More of the evil

@donwinslow
Don Winslow
@donwinslow
CNN witnessed 25 migrant children, some as young as 3, in a Texas immigration court on Monday, many without attorneys amid the Trump administration’s push to speed up deportations of unaccompanied minors rescued by Border Patrol. The judge denied asylum to Angel, whose family lives in the U.S. and who feared danger back home, then issued a removal order with an appeal deadline at month’s end. Court sketches captured the children’s distress, like a boy with his head in his hands, fueling online divides: supporters praised ending child trafficking, while critics decried the emotional toll and lack of representation.

I believe the truth will all come out. But, the pure evil being done in the name of the United States of America, with regards to all the evil happening with these deportations..cannot be quantified.

    We currently see no signs from Russia that it wants to end the war. We see no basic steps toward de-escalation. Everyone is talking about diesel and forgetting about grain. In a month or two, everyone will start talking about an agricultural crisis. There won’t be enough food for countries across Africa, some Asian countries, and the Middle East, because we export millions of tons of grain to these very markets. And now Russia is blocking the sea. The United States isn’t feeling the effects of this, which is why the focus is only on energy. This is another challenge. It’s hunger. And it can affect many countries. And we need to think about everything and everyone, because we all live on this planet. We can prevent many different crises before they even begin and avert the challenges they bring. From remarks at the Warsaw Security Forum. (2)

    • The Husky@Mr_Husky1Nine years of working night shifts in hospice care taught me something I’ll never forget: People nearing the end of their lives rarely ask for the things you’d expect. Sometimes, they don’t ask for God. They don’t ask for miracles. Sometimes, they ask for something so small it breaks your heart. Room 4 belonged to an 86-year-old man named Walter. He had lung cancer. His wife, Dorothy, had died in 2019, and he hadn’t had a single visitor in eleven days. One night, around 2 a.m., he waved me over.
    • “Are you married?” he asked. “No,” I told him. He nodded slowly. “Then you probably don’t wear perfume.” I smiled and told him I had some in my locker. “What kind?” “Nothing fancy. Just something cheap from the drugstore.” He shook his head. “Dorothy wore White Shoulders. Every night before bed. Not for church. For bed.” He chuckled, but the laughter quickly turned into a coughing fit.
    • When he finally caught his breath, he looked at the ceiling and said something I still think about. “I used to tell her she was wasting it on me. She’d say, ‘The good stuff isn’t for God. It’s for whoever has to look at you in the morning.’” Then he smiled. Not the polite smile people give strangers. The kind that belongs to someone remembering the best years of his life. I finished my shift at seven that morning, but I couldn’t stop thinking about Dorothy. So I drove to three different pharmacies until I finally found a bottle of White Shoulders. It was tucked on the bottom shelf, behind the nail polish remover. $18.99. That evening, on my night off, I went back to the hospice. Walter was asleep. I didn’t wake him. I sprayed a little perfume on the inside of his pillowcase, then sprayed a washcloth and gently folded it across his chest. I sat beside him for a while. He never opened his eyes. But slowly, almost painfully slowly, his hand rose from the blanket. He reached for the washcloth and rested his palm flat against it. Then he held it there. His breathing softened. His face relaxed.
    • For the first time in days, the tension seemed to leave his body. I’ve watched many people die over the years. Nurses learn to recognize the moments when someone stops struggling against what is coming. That night, I watched Walter settle into a memory that was bigger than the room he was lying in. Maybe he was remembering Dorothy getting ready for bed. Maybe he was remembering the way she smelled when she climbed beside him. Maybe, for a few precious minutes, he wasn’t an 86-year-old man dying alone. Maybe he was simply a husband lying next to his wife again. Walter passed away on Thursday morning. Nobody came to collect his belongings. His room was cleaned, his bed was remade, and eventually another patient moved in. The world kept going, as it always does. But I never forgot him. People think hospice care is about managing pain, administering medication, and making someone comfortable during their final days. And yes, it is. But sometimes, comfort isn’t a medication. Sometimes, it’s a familiar song. A voice you haven’t heard in years. A hand holding yours when the room goes quiet. Or the smell of the person you loved most in the world. We spend our entire lives building what we call home. We fill it with furniture, photographs, clothes, and all the ordinary things we barely notice until they’re gone. But when everything else is stripped away, home can become something incredibly small. A familiar scent. A remembered touch. A voice saying your name. Sometimes, home is the person you keep expecting to find beside you when you wake up. And sometimes, when you can’t bring that person back, the kindest thing another human being can do is help you remember them one last time. I’ve worked nine years of night shifts in hospice care.
    • If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: At the end of life, people don’t always need someone to save them. Sometimes, they just need someone to remind them that they were loved.12:20 AM · Oct 12, 2026·

