Monday Open Thread | Sean Hannity Appears To Be In Legal Trouble As He Gets Caught In Russia Investigation

As it turns out, the indictment and impending prosecution of Roger Stone doesn’t just mean trouble for Stone himself, or even just for Donald Trump, who it has been said is likely to be the “senior Trump campaign official” named in the charging documents.

Inside the indictment, one passage spells out that Stone’s contact inside WikiLeaks, the primary conduit for releasing the illegally-hacked DNC emails, told him via email on August 2, 2016 to publicly begin focusing on the health of Hillary Clinton as a method of harming her competing campaign for the presidency.

“Would not hurt to start suggesting HRC old, memory bad, has stroke, neither he nor she well. I expect that much of next dump focus.”

Stone, however, had no major outlet through which to release information, and aside from that, could not appear to be getting information from outside sources.

At the time of that instruction, not even the Trump campaign had begun talking about Clinton’s health. Not even WikiLeaks had publicly begun their trickle of information about Hillary’s health yet. But somehow it shortly became a major talking point.

So how did that message start making the rounds? Fox News’ number one anchor, Sean Hannity, started talking about it just days later. And unless you believe that Hannity randomly guessed that her health would become a talking point — and we just don’t give Sean that much credit, honestly — it means that he got the information from somewhere. He certainly didn’t have anyone “inside” the Clinton campaign, or we’d have known it by now. Hell, we’d have known it by the day after the election, because he would have bragged about it.

So it’s likelier than not that WikiLeaks — who started the talk about it to begin with — gave information to Stone, who then passed it on to Sean Hannity, a man who has not just proven to be a mouthpiece for Donald Trump, but who Trump regularly consults with via telephone.

And although it’s a big “if,” the fact remains that this would make Sean Hannity a conspirator with Roger Stone to publish and disseminate illegally harvested private information from WikiLeaks, a group that was designated as a hostile foreign entity by our intelligence agencies before any of this ever happened.

And now that we’re at the end of the article, it’s time to remind you who Michael Cohen’s third client was at his legal practice, and how hard that client — Sean Hannity — worked to keep his name off the record in court.

If Hannity got word from Stone and knew it was from WikiLeaks, two things are true: It’s in the Mueller report, and Hannity is going to prison.

The very complicit, white-supremacist protector/apologist media …the advancers of all things right-wing… that’ve spent almost 2 weeks now dissecting Biden’s ‘touchy-feeliness’ …of course with the disclaimer that there was nothing actually sexual …and all complaints were strictly about ‘invading personal space’… but still prioritizing it anyway as top hot topic du jour for 10 straight days and counting … all while the criminal buffoon is testing just how far he can go with his plundering, grifting and dismantling of our democracy …and setting fires everywhere and every day, to distract and deflect as much as possible, to save his corrupt, traitorous b*tt..

The very same media who scolded, finger-wagged, called foul and convened literal firing squads for 8+ years, every single time the historic black family sneezed …are now all acting like impotent, castrated dogs on a steady supply of laughing gas..

The media has pretty much helped deflect attention from, trivializing and pooh-pooh-ing every credible charge …insisting there’s nothing that can be done about any of it, anyway …made light of and dismissed the serious criminality of a credibly accused multiple sexual assualter and corrupt treasonous buffoon.. And instead focused on legitimizing, protecting and advancing him and his interests …helping him shape the harebrained schemes and narratives he pulls out of his you know what after watching hours of television, erasing and laughing off his criminality and providing him with as many do-overs on the hour, every hour …as they profusely and reverently address him with the undeserved p honorific…

They’ve all mostly moved on now to not only helping him plot and map out his 2020 campaign and winning strategy – complete with how he already can’t be beaten and has this in the bag with his whopping 35% of the electorate …and with straight faces, even putting forth the agenda for his 2nd term and talking up his ‘genius’ and potential legacy with all the ‘greats’ …if he can just be a tad more disciplined …But even if he doesn’t they add..

The complicit media has already moved on ..And is focused on electing a criminal treasonous buffoon to yet another unearned term..

They might throw concerned patriotic Americans a stale bone every now and then, with some ‘breaking news’ ..And then quickly cut away right back to him on another one of his shenanigan sprees.. and then reel folks right back onto the ‘he’s winning and his base is still with him’ crap train..

The good news is that they’ll all write and release books come January 2021 …with all the ‘news’ and corroborating details that should have been shared with Americans… they’ll sell it to suckers instead in their books … And they’ll just go right on aiding and abetting … and ki-ki-ing as they all join in to actively help rehabilitate and mainstream the likes of Ms. Nelson, Nimrata Haley etc. with punditry gigs awaiting all the rest like Sara Huckabee, Stephen Miller etc…- even propelling John Kelly, John Bolton et al, to statesmen..and they’ll all sit and yuck it up together, playing pundit at roundtables with Scarborough, Jake Tapper, Chuck Todd etc. presiding..

Barack Obama is stuck in the past. He represents the old Democratic party
    Bhaskar Sunkara
The former president says he’s worried about ‘purity’ tests in the Democratic party. What he’s really worried about is his surrogates losing control of the party

Barack Obama is worried about the Democratic party. This weekend, he told a crowd at an Obama Foundation event in Berlin that the party is becoming a “circular firing squad” targeting those “straying from purity” on certain issues.

Leading figures around the party have indeed moved to the left since he left office two years ago. Thanks in no small part to the Bernie Sanders campaign and the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Medicare for All, free public higher education, a $15 minimum wage, and action on climate change have become mainstream positions.

The self-described “political mainstream” hasn’t caught up to this new reality, however. Obama’s former vice-president, Joe Biden, hasn’t announced his presidential candidacy yet, and is getting attacked not just for his behavior toward women but for a decades-long record that includes support for military interventions, mass incarceration, immigrant deportations, and more. The subtext of Obama’s remarks is this undermining of Biden.

Are things getting meaner? Maybe, the internet is a pretty terrible place. But few campaign seasons were more vitriolic than the 2008 Democratic primaries. Hillary Clinton called Obama “elitist and out of touch”, who couldn’t reach “hard-working Americans, white Americans”. For his part, Obama campaign’s negative ads about Clinton were recirculated by Trump in 2016.

By comparison, Bernie played softball in 2016. But he certainly gave voice to grassroots anger. People are fed up with the status quo, and they’re starting to demand more of their politicians. Incumbents used to moving to an imaginary center are running up against the fact that their “center” is an illusion. When most Americans support Medicare for All and a jobs guarantee, when they want an end to overseas wars, welcome unions, and even are starting to get comfortable with the idea of socialism, is it really “centrist” to stubbornly oppose all these things?

According to data from the TV News Archive[…] in the past week, Beto O’Rourke got the most coverage of any candidate on cable news, with Kamala Harris, Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker all at least 95 mentions behind. Jay Inslee, Andrew Yang and Tulsi Gabbard got next to no coverage.

Pete Buttigieg, who saw some favorable polling in Iowa and nationally this past week, was the only candidate who didn’t have a large reduction in media coverage from the previous week, but the overall amount of coverage he received was still modest compared with other major candidates.
