Thursday Open Thread |Show Them How It’s Done, Madam Speaker

As we enter day 34 of this government shutdown, the Dolt45 in the White House, is having a tantrum about the State of the Union.

Speaker Pelosi sent him a letter last week or so, informing him, that since the government is shut down, and because there has never been a State of the Union Address while the government is shut down, that he should reconsider having a formal address until the government is up and running again.

Madam Speaker put it in nice terms, but these aren’t people that you can deal with in nice terms.

So, since they didn’t get the first hint, she has now told him that, no, you will not be giving the State of the Union in the Chamber of the House of Representatives.

Dolt45 tweeted a few days ago that ‘a contract is a contract’.
Um, no. It’s not a contract.

Then, he had the nerve to put out that he was going to send people over to ‘look over the Chambers in preparation’. And, Nancy Smash had to say, ‘no…nobody is coming over here to review anything.’

Then yesterday, Nancy Smash sent out a letter, making it plain as day…
You can mail your State of the Union address…You can post it in tweets…You can give it from the Oval Office…but, you won’t do it from the floor of the House of Representatives.

The House is Nancy’s House. She’s in charge, and if you don’t get the formal invitation from BOTH houses, you can’t come. Period.

I am tickled pink by this.

And, the MSM can go somewhere and sit down. Could care less about them clutching their pearls.
No. You will not give the State of the Union in the HOUSE – until the government is open.

PERIOD.
He’s so not used to anyone that he can’t bully or runover…and, especially, if it’s a woman. He doesn’t know what to do.

He’s getting EXACTLY the level of respect that he deserves —–NONE.

Lock those doors, Nancy Smash. Lock the doors. Turn off the lights. He can’t come into the chambers unless invited.

And, he is NOT invited.
Nancy Smash has the right idea.
So many, not just Republicans, but the MSM, as so used to Democrats, who really care about people, caving and compromising. They just don’t understand. This has snapped the last nerve of Democrats. Plus, we realize that this is about our actual democracy.

That’s right. Call the workers what they are – HOSTAGES.
And, we can’t go on like this. This must stop. He must be made to understand that things changed in November 2018, and no, the Democrats WILL NOT be lapdogs for him as the GOP were the previous two years.

    Solis secretly recorded fellow Ald. Burke to help feds in criminal investigation

    Retiring Ald. Danny Solis (25th), the powerful chairman of the City Council’s Zoning Committee, has secretly recorded more than a dozen conversations with Ald. Ed Burke (14th) over the last two years, including at City Hall, to help federal investigators build their corruption case against him, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.

    Those conversations include Burke meeting with individuals seeking actions by the city, a source familiar with the matter said.

    Federal investigators have focused on Burke allegedly using his influence as chairman of the City Council’s Finance Committee to drum up property tax appeal business for his private law firm.

    Some of the meetings Solis recorded using an electronic listening device took place at the suite of offices reserved for the Finance Committee chairman on the third floor of City Hall.

    That’s the same suite that federal investigators raided Nov. 29, covering the glass doors with brown butcher paper to conceal the search inside.

    Other meetings allegedly took place at Burke’s ward office, the source said. The FBI searched that office the same day as the City Hall raid.
