*** I hope those good ol’ boys in Ferguson don’t really believe that they can force a few folk to resign or fire them and this will all blow over. ***

    • Liza says:

This is exactly the kind of crook who needs to hear a cell door slamming after he walks in. Until that happens, until some of these crooks do some time, it is going to be very close to impossible to get places like Ferguson on the right track. These folks have been doing this for so long and getting away with it that, for them, it’s just business as usual.

  3. Where are the arrest warrants for the officials in Ferguson for racketeering & extortion?

Happy job hunting, Ms. Twit. What are your job skills other than goofing off on the job at the taxpayer’s expense and sending racist email “jokes” to your racist friends?

The city of Ferguson needs to stay in the spotlight, until it has been thoroughly fumigated, and all the leadership who committed these heinous criminal acts of extortion and blatant RACISM are GONE.

Media on Ferguson & AG Holder’s DOJ report?

It’s all about Harrison Ford and him crashing his private plane or Hillary’s e-mails.

    • Liza says:

The 21st century has totally bypassed Ferguson. Hell, the 1980s and 1990s bypassed Ferguson. But Ferguson is just the start because so much corruption has been packed into a relatively small area. This sh!t is everywhere in this country, not just the Confederacy.

      • Ametia says:

This is the reason why the MSM is skimming over that DOJ report.

It’s a POWDER KEG and calls for reform in EVERY POLICE DEPT. IN AMERICA, where the cops are on a black folks killing spree!

  19. Ferguson’s Conspiracy Against Black Citizens

    Ferguson's Conspiracy Against Black Citizens

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the killing of Michael Brown, many black residents of Ferguson, Missouri, immediately thought that he was the victim of a wrongful death at the hands of police officer Darren Wilson, who shot him after a scuffle.

This week, the Department of Justice concluded that there is no evidence to disprove Officer Wilson’s claim that he feared for his life during the encounter. And the federal agency also presented context that explains why so many black residents assumed foul play and took to the streets in protest: For years, Ferguson’s police force has meted out brutality, violated civil rights, and helped Ferguson officials to leech off the black community as shamelessly as would mafia bosses.

So far, a disproportionate amount of press attention has focused on racist emails circulated by Ferguson officials, causing two to be fired and one to be placed on leave. While the correspondence in question is deeply offensive and worthy of condemnation, it is nowhere close to the most objectionable transgression documented in the DOJ report, which ought to prompt multiple Ferguson officials to resign in disgrace and provoke condemnations from across the political spectrum. Nearly every page shocks the conscience.

Ferguson officials repeatedly behaved as if their priority is not improving public safety or protecting the rights of residents, but maximizing the revenue that flows into city coffers, sometimes going so far as to anticipate decreasing sales tax revenues and urging the police force to make up for the shortfall by ticketing more people. Often, those tickets for minor offenses then turned into arrest warrants.

Police officers were judged not only on the number of stops they made, but on the number of citations they issued. “Officers routinely conduct stops that have little relation to public safety and a questionable basis in law,” the report states. “Issuing three or four charges in one stop is not uncommon. Officers sometimes write six, eight, or, in at least one instance, fourteen citations for a single encounter.” Some officers compete to see who can issue the most citations in a single stop.

In one email, the police chief, who also oversees the municipal court, brags to the city manager about how much revenue it is generating. Ignoring that conflict of interest is a recipe for a justice system that bleeds the powerless of their meager resources.

  20. Where is your Senator, Missouri? The silence concerning the FergusonReport is deafening!@clairecmc

    • eliihass says:

They see imaginary guns everywhere –
To be so evil, so racist and so hate-filled that even innocent black children trigger baseless paranoiac reactions from supposedly well-trained tax-payer funded officers of the law in the supposedly most advanced and civilized country in the world.

    • Ametia says:

WTF Our children are NOT seen as humans at all. A fucking hair pick is seen as a gun, not the child, just the pick. These white folks only see the color black & guns and it set them off?

  21. rikyrah says:

    Joy Reid ✔ @JoyAnnReid

DOJ: w/ the focus on revenue, many FPD officers view Black residents not as citizens to be protected, but as offenders & potential $ sources

    • rikyrah says:

      Joy Reid ✔ @JoyAnnReid

And how can a police force, having for so long been the city’s race-based revenue extractor, suddenly become the community’s protectors?

      • rikyrah says:

        Joy Reid ✔ @JoyAnnReid

Think question: what is the appropriate remedy for a community that has been exploited as a crass source of revenue extracted by police?

      • rikyrah says:

        Joy Reid ✔ @JoyAnnReid

In short, the city of Ferguson has viewed it’s black residents not as citizens, but as sources of income.

    • rikyrah says:

      Joy Reid ✔ @JoyAnnReid

The DOJ report damns not just the Ferguson PD, but the city itself, for its relentless focus on “revenue generation” via law enforcement.

@Kennymack1971 And another reason why voting matters. Can you imagine Pres Romney’s imaginary AG lifting a single finger to investigate?

