Open Thread | Goodbye to the Pearsons

This week was the last episode of This Is Us.

I came to This Is Us over halfway through the first season. I had read on the internet how each week it would bring you to tears, but people loved it. I binged all the episodes that I had missed in one weekend. And, I was hooked. I admit that the characters who brought me in were Randall and Beth Pearson, played by Sterling K. Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson. Had never seen a Black couple that were so relatable and real. I loved them, and their children.

Randall and Beth drew me in, but, the rest of the show was top knotch. The love story of Jack and Rebecca was wonderful. I had known Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore from other projects, and never thought that I would take them as seriously as I did.

This Is Us was well written, well-acted, and most of all, well-casted. The casting director of the show nailed every person. It was amazing…the younger actors, the older actors….they were so on the money. The casting was flawless.

One of my all-time favorite scenes in This Is Us was when Randall and Beth were having serious difficulties, and Deja tricked Randall into driving her to a previous foster family’s house. She told Randall a story about her life there. Bottom line for Deja- Randall better recognize that he had won the life lottery not once, but TWICE,i.e. his adoption by Jack & Rebecca, and finding Beth. Deja told him that she didn’t know what was going on between him and Beth, and she didn’t care. All she knew was that Randall needed to fix things…. And then, she told him she was hungry😂

    Team Deja all the way👏🏾
