Have to keep you updated on what’s going on in Red State America that I know they want to export elsewhere around the country.

From Jessica Valenti:

In the States
Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs signed legislation today that will repeal the state’s 1864 abortion ban. It was just yesterday that the state Senate voted to reverse the 160-year-old law, crafted in a time before women had the right to vote. At a ceremony today, Gov. Hobbs said she would “do everything in my power to protect our reproductive freedoms, because I trust women to make the decisions that are best for them.”

This means that Arizona’s 15-week abortion ban will go back into effect—at least until November, when voters could restore abortion rights by supporting a pro-choice ballot measure.

As Florida’s 6 week abortion ban goes into effect:

Florida Agency Releases Dangerous Abortion ‘Rules’
Guidelines mandate abortion reports, tell doctors how to end pregnancies
JESSICA VALENTI
MAY 02, 2024
With Florida’s 6-week abortion ban now in effect, a state agency has issued guidelines for doctors that they say will ensure women get the care they need. In truth, the rules are a political move that will further endanger women’s health and lives.

Guidelines from Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) not only require doctors to send the state detailed abortion reports, a tactic Abortion, Every Day has been raising the alarm about, but also dictate how doctors should end pregnancies. The guideline’s language could even force physicians to give women c-sections rather than abortions—another nightmare tactic that AED has been tracking.

Consider one of the most common post-Roe horror stories we’ve seen: women who were denied treatment after their water broke too early for the fetus to survive. (Also called preterm premature rupture of membranes, or PPROM.) In a section about how doctors should treat patients with PPROM, the agency does not tell doctors that they can give women abortions. Instead, they say the patient should “be admitted for observation.”

Florida’s new ban is important because Florida was a state where women in the South could go . Now, those women have to travel to North Carolina or Virginia.

The increased numbers for those states:
Abortion providers in states like North Carolina are bracing for an onslaught of patients who otherwise would have traveled to Florida for care. The same is true for clinics in Virginia; HuffPost reports that Virginia League for Planned Parenthood has increased staff and hours, and ramped up tele-health services. In 2022, only 3% of the group’s patients were from out of state. As of April, that number jumped to 20%, and as of this week, more than 30% of patients making abortion appointments were from other states.

In case you missed it, Donald Trump did an interview with Time where he had no problems with the states criminally charging women or MONITORING THEIR PREGNANCIES.

And, it’s not just about abortion. I don’t know how many times we have to tell you that the GOP is coming for IVF and Birth control. They always were.

VIDEO: Youngkin won’t add legal protection for birth control access

Access to birth control remains vulnerable to potential future attacks after Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin effectively blocked a bill that would have made access to contraception a legal right in Virginia.

The fight to protect reproductive freedom continues as advocates gear up to fight for a constitutional amendment in Virginia that would guarantee the right to an abortion. Video: Jessica Craven

So, how do those folks feel about Governor Sweater Vest…he was always a right-winger.

NEW: James Carlson, one of the primary agitators in the recent Columbia’s riots, turns out to be a millionaire’s heir with a long history of violent protests.

A lawyer and self-styled anarchist, Carlson is the son of late ad mogul Dick Tarlow.

Despite his privileged background, he boasts a rap sheet dating back to 2005, with numerous charges including assault on a police officer.

Living in a lavish $3.4 million Brooklyn brownstone property, Carlson has been a fixture in anti-capitalist movements across the country.

His latest escapade at Columbia involved breaking into the university, barricading doors, and causing substantial property damage, resulting in charges of burglary, reckless endangerment, and more.

Moreover, Carlson faces a hate crime charge for an incident in April, where he allegedly set an Israel supporter’s flag on fire and assaulted the individual with a rock.

This is only the latest in a string of protests he has led, which include disruptive actions at major New York City traffic arteries earlier this year.

Carlson’s stepmother, currently linked romantically to singer John Cougar Mellencamp, shares ownership of a $15 million mansion on Fifth Avenue.

His father, who passed away in 2022 leaving a $20 million estate, was a significant figure in advertising, associated with big names like Revlon and Ralph Lauren.

Carlson (40), was arrested early Wednesday for his role in the violent takeover at Hamilton Hall.

    LMAO.

The sensitive and “shaken” students say they’re so upset by police in riot gear that they can’t take finals.

“The violence we witnessed last night has irrevocably shaken many of us on the Review,” the editors of the Columbia Law Review wrote.

“We know this to be the same for a majority of our classmates.”

“Videos have circulated of police clad in riot gear mocking and brutalizing our students. The events of last night left us, and many of our peers, unable to focus and highly emotional during this tumultuous time.”

“We believe that canceling exams would be a proportionate response to the level of distress our peers have been feeling.”

If the GOP Can’t Keep Voters from Putting Abortion on the Ballot, They Will Try To Trick Voters. They Will Cheat.
The “Decline to Sign” movement is gaining traction in GOP-dominated states
    JESS PIPER

    MAY 6

    ………………………….

The event to raise money for local Crawford County candidates was held inside an auction house right off the highway. It was a BBQ supper, with a silent auction, and a Bluegrass band. The event also had petitions at the ready for several amendments, including the abortion petition.

As I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed a minivan and a woman stopping each person going down the drive. She was standing next to her van, while a man sat in the driver’s seat. She had what looked like paper tickets in her hand — I assumed she was checking in guests for the event. As I stopped, she smiled and asked if I wanted information on the petition to put abortion on the ballot in Arkansas?

I returned her smile and said, “sure.” She handed me a piece of cardstock with a QR code. I was really excited to scan it, because I thought Arkansas may have a way to electronically sign the petition, and I could share it with my Arkansas friends…

    Oof. I was way off.

When I scanned the code, it took me straight to a Google drive. I was hesitant immediately. The first folder in the drive is titled, “Arkansas Abortion Amendment Myth vs. Fact” and that was pretty much a dead giveaway; the lady stopping folks headed to an event intent on signing the abortion petition was going to hit them with disinformation first.

Another folder in the Google drive was something called “Decline to Sign.” This graphic included bulleted points. Among them:

    …………………………………………

Was the woman standing in that parking lot just some solitary extremist trying to dissuade voters from signing a petition? Some woman who got a crazy idea, created a Google drive, printed up cardstock with a QR code, and decided to lie to folks on their way to sign a petition in a small town in Arkansas?

No. “Decline to Sign” is a coordinated movement and we saw it in Missouri as well. It is well-funded and not at all grassroots. They have signs, sites, and lawmakers who are bought and paid for to do their dirty work.

I noticed “Decline to Sign” popping up on social media from Missouri GOP State Senators and Representatives. The messaging was exactly the same. Some Reps even started tweeting out videos of themselves, sitting on the same couch in front of the same bookcase, reading a script about “out of state” folks coming to Missouri to gather signatures and steal identities or allow abortions up to birth. It was creepy because it was so scripted and the deliveries were so automated. The politicians also had those dead eyes you need to straight up lie to someone.