    • eliihass says:

And these comrades of Darren Wilson are the same folks the Mayor wants to use to restore confidence and heal rifts in Ferguson? Yeah.

    • Ametia says:

Haven’t read the article yet, but “abandoning entire approach to policing” is NOT the answer. It’s not the approach so much as it is the HATE & RACIST MINDED POLICE and their ACTIONS.

  24. eliihass says:

    OT, but important:

“So this isn’t just about our troops and veterans. In fact, every year, roughly one in five adults -– or more than 40 million Americans -– experience a diagnosable mental health condition like depression or anxiety. And young people are affected at similar rates. These conditions touch folks of every age, every background. They’re our kids, our grandparents, our friends, neighbors, co-workers, and yes, our veterans.

And this shouldn’t be surprising to any of us because, let’s face it, life can be stressful. Folks are faced with all kinds of challenges. They are stretched thin at work. Their paychecks don’t stretch far enough. Millions struggle every day just to get by. Then you add social, biological, and genetic factors on top of all that, and sometimes it’s just too much.

So the fact is that many people in this country are fighting to put one foot in front of the other just to make it through the day. And often they don’t ask for help because they’re worried about how it will look.

So there should be absolutely no stigma around mental health. None. Zero. I mean, just imagine if we treated breast cancer the way we treat mental health. Imagine if, instead of admiring cancer patients for their courage as they fight this disease, we feared them or were embarrassed by them. Imagine if we told folks with heart disease that they should just buck up and get it together. (Laughter.) Imagine if we made these folks feel that taking cholesterol medication or having surgery was something to be ashamed of. Imagine how many people wouldn’t be alive today if we took that approach.”

  25. Ametia says:

If we think reading this ceaspool of filth and hate makes us ill, just think about the folks in Ferguson who have endured these criminal, hateful acts.

  26. Ferguson Mayor Responds to DOJ Report: We’ve Hired Some Black People, Did Diversity Training

    Mayor Responds to DOJ Report

Hours after the Department of Justice released a report condemning their police department’s discriminatory practices, the mayor of Ferguson, Mo., gave a press conference in which he announced that the city had punished three officers responsible for sending racist emails and hired more African-Americans, while glossing over the lack of systemic oversight, leading to the environment mentioned in the report.

The report, released after months of investigation into the Ferguson PD’s conduct after the death of African-American teenager Michael Brown, found that the police’s revenue-driven discriminatory practices, including their recurrent targeting of black people for seemingly minor infractions and their frequent racist emails, drove a wedge of distrust and hostility between the police and the community. (The DOJ simultaneously released the results of their investigation of Officer Darren Wilson and cleared the civil rights charges against him.)

In the conference, Ferguson mayor James Knowles said that they had fully cooperated with the DOJ’s investigation, and, as a result, had placed the three officers responsible for the racist emails on leave. “This type of behavior will not be tolerated by the FPD and the city of Ferguson,” Knowles said, adding that one officer had been fired; the fates of the other two are unknown.

Knowles also touted their new African-American hires in the police force and their corrections system, the FPD’s completion of “diversity training,” a civilian task force oversight board, and a new youth outreach program intended to engage the community.

He also referenced the report’s findings that the discriminatory behavior — particularly the fact that African-Americans were frequently and heavily fined for seemingly small offenses, such as not paying parking tickets — stemmed from the city pushing the police department to increase revenue. Knowles cited some of the city’s prior efforts to reform the municipal court system, such as capping the municipal court revenues at 15% of the city’s budget, and creating a separate docket for people who had trouble paying fines. “In addition, there is no longer a specific offense for failing to appear,” he also said, adding that prior charges under that offense would now be dropped.

    • Ametia says:

Aw HELL NO! The same system with the same people are doing the hiring.

      • eliihass says:

        “..We’ve hired some black people..”
And that just about sums up the papering over these folks think is all they need to do to take the attention off a deep and destructive mindset and culture that’s not only destroying black lives, but continues to ensure that black people remain 2nd class citizens and muzzled, or risk being shot death in cold blood and blamed for it.

  27. Ametia says:

The DOJ couldn’t bring an indictment against Darren Wilson, but they definitely laid the SEWAGE of the Ferguson & St. Louis County RACISM, TERRORISM, & DOWNRIGHT CRIMINAL ACTIONS & TACTICS.

TEAR DOWN THAT MUTHAFUCKING FPD & bring in all new race-sensitivity trained POLICE!!!!!

  28. Ametia says:

The ENTIRE Ferguson POLICE DEPT needs to be DISMANTLED.

  29. Disband both Ferguson and St Louis County police departments and start new to build trust.

    • eliihass says:

Agreed. And while we’re at it, do the same for so many Police and Sheriff departments across the nation notorious for their deep racism.

  30. This is too much. So disturbing. It was domestic terrorism in Ferguson. Mofos need to go to jail.
