Miami teen Israel Hernandez died after being chased by police & shot in the chest with a taser for scribbling graffiti on an abandoned McDonald’s wall. A kid tased to death for writing graffiti? And the officers laughed their ass off while the child was in distress. WTFF?!! So writing graffiti is now a death sentence? Miami Police need to be held accountable for this ish. And they didn’t even mention the tasing in their initial report. Stop the open season killing and brutalizing of our young black and brown boys!
(The Guardian.com) A police officer involved in the fatal tasering of a Florida teenager has reportedly been placed on administrative leave, pending the result of an internal investigation. Jorge Mercado was one of several officers involved in the arrest of Israel Hernandez, an 18-year-old graffiti artist. Hernandez died after being hit with a taser in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The cause of death has yet to be determined. Anonymous law enforcement sources told the Miami Herald that Mercado, a 13-year veteran of Miami Beach police, was put on paid leave on Thursday. Mercado was identified in reports as the officer who fired the taser at Hernandez, striking him in the chest. Miami Beach police did not immediately respond to the Guardian’s requests for information, but the department’s operating procedure guidelines state that an officer involved in a “deadly force incident, that results in great bodily harm or death shall be relieved of duty for a minimum of 72 hours”.
Miami Police are out of control with their history of using excessive, or lethal force.
Raymond Herisse was shot and killed by police during a hip-hop festival in Miami Beach in 2011. Police officers fired 116 shots at Raymond Herisse’s vehicle and injured four innocent bystanders.
A 14-year-old was reportedly choked by Miami-Dade police and charged with a felony count of resisting arrest with violence and disorderly conduct, all for giving police “dehumanizing stares,” clenching his fists and appearing threatening.
