sniff sniff sniff😪😪😪
I never thought that I would live to see the day where a Black from a distance woman with locs and a deliberately chosen African name would sit on the Supreme Court.
It’s still surreal to me.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
As I said the day she was confirmed: You’d be hard-pressed to find someone better qualified for the job. Congratulations, Justice Jackson. pic.twitter.com/HVDVPB74ZZ

My heart is full.
They called her everything but a child of God in those hearings and now they must call her Madam Justice!
Congratulations Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson! #KetanjiBrownJackson

It took 232 years, but we're about to witness history.
At noon today, Ketanji Brown Jackson will be the first Black woman sworn in as a #SCOTUS Justice.
It was an honor to testify on her behalf, and it will be a privilege to see her on the bench.https://t.co/cWTj3BgHcH

Kyrsten Sinema Kills Filibuster Plan After Pledge to Work on Abortion
BY NICK MORDOWANEC ON 6/30/22 AT 2:21 PM EDT
Democrats seeking to preserve abortion rights following last week’s Supreme Court overturn of Roe v. Wade may face an even more uphill battle as Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema has reportedly nixed the idea of reforming the filibuster.
President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that he supported the idea of changing the Senate filibuster for the purpose of codifying Roe v. Wade. The partisan split in the Senate makes a 60-vote threshold practically impossible for Democrats to do so.
“I believe we have to codify Roe v. Wade into law. And the way to do that is to make sure Congress votes to do that,” Biden said during a press conference at the NATO summit in Madrid. “And if the filibuster gets in the way, it’s like voting rights, it should be—we provide an exception for this, should require an exception to the filibuster for this action, to deal with the Supreme Court decision.”
CNN’s Ana Cabrera tweeted on Thursday that Sinema’s office said the senator “is still opposed to gutting the filibuster on any topic including on reproductive rights.”
Kyrsten Sinema is clearly part of the growing anti-democratic movement in this country and she hides behind the filibuster and “bipartisanship”.
If and when Mitch gets the Senate back he’s going to get rid of the filibuster knowing full well neither party will have 60 senators anytime soon.
Sinema is a traitor and an enemy of democracy.
The Democratic leadership needs to own this colossal mistake and stop trying to normalize her.
Biden Admits He Can’t End Filibuster After Manchin, Sinema Oppose Measure
BY ZOE STROZEWSKI ON 7/1/22 AT 3:32 PM EDT
The day after President Joe Biden signaled support for an exception to the Senate’s filibuster rule in order to codify abortion rights into federal law, he conceded that Democrats don’t have enough votes in the Senate to do so.
During a virtual meeting with governors on Friday, Biden stressed that Congress will “ultimately” have to act to protect abortion rights after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last week.
“The filibuster should not stand in the way of us being able to do that, but right now we don’t have the votes in the Senate to change the filibuster,” Biden said, according to The Hill. “That means we need two more votes.”
Two Democratic senators, Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin, have said they oppose ending the filibuster. Without Republican backing in the evenly divided Senate, the Democrats would need all of their senators’ support in a vote ending the filibuster. For now, the two lawmakers are blocking the possibility of changing the rule
Biden in meeting with governors indicates the new strategy is, assuming Dems can pick up 2 Senate seats this year, to go around Sens Manchin and Sinema next year & carve our filibuster exception over their objection
