Even though 3Chics Politico is written and curated by three women: Ametia, Rikyrah, and SouthernGirl2, I must nominate this as one of the most engaging blogs I've found. Devoted to politics and culture, these three shine a light on contemporary life with humor and spirit.

My oldest boy is friends with an older white guy. The older guy’s wife had a massive stroke last week and passed away. Well the lady had on a huge diamond necklace and it has come up missing. Ain’t that a damn shame? Vultures preying on people even in death. Someone removed the necklace, where the fuck is it? I’d like to smack whoever stole it into oblivion. It was on her neck before she left home and now missing. Someone from the ambulance service, life flight or hospital knows what happen to that diamond.
That’s a sad story. She probably wanted to pass down her jewelry to a daughter or other relative or friend. Preying on the dead is despicable.

California sues Trump administration over plan to end DACA
California on Monday sued the Trump administration, challenging as unconstitutional the president’s plan to rescind a program to protect young immigrants brought to the country illegally from deportation.
The lawsuit comes a week after 15 other states, led by New York and Washington, filed a similar legal challenge.
California Atty. Gen. Xavier Becerra said Monday he decided to file a separate suit because the state and its economy will be especially harmed by the president’s action because it is home to a quarter of the 800,000 people in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program.
…
Becerra’s lawsuit says the DACA program approved by former President Obama is legal and that its repeal violates due process rights and will hurt the state’s economy.
…
The lawsuit is joined by Maine, Minnesota and Maryland and argues in part that the repeal “may lead to the untenable outcome that the [Trump] Administration will renege on the promise it made to Dreamers and their employers that information they gave to the government for their participation in the program will not be used to deport them or prosecute their employers.”

This hate crime needs more national media attention. The horror of it all needs to be addressed!

I agree, Yahtzee. This is a horrific hate crime that might have ended in the child’s death. This is attempted murder. And the little boy is only eight years old.
Where is Eliihass, yall? Is she alright?
I’ve been wondering that too.
Eliihass, we’re worried about you. Check in with us. Please be alright.

Trump Inc: Inside the president’s not-so-blind trust
Trump’s run for president likely started,as a marketing pitch. The problem is, he won
Michael Tanglis
Seven days after Donald Trump announced his intention to seek the highest office in the land, he formed more business entities than he had on any previous day, available information indicates. All the entities were related to Trump projects in Indonesia.
A few months later, Trump was joined on the campaign trail by a delegation of Indonesian politicians — who openly acknowledged they were there because of Trump’s investments in their country. One had previously been caught on tape soliciting a $4 billion bribe.
In total, Trump has formed at least 49 business entities since he
announced his bid for the presidency. He continued to form businesses not only after winning in November, but also after assuming the presidency in January.
A detailed examination of Trump’s financial disclosure forms, as well as Delaware and New York business filings, shows that Trump’s run for president likely began as more of a marketing pitch than a genuine attempt to become the leader of the free world. The problem is, he won. And it doesn’t appear his priorities have changed. He did virtually nothing to separate himself from his businesses. In 2016,Trump owned a direct stake in more than 380 business entities — and held an indirect stake in many more. After becoming president, he transferred those direct ownership stakes to six different entities, mostly Delaware holding companies. But the transfer of ownership was meaningless; a revocable trust that was created to benefit him — and that he can assume control of at any time — sits at the center of it all.

I’m sorry, but I absolutely Do. Not. Believe. That real American Democrats are leading the attacks on Hillary. Never, in my 50+ years 1/?
9:26 AM – 10 Sep 2017
2. active in American politics, have I seen a party stridently attack
their own candidate, not even one who had lost fair and square,
3. (which Hillary provably did not do) for writing a book after the
election. I don’t know who is leading this process, but I feel confident
4. that whoever it is has money to make if Democrats fail to recover and become a governing majority. I will grant you that
5. a mind-boggling percentage of Americans don’t have a clue how our Federal Government works or why we have one, but simple ignorance
6. isn’t enough to explain the vitriol, the intensity, or the efficiency
of the attacks on Hillary, or on any other Democratic rising star,
7. especially a female one.
Politicians write books and give speeches. They always have, or at least for all of my 70 years.
8. This outpouring of hatred and rage is absolutely unprecedented. THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. Nor an accident. Not this many people woke up
9. one morning and said, The greatest outrage in my life today is that Hillary Clinton wrote a semi-tell-all political book.
Bullshit. Not.
10. Fake Democrats, fake Progressives, and real suckers have joined together to take down the candidate who got the most votes.
12. Yes, I believe that real not-Republicans, by whatever title they
choose to call themselves, are gullible enough to fall for this shit,
13. follow this shit, and perpetuate this shit, but I feel absolutely
certain that somewhere at the top, in Russia, or in an office run by
14. somebody named Koch, or Mercer, or Karl Rove, or one of their ilk, there is a think group writing, spreading, observing the success of,
15. all this anti-Hillary, anti-Kamala, and broad spectrum anti-Democratic propaganda.
It’s too good. It’s too effective. The timing is
16. too perfect, and the coverage is too total, for it to be an accident. I choose to not refute the claims on a case-by-case basis, partly

California should lead.

RECEIPTS
Good morning, y’all.
Tropical storm Irma is hammering away at my hometown, Jacksonville, but Florida didn’t do as badly as expected. When Irma turned eastward before hitting Tampa that part of Florida, the southwestern coast, was spared the 12 – 15 ft storm surge that would have been devastating. The Florida keys, of course, are the most damaged but it looks like Miami-Dade county got hit really bad too.
Weather.com has these 403 pictures, the most recent first and mostly from Cuba. The pictures from Havana (the most recent) are absolutely brutal.
Hurricane Irma Photos Show Destruction in the Caribbean, Florida’s Evacuation

Liza,
I spent pretty much all yesterday watching Irma coverage.
Climate change is a hoax?
Tell that to Miami, whose downtown looked like an American version of Venice.
Florida was also spared because of the hit that Cuba took. Those pictures of Havana broke my heart.
Irma was no joke. A huge swath of the Caribbean will take a long time to recover, if they ever do.
As it is with everything else, it is the poorest people who lose the most every time this happens.
