    Just saw the movie “SELMA.”

      one word:

      FERGUSON 2014

      • yahtzeebutterfly says:

I can see scary parallels = suppression & oppression.

I hope to see “SELMA” soon.

I am so moved by the “Glory” song. It must be very emotional when it plays in the movie. yes?

      • Ametia says:

        Yes, suppression & oppression.

        Selma was well done, yahtzee.
I loved the juxtaposition of ACTUAL black & white footage, just to remind folks these horrid events did happen, and are continuing today.

      • yahtzeebutterfly says:

Yes, the black and white news footage must have really brought that home, Ametia.

People’s lives were on the line then, but freedom was everything to the activists. Their courage and sacrifices sometimes get glossed over today, and too often I forget the horror that those activists and freedom fighters faced EACH TIME they took part in an action.

I so admire and respect them for all that they did!

    • Ametia says:

that nontroversy about LBJ’s depiction, PURE BULLSHIT!

Anybody wanting to know the real honest to goodness truth about these events, should look no further than Representative John Lewis.

He was there, BOOTS ON THE GROUND.

Now that (some) film makers are in a position to tell unrevised stories from American history, I would think that the Black experience in America is fertile ground for some excellent films for many years to come.

So much of our revised history, or at least what many people perceive to be history, has its source in our films and television programs. It’s time to change that.

Dartmouth Charges 64 Students With Cheating in Ethics Class
    By Jessica Roy

Dozens of Dartmouth students were charged with violating the school’s honor code after they were caught cheating in an ethics class, reports the AP. The class, a sports ethics course targeted at student athletes struggling with academics, apparently did not leave a lasting impression on the 64 students the university has punished for cheating.

The widespread cheating scandal involved “clickers,” digital devices registered to specific students that are used to answer multiple-choice questions or chronicle attendance with a professor. Some students brought in their friends’ clickers to class and answered questions for them on tests, a clear no-no in any class, but especially in one focused on ethics.

The Roaring Obama Recovery: From Bottom Falling Out to Full Employment
    Spandan Chakrabarti January 9, 2015

With the December jobs report, it became clear that 2014 was the best year for America’s employment growth since 1999. In December alone, employment numbers exceeded analyst expectations by adding 252,000 jobs as the unemployment rate fell to a fresh low of 5.6%. Further, the New York Times reports that November’s jobs numbers were revised up to 353,000. Compared to a year ago, every measure of joblessness has fallen – from the traditional unemployment rate (U-3) to those who are available for full time work but are forced to work part time.

      ‘BALLS ON THESE CLOWNS’

    • Liza says:

Yeah, Republican obstructionism has done wonders for this nation. These stupid-ass people have taken permanent residence in an alternate universe.

    • Liza says:

And while I’m thinking about this, does anyone think the Democrats will have the balls and the skill to take over this conversation and give credit to the their own president? Naw, they’ll just run Hillary in 2016 because they are so sure she can win. They think that all Democrats worship the Clintons and will turn out in droves to vote for her. Another alternate universe.

BOTH political parties are so behind the times that it is frightening.

      • Ametia says:

“And while I’m thinking about this, does anyone think the Democrats will have the balls and the skill to take over this conversation and give credit to the their own president?”

Doubt it, Liza. PBO wrote the 21st century winning playbook on how to run an on the ground, high tech campaign, win it, and preside.

But nope folks are STUCK ON STUPID Dems are worse than the Teabaggers. They too want to TAKE “THEIR” COUNTRY BACK—WARDS

      • Liza says:

That’s a fact, that PBO’s campaigns understood how to use technology and mathematics to win on the ground. For the rest of them, it’s running smear campaigns like we saw so much of in 2014. For the GOP it’s smear campaigns plus voter suppression. That’s what we’ve got to look forward to with all the fossils that have so far expressed interest in running in 2016.
