When Black Lives Matter came up, I felt the way the same way that I feel when I look at the Parkland Students:
They are who we have been waiting for. We have been waiting for those to come and pick up the torch. To show us the way, and we were supposed to assist them.
I know that I wasn’t the only ones who felt this way. I read how the Elders from the Civil Rights Era reached out to the young people of Black Lives Matter. How they wanted to give them guidance on what to do. Where they thought they went wrong. How they could help them build a sustainable infrastructure. That there wasn’t anyone in Ferguson or anywhere else, that didn’t have a public job, and couldn’t be fired if we got out and voted and voted in people who would make decisions positive for the community.
What they were told:
” This isn’t our grandparent’s movement.”
” We like being decentralized.”
” This talk about politics and voting is respectability politics.”
So, it was amusing to watch so many of the ‘ woke’ come for the Parkland kids. The kids who stepped up, and decided to organize by setting up a 501 (c)-3 group to raise money.
So, while they these tools to build an infrastructure, the BLM folks are talking about GoFundMe’s. And, because there was no formal infrastructure, who were people to come to and ask if things were legitimate.
They set themselves up to be played. And, played they were.
From The Root:
The Biggest ‘Black Lives Matter’ Page on Facebook Is a Fake: Report
Monique Judge
Yesterday 10:58pmAs Facebook continues to be mired in controversy over the way its user data has been used by outside companies and how its platform has repeatedly been infiltrated by Russian troll farms, a new report indicates that the social network’s largest Black Lives Matter page was not affiliated with BLM at all—and was, in fact, a fake.
Doing its own investigation, CNN found that the page—titled simply “Black Lives Matter”—was a scam with ties to a middle-aged white man in Australia.
The page had almost 700,000 followers on Facebook, which is more than twice the number of followers indicated on the official Black Lives Matter page. In addition, the page was tied to online fundraising campaigns purported to be raising money for Black Lives Matter causes in the United States. Those fundraisers brought in at least $100,000, and CNN reports that at least some of that money was transferred to Australian bank accounts.
So, after setting themselves up to be scammed, was there introspection by the BLM crowd, that maybe they should be doing things differently?
That maybe it’s time to try a new model?
The answer, unfortunately, is no.
No, rethinking that maybe they need to humble themselves and see that they blew the golden opportunity that they were given during 44’s Administration. And, because they blew it, they would have to do grassroots work to rebuild in a different way.
I hope that sooner, rather than later, they understand.
There are many of us out here rooting for them to get it.

Oh, poor Michael Wolff
“Fire and Fury” author Michael Wolff has cast himself as a Beltway outsider, a man who showed up at the White House determined to portray President Trump free of the norms set by the Washington establishment. Strange that such a renegade would care so much about how Beltway types view him.
In an essay/extended whine in the Hollywood Reporter, Wolff writes:
One recent evening, I heard CNN’s Jake Tapper taking aim at my perceived deviations from journalistic form, saying that if the Trump White House was not going to uphold standards, then “we” had to. Who, I wondered, was “we”? That is, what did I have in common, other than the subject of Trump, with Jake Tapper? Tapper is a television news personality who works for a top-down organization ever self-conscious about its complex agendas. I’m a writer who works entirely on my own.
So little appreciation from Wolff for CNN, whose nonstop coverage of “Fire and Fury” in early January turned the book into a national obsession.

Nunes threatens to impeach Trump-appointed FBI director
04/11/18 10:40 AM
By Steve Benen
It’s been a few weeks since House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) made head-shaking news, so I guess we were due for a report like this one from Business Insider.
Apparently the California Republican, an unnervingly close ally of the Trump White House, wants the Justice Department to give him copies of unredacted documents used to launch the investigation into the Russia scandal.
At issue are materials that document George Papadopoulos’ revelation that Russia had acquired damaging information on Hillary Clinton. The Justice Department and the FBI, perhaps skeptical of the increasingly ridiculous House Intelligence Committee, has been reluctant to play along with Nunes’ plan to undermine their investigation.
But that resistance has only infuriated Nunes, who insisted last night on Fox News, “We’re at a boiling point where we need this.” Asked if he’s willing to impeach the director of the FBI, the congressman added, “Absolutely.”

Trump ‘believes’ he can fire Mueller (and he’s taken steps to do so)
04/11/18 08:00 AM—UPDATED 04/11/18 08:14 AM
By Steve Benen
Donald Trump caused a bit of a stir late Monday afternoon, publicly speculating about firing Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Whether the president has the legal authority to do so directly, however, is a subject of some debate.
And yet, there was White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders telling reporters yesterday that Trump “certainly believes he has the power” to oust the special counsel.
There are multiple problems with this. First, by several accounts, it may be wrong. Second, Sanders’ comments suggest this has been the topic of some conversation at the White House, inching Team Trump closer to a possible crisis.
And third, it’s not just an academic exercise – because the president has already reportedly taken steps to fire Mueller. The New York Times reported overnight:
https://twitter.com/ANN7tv/status/984018665183105024
Instead of defending Mueller, some in GOP target him
04/11/18 09:20 AM
By Steve Benen
Late Monday, Donald Trump mused publicly about firing Special Counsel Robert Mueller, which meant there was quite a bit of chatter on Capitol Hill yesterday about what, if anything, lawmakers were prepared to do to shield the investigation from presidential interference.
Most congressional Republicans fell into one of two camps. The first group was made up of GOP lawmakers who shrugged off the president’s comments, assuming he was simply blowing off steam, and that the threat of Trump instigating such a crisis wasn’t real. The second group took the rhetoric a little more seriously, and indirectly warned Trump that even trying to fire Mueller would put his presidency in jeopardy.
But I was especially interested in the third group: the Republicans who aren’t just disinclined to support the special counsel’s work, but who are actually openly hostile toward it.
Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.), for example, seemed surprised when asked about effort to shield the special counsel. “To protect Mueller?” the Georgia Republican said. “I think it’s about time we get to the end of [the] investigation. This looks like an investigation that’s spiraling out of control.”
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) went a little further.
To the extent that reality matters, Mueller didn’t execute the search warrants on Cohen’s office and hotel; the U.S. attorney’s office in New York did.
Mueller didn’t abuse his authority, Rug head Rand. He turned over evidence to the proper authorities.
