From The Hill:

Biden administration announces $39 billion in student debt relief for 804,000 borrowers
BY JARED GANS – 07/14/23 8:55 AM ET

The Biden administration has announced that it will provide $39 billion in total student debt relief for 804,000 borrowers, its latest step since President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan was struck down by the Supreme Court.

The Education Department said on Friday that the relief is being provided on income-driven repayment plans, in which the federal government cancels remaining balances for the borrower after they have made their payments for 20 or 25 years.

The department said the “fixes” will more accurately count monthly payments that qualify under the plans, and it will notify borrowers who are eligible for the relief in the upcoming days.

I hope that if you get someone complaining about student loan forgiveness, that folks will bring up the complete transformation of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

Created in 2007, before the Biden Administration, there were a total of 7,000 people who had their loans forgiven.

7,000

7,000

Biden went in, and ordered a revamping of the rules, and cleaning up of the program to make it more accessible to those that have done the requirements.

Now?

OVER SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND APPLICANTS have seen their loans forgiven.

600,000 since Biden became President.

Don’t tell me that good government isn’t possible.

    No. Obama had to contend with 400 years of racism with EVERYTHING HE DID. And yet he was/is able to clear a path that Joe could not do on his own. What we now have is a near perfect symbiosis that is able to surmount all obstacles, open any door, speak and understand all language.

    @surrealnth:
    Yup & if they’re not careful, this obvious attempt to diminish Obama just to elevate Biden, is exactly how Dems lose in 2024. This crazy spin has the potential to not only create such animus & division among Dems, but alienates tons of die-hard Obama voters that Biden will need.

    @UncleScottiepoo:
    I’d argue that Biden would not know how to deal with modern GOP nonsense had he not experienced what they put Obama through firsthand. I’d also argue that there is a not insignificant number of elected officials who are more comfortable with the president being an old white man.

    Title: The Black Mage

    Synopsis:
    When St. Ivory Academy, a historically white wizarding school, opens its doors to its first-ever black student, everyone believes that the wizarding community is finally taking its first crucial steps toward inclusivity. Or is it? When Tom Token, the beneficiary of the school’s “Magical Minority Initiative,” begins uncovering weird clues and receiving creepy texts on his phone, he and his friend, Lindsay, stumble into a conspiracy that dates all the way back to the American Civil War, and could cost Tom his very soul.
