The same thing is happening on my campus and I truly don’t understand it. Black undergrads having cookouts, potlucks, beach days etc while one of the biggest student movements in 40 years is taking place. Nowhere to be found. It’s perplexing and incredibly disappointing.

Many Black older folks trying to tell these young people….you can’t do what your White classmates do. You don’t have the safety net that they have. You didn’t when you were growing up. You don’t now.
And, I want to make it clear. If you have been upset by the law enforcement’s response to these young people on campus, think about how that response would have been if it had been Black students, front and center.
