Saw this tweet this past weekend.
I’ve asked my 3rd year illustration students at @sva to come up with a post-pandemic New Yorker magazine cover. Here is what they sent in:

All of the covers were good, but one was haunting:

The patriarch is in blue. He is mourning his wife, who didn’t make it through. The rest of the family is able to visit him because they all have been vaccinated- see the Band-Aids.
So much Power in a picture 😢😢😢

Audree Hall from Lake County had to make the hard choice to go without health insurance to afford her mortgage when she was laid off during #COVID19. But because of my bill in the American Rescue Plan, Audree was able to sign up for an affordable plan. Biden isn’t brash, he isn’t boastful. He simply is delivering. As @StevenBeschloss relates: “the number of COVID deaths in the US has dropped from 4,380 people on the day Biden took office to about 700 people a day now.” THAT is a tribute to Biden and an indictment of Trump. https://twitter.com/glennkirschner2/status/1387013795181211650?s=20

I’m sorry but I can’t let it go. I won’t. I’m not in the throwaway business when it comes to Black girls and #makhiabryant doesn’t deserve to have her life thrown away because she decided to pick up a knife. That should not be a death sentence. And f*ck you for arguing it should. https://twitter.com/GrooveSDC/status/1386905279707688960?s=20

If corps want to stave off a populist rebellion, they should consider some self-imposed constraints including significant limits on CEO pay in years of layoffs and economic losses; a permanent cutoff of contributions to anti-democracy politicians, etc.
