But it did. It literally HURT to see this.
A building built by slaves.
A building burnt in the War of 1812.
A building that has meant THE SYMBOL of the United States since it was built.

The destruction of the Rose Garden was one thing.
This is something entirely different.

This picture evoked a visceral reaction of disgust from me.

The Treasury Department is next door, overlooking the White House,… giving employees a front row seat to Trump’s demolition of the East Wing.

Employees have been ORDERED by the Trump admin NOT TO POST PICS OF THE DEMOLITION. So it would be a shame if you retweet this for them: https://t.co/bxMzld4LHD

WHERE ARE THE PERMITS ALLOWING THIS DESTRUCTION?

FROM THE NYT:

President Trump’s plan to add an expansive ballroom to the White House will mean the demolition of the entire East Wing, which was expected to be fully torn down by this weekend, according to a senior administration official. Mr. Trump had pledged that the East Wing would not be touched by the construction, one of the largest renovations to the building in decades even before the change in plans.

Three problems with the destruction of the East Wing of the White House:

    1. Dubious legality.

    2. High likelihood of corruption in funding.

    3. Grotesque deformation of an American house, built in an harmonious and republican ethos, soon to be bloated by an emiratic carbuncle.

Exclusive with @CarolLeonnig: The federal prosecutor in charge of investigating whether Sen. Adam Schiff should be charged with mortgage fraud recently told her bosses in Washington she did not think the case was strong enough to move forward, two sources familiar with the matter told MSNBC.

A third person familiar with the matter said the case is continuing to be investigated.

Kelly Hayes, the U.S. Attorney in Maryland, met in recent days with Todd Blanche, the deputy Attorney General, to update him on the Schiff case, the three people said.
Hayes, an experienced federal prosecutor, told Blanche she did not think the case against Schiff was strong, two people said. The two said Ed Martin, a controversial senior Justice Department official, is pressing to keep the case alive.

All but 2 Universities Decline a Trump Offer of Preferential Funding – The New York Times

One of the two, Vanderbilt University, signaled it had reservations.

Seven of the nine universities that the White House initially approached about a plan to steer more federal money toward schools aligned with President Trump’s priorities have refused to endorse the proposal.

On Monday evening, an eighth signaled that it had reservations about it.

Only one, the University of Texas, suggested it might be open to signing on quickly.

The University of Arizona rejected the Trump administration’s compact on Monday, joining Brown University, Dartmouth College, M.I.T., the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Southern California and the University of Virginia.

Meriwhether says: “Dear Trump, we love you and support you, but your suggestion to buy beef from Argentina to stabilize beef prices would be an absolute betrayal to the American cattle rancher.”

I mean, what are you doing, people? Like, you realize he’s destroying you. He hates you. Like, do you get that? He absolutely hates you and thinks you’re dumb and stupid. Isn’t it wild that they’re literally tearing down the East Wing of the White House — and no one’s even asking where the First Lady or her staff are supposed to work now?

Everyone knows she’s a First Lady in name only and adds nothing of value. It’s honestly just sad.
