Open Thread | Congratulations to the New Governor of Maryland, Wes Moore

Maryland was always an interesting case study to me. It seemed as if statewide office was always going to be out of reach for Black candidates. A number of them fell short. It seemed to be insurmountable…until it wasn’t.

Congratulations to the new Governor of Maryland, Wes Moore. Only Black Governor in the United States.

May he serve the people of Maryland well.👏🏾👏🏾

I highlight what @VP Harris is doing in part because I realized during the primaries and it’s been reinforced during the past two years, that a lot of white liberal Democrats only highlight what white politicians do.

I think a lot more young Black men need to join the military even if it’s for two years. They’ll be alright.

Update on the friend in the hospital.
He has a brain tumor. He’s had it for years. The doctor, when they first found it, told him,
” if it doesn’t bother you, don’t bother it”.
And, that was ok advice, but, it’s bothering him now, after 6 years.

He sent me the info on the doctor that will be doing the surgery. From all of the research, this guy is really the best in the city for this surgery.

    I appreciate continued prayers

Patriarchy doesn’t prepare boys for partnership. It teaches them that women are “property” you can penetrate, property that otherwise has little worth without an owner.

.@Target raised its minimum wage for all employees to $24/hr & all who work as little as 24hrs/wk gets health insurance. Target will prove: 1. The labor problem isn’t people are lazy, it’s that they aren’t paid enough. 2. More ppl will shop at a store that treats employees right.

I don’t know why I am always shocked that there are almost double the percentage of Gen X of color than Boomers of color.

Reading a project by a person on my team. From a kid to graduating college, when I saw 66% of Gen Xers were white, I could feel it in my life.

My husband has just purchased two more properties on the street he grew up on in Birmingham, AL. Bringing his total to four. He’s literally buying the block piece by piece and making affordable housing. I really love this and can’t wait to see them be built.

So Nazi symbols were projected on buildings in Jax and West Palm Beach for extended periods of time this past weekend.

We all know why this is happening now. We all know why these people feel comfortable operating in Florida. But no one says anything.

    The silence is deafening.
