The Impeachment Trial of President Donald J. Trump

Today began the trial of Donald Trump. As set forth in the Constitution, the House of Representatives impeaches the President, but the trial about his removal takes place in the Senate.

As I have pointed out, the Founding  Fathers saw 45 coming. They anticipated someone as thoroughly corrupt as 45.

What they never anticipated was that an entire political party would turn their backs on their oath of office and this country.

We all knew that The Turtle would put up a sham. We knew that.

But, the Democrats brought it. One by one by one, starting with Congressman Adam Schiff, they broke it down like a fraction, and made plain the crimes of the one running the criminal enterprise at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Not one Republican showed any courage, and never should we forget this. Hold them accountable in November 2020!

Nice, @RepAdamSchiff is back and is eviscerating the bad faith executive privilege argument made by Republicans.

God, grant me the opportunity to be as ready for ONE THING in my life as much as Adam Schiff is ready for this moment.

The contrast between Schiff’s judicious sobriety and Sekulow’s greasy mendacious posturing couldn’t be more stark.

@RepAdamSchiff Schiff interlacing @realDonaldTrump’s own words is freaking brilliant.

@thenation Since elected Democrats seem to have trouble saying this, I’ll repeat this from my post for the people in the back:
FIFTY-ONE PERCENT of Americans support the removal of the President. SIXTY-NINE PERCENT of Americans want to hear Bolton testify.

McConnell just gave out with a tell. Wanted one vote on all Schumer amendments. Apparently doesn’t want an endless recitation of the facts. Schumer blew him up.
    Good job, Chuck.

Doing show & tell with emails between DOD & OMB, @RepJasonCrow is doing a masterful job of showing how redactions, instead of being legitimate, are likely concealing damaging information. And, he’s doing it right at the time most likely to have coast-to-coast audiences watching.

I sat in chamber for entire Schiff speech. That was a mauling. Trump team thought they were there to debate process and Schiff ambushed them with a full-throated case for impeachment. Republicans were visibly uncomfortable. Sekulow & Cippolone responses were rambling & bombastic
