to be.

All we’ve got right now is protest.

    • eliihass says:

If only it were really all about principled action…speaking up, doing good and doing the right for and on behalf of the people they were elected to represent – and the powerless, voiceless and downtrodden –

But it’s a lot of self-serving posturing – and self-interestedly positioning themselves for the next political grift..

For some of them, it additionally serves as a revenge thing…a public lash-out against the (admittedly) buffoonish creature who messed up all their well-laid personal and political plans…cost them the promises Hill and Bill made them…and don’t forget the endless shrimps and cocktails at future White House events that’s gone now…

But slick folks like Cory Booker have that covered too…he gets to bloviate about certain ‘Democratic principles’, all while playing footsie with his pals Jared Kushner and his wife and other dubious types in the buffoon’s inner circle..
While other newly minted D.C establishment-manufactured slick types are busy hiring top dollar ‘image consultants’, making careful political calculations and doing the 2-step and tip-toeing around the most important issues, all while looking to leech on to President Obama, by preemptively pretending to give a damn…and signing up on his known pet causes like climate change, that they assume will give them unfettered access to him post-presidency …access that will also find them frequently yucking it up with him under the guise of ‘shared concern’ in the same climate change conferences and round tables around the world in the future…

In the end, none of it has much to do with you or me or the folks they represent..

Even if it’s all transparently mediocre and obvious, in the end it’s really all self-interested, self-serving, self-promoting, power-obsessed, pocket-lining political calculation…

But for the moment, if it yields any fruit that helps folks, we’ll take it…

But I still don’t have any use for most of these folks…and I’m still not going to support or vote for many of them…ever..

  6. Liza says:

“I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest — quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.

Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.”

    Martin Luther King, Jr., 1963
