Palin Supports Dr. Laura Via Twitter
    ‘don’t retreat … reload!’

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/18/sarah-palin-supports-dr-laura_n_687148.html

Sarah Palin is offering words of encouragement to Dr. Laura Schlessinger through her Twitter account.

Dr. Laura, as she’s known on her radio program, has come under fire in the past week for using the N-word eleven times while on the air with a caller to her show. She quickly apologized and then announced that she would end the program once her contract expires later this year.

Palin, once the governor of Alaska and Republican nominee for vice president in 2008, has used social media to push her messages in recent months. Her latest offering comes out in support of Dr. Laura. Her first of two tweets on Wednesday night read:

    Dr.Laura:don’t retreat…reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence”isn’t American,not fair”)

Palin’s an uneducated, empty head, nothing in the skull but empty fluid, hate monger!

Secret Service Connects Sarah Palin to Death Threat Increase Against President Obama

    http://rollingout.com/insiderohome/ro-today/10576-secret-service-connect-sarah-palin-to-death-threats-increase-against-obama.html

In this so-called post-racial America, we have seen the number of death threats made against the sitting president, Barack Obama, increase exponentially. This has made the job of protecting the commander in chief even more difficult. The threats are coming from both fanatics and the so-called respected participants on the right of America’s political discourse. In most cases the language is vehemently inflammatory, untrue and flat-out ridiculous.

The United States Secret Service has just released information that shows a strong correlation between a rise in potential and actual death threats against the president and remarks made by Sarah Palin, John McCain’s former vice presidential running mate.

Palin’s attacks on President Obama, including specific comments regarding his patriotism, led to an increase in threats against Obama during the last weeks of his presidential campaign, when Palin accused him of “palling around with terrorists.”

The report, which was released by Stratfor Global Intelligence, an independent, non-ideological intelligence organization, said that Palin’s dissentious and incendiary tone may have unwittingly emboldened white supremacists and other hate groups to plan attacks on Obama prior to his election. In fact, many on the 2008 campaign trail have asserted that her speeches often were replete with supporters yelling “kill” Obama as well as calling him a “terrorist.” This is one reason that John McCain mandated that Palin reduce the contentiousness of her remarks regarding Obama.

The main conclusion of the Stratfor report was that, “Two plots to assassinate Obama were broken up during the campaign season, and several more remain under investigation. We would expect federal authorities to uncover many more plots to attack the president that have been hatched by white supremacist ideologues.”

9/11 family member Ted Olson breaks from the GOP on NYC mosque: Obama ‘was right about this.’

This afternoon, Ted Olson — whose wife died in the September 11th attacks — distanced himself from other conservatives and told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that he did not oppose the building of a mosque near ground zero. “It may not make me popular with some people, but I think probably the President was right about this,” he began:

OLSON: I do believe that people of all religions have a right to build edifices or structures, places of religious worship or study where the community allows them to do it under zoning laws and that sort of thing. And that we don’t want to turn an act of hate against us by extremists into an act of intolerance for people of religious faith. And I don’t think it should be a political issue. It shouldn’t be a Republican or Democrat issue either. I believe Governor Christie from New Jersey said it as well, that this should not be in that political partisan marketplace.

President Obama wraps up a three-day, five-state tour, which is intended to raise money for Democratic candidates and to meet with families and organizations that have benefited from the economic Recovery Act.

He began the day answering questions on a number of topics during a backyard gathering in Columbus, Ohio. Residents of the community asked about the future of social security, the housing market and health care. He then spoke at a fundraiser for Ohio Governor Ted Strickland (D), who is up for re-election.

Ending his day, Pres. Obama travels to Miami for a fundraising event for Florida democratic and gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink.

The Real Story of Pat Tillman
    by Lloyd Grove

As a new documentary about the NFL player turned Afghan war hero opens, Lloyd Grove talks to Jane Fonda and others about his unvarnished legacy.
“I’m Pat Tillman! I’m Pat fucking Tillman! Why are you shooting at me?”
With those livid last words, pro-football star and Army Ranger Patrick Daniel Tillman Jr.—who gave up a multimillion-dollar contract with the Arizona Cardinals to serve his country and become the most famous enlisted man in Afghanistan—died in a fusillade of friendly fire on a rocky hillside near the Pakistani border. The bullets, coming at him from 40 yards away at a rate of 950 rounds per minute, were from a machine gun wielded by a member of his own platoon.

‘No regrets’ on mosque issue, Obama says
President weighs in as poll of N.Y. state shows strong opposition

NEW YORK — With the controversy still swirling over plans for a mosque near the former World Trade Center, President Obama said Wednesday that he had “no regrets” about his involvement in the debate.

Answering a reporter’s question at a political event in Columbus, Ohio, the president initially paused, then turned to a TV camera and said, “The answer is — no regrets.”

Weeks after breaking new linguistic ground by using the term “refudiate,” Sarah Palin has done it again.