    • Crazy Vibes@CrazyVibes_1Being a single woman over 40 with no parental safety net means knowing that your emergency fund isn’t just money in the bank. It’s your security, your independence, and sometimes the only thing standing between you and a crisis. There’s no one to call when the car breaks down, no parents to help when an unexpected bill arrives, and no guaranteed safety net if you lose your job or get sick. Every emergency is yours to handle. Every decision carries weight. And every dollar you save represents a little more peace of mind in a world where you know you have to be your own backup plan. People with family they can fall back on don’t always understand the mental load of knowing that if everything falls apart, you’re the one who has to put the pieces back together. It’s exhausting having to be strong, responsible, and financially prepared for every possible worst-case scenario. So here’s to the women building their own safety nets, saving what they can, figuring things out as they go, and quietly carrying responsibilities nobody else sees. Shoutout to every woman who has had to become her own safety net, her own rescue plan, and her own hero. You deserve more than just survival. You deserve to feel safe, too. ❤️10:25 AM · Oct 11, 2026·65.5KViews

The American people don’t get the fact that the economy is great. And so when they have to pay all they have to pay at the grocery store and at the gas station, they just don’t get it. 3. He says he made one up in his post. Which means the patient that was looked up was NOT Talarico but a random patient status. 3) At least one of his audio files is flagged as “AI edited” by AI detectors. 4) Lying about your identity to access health records is a crime, both federally and in multiple states. 5) Even if you know a patient code, patient statuses are not given out to unidentified callers. 6) No where will tell you if a patient has been discharged. 7) If they did tell you, they would not need to say “within the last 24-48 hours” there records are exact, and giving a general timeline is no less illegal than an exact time. So either it’s: A) All fake, and libellous. Or B) You committed fraud in pursuit of health records, found nothing and then also lied about it. It’s honestly sad and as discrediting as can be. • Save East Po@SaveEastPoThe 4-hour hearing over the Trump Admin’s disgusting behavior at East Potomac Park this weekend just ended. One word to describe the hearing: incredulous. Reyes was livid over the Trump Admins deceitful behavior. And the idea that there is further deceit going on was palpable. Our read of the hearing was that it focused on two key elements. The first was the timeline of the Cultural Landscape Review (CLR) cuttings and the second was tying the CLR to the broader planned Washington National Plan (WNP).
    • Timeline: the judge demanded to know who knew what and when. Could not believe that a project of this scale was completed over the course of ~5 days (October 5-October 10). And the scale is breathtaking – all the way up to the acting Director of the National Park Service, Jessica Bowron. CLR with the WNP: anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that these two are connected.
    • To pretend that a project that has sat on the shelf for 7 years just came into play is unbelievable. The key thing was tying the CLR to the WNP. And turns out that Frank Lands, the Deputy Director for Operations at the U.S. National Park Service, was given an express directive by Greg Wischer, the Deputy Chief of Staff at DOI, to use the CLR to begin tree removal at East Potomac “as soon as possible.” Wischer reports to Burgum at DOI. Just unbelievable, illegal, fraudulent behavior from all these despicable characters involved. I will say it again, when this admin wonders what their legacy will be and why everyone hates them, it will be because of underhand and nefarious dealing like this. So now everyone knows. Trump is a Russian asset. The USA was infiltrated with social media propaganda to create division within America. Carney saw the social propaganda sneaking into Alberta and put two and two together with all the crypto activity. He gave Zelensky the backup to bomb the data centers after Trumps last ditch attempt to save the midterms with a Russian oil stunt. All the while social platforms profited from algorithms tuned to narrative tension and programmatic ad sales.

There was less hate, less division, fewer provocations because there were fewer bots. It’s pretty clear where those bots were coming from. If they disappeared when Yandex went offline, this proves once again that Europe is not the source of the problems.” The big problem is that Russia figured out how modern society consumes information a decade ago, but the West hasn’t. There are millions of bots commenting and posting Russian propaganda. There are paid influencers spreading it, with Russian bots supporting their content. There is a gigantic machine operating to radicalize and influence Western societies, and there is not enough defense in place. It doesn’t just influence elections, it sows discord, engulfs societies in culture wars, radicalizes teenagers, and shapes political decisions when elected officials fail to read the room. That needs to change.
