Even though 3Chics Politico is written and curated by three women: Ametia, Rikyrah, and SouthernGirl2, I must nominate this as one of the most engaging blogs I've found. Devoted to politics and culture, these three shine a light on contemporary life with humor and spirit.
College Affordability under the Republican Plan
See the Impact
For the first time ever, Americans owe more debt on student loans than on credit cards. If Congress doesn’t act by July 1st, more than 7 million students who rely on federal student loans will see their interest rates double from 3.4% to 6.8%. President Obama is calling on Congress to keep interest rates low, and save these students an average of almost $1,000 over the life of that loan.

MORE GOP[ SUPPORT FOR STUDENT LOANS RIGHT HERE:
Congress doesn’t act soon, more than 7.4 million students will see the interest rates on their subsidized Stafford loans double from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent on July 1.
KEEPING STUDENT INTEREST RATES LOW
Taking out Stafford Loans to help pay for college? You could owe an extra $1,000 unless Congress takes action soon.
Right now, interest rates on new subsidized loans will double on July 1 and more than 7 million students around the country will rack up an average of $1,000 of extra debt each.
But Congress has the power to stop that from happening.
Unfortunately, so far, Republicans in Congress have voted to let those rates go ahead and double in order to pay for tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.
President Obama knows that’s not acceptable. Today, higher education isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity that every American family should be able to afford. But it’s also getting more and more expensive. For the first time ever, Americans owe more in student loans than in credit card debt.
