On Wednesday, the Pentagon reported on its casualties website that a total of 18 American service members had been killed during the war in Iran.
By Thursday, the Defense Department had lowered that number, reporting that 14 American troops had been killed in the war.
Three military officials said that one reason behind the change was that the Trump administration decided to remove four service members killed this past weekend from the list — three in Jordan and one in northern Iraq — because their deaths occurred after President Trump declared a cease-fire in the war in April.
The officials described sensitive internal discussions on the condition of anonymity.
The acting press secretary for the Pentagon, Joel Valdez, attributed the change instead to “temporary data disruptions” on the website that he suggested would be quickly fixed.
Since the cease-fire collapsed, the Pentagon has provided little information about the American military strategy and has been slow to release information about troops’ injuries. The last major Pentagon briefing on the war was in early May.
The Defense Department has said that disclosing Iranian strikes on bases where U.S. troops are housed would compromise operational security.
The Pentagon withheld information about three Iranian strikes last week in Jordan that injured dozens of U.S. service members and damaged several helicopters, according to several U.S. officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss operational matters.
After an Iranian strike in Jordan on Friday killed three soldiers, the Pentagon’s chief spokesman, Sean Parnell, acknowledged that the number of U.S. military casualties since July 7 had risen to nearly 100.
Defense Department officials say they are bound by law to report troop deaths, but not injuries. Critics, including Democratic senators, say the Trump administration is obligated to inform the public about the conduct of the war.
“The administration seems to have a real hard time being honest about what is going on — not just about casualties, but about the whole war in general,” said retired Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, who commanded U.S. forces in Europe at the start of Mr. Trump’s first term.
General Hodges said that downplaying deaths during war indicated “an unwillingness or inability to aggressively learn from mistakes.”

JT is going to lose some of his support because the reality of every race in a swing state/district or attempted flip from red to blue means a Democrat HAS TO juice turnout in the Black Community.
Once he realized he needed the Black Vote he had to pivot & talk about issues

What a lot of folks aren’t grasping is our rights, freedoms, and prosperity weren’t and never will be yours to gamble with in the voting booth. We’ve been taking the heat here in America for 250 years & too many of y’all just didn’t GAF about that.
There’s literally NOTHING happening in this country right now that wasn’t done in the past or present where Black Folks weren’t the test subjects.
Exporting racism from America is how we got the Holocaust, the horrible shit in the ME, and the rise of hate pretty much everywhere in the world.
From climate change to mass murder…almost all of it can be traced back to racism in America & Jim Crow laws.
Short story long…if JT or any candidate wants to win outside of safe blue areas they’re going to have to talk about those issues.
They’re damn sure going to have to talk about it after the last 10 years but especially everything that has happened over the last 2 years.
In a normal non-racist and racism enabling environment this wouldn’t be controversial because stopping racism & protecting the Black Community is what helped fuel progress for EVERYONE but this isn’t that environment.
Like it or not…he’s going to have to do it & so is everyone else that wants to win because Black Folks are exhausted & sick of the bs🤷🏾♀️
That’s going to cost him & others votes but the math without them doing it is even bleaker.

Talarico’s campaign went all in to win the primary and did. They got the primary opponent they wanted. The mistakes they made have been numerous. They thought the national souring on Trump would translate to Texas and it hasn’t. They are relying on being able to flip and turn out Whites and Latinos.

1: White Christian Nationalism goes against Scripture at every turn. The Black church has always known this. Here’s the breakdown. 🧵👇🏾
2: Jesus declared “My kingdom is not of this world.” (John 18:36) Galatians 3:28 says we are ALL one in Christ. God’s covenant runs through faith – never race or nationality.
3: Genesis 1:27 – every human carries the full image of God. Any theology that ranks races in divine standing calls God a liar. That’s not doctrine. That’s heresy.
4: The historical Jesus was a brown-skinned Middle Eastern Jew living under Roman occupation. He identified with the marginalized (Matthew 25:35-40). He built downward – always.
5: Slaveholders quoted Ephesians 6:5 and buried Exodus and Galatians. Selective scripture has always served as a tool of control. The Black church recognized that manipulation from day one progressive politics. That’s the gospel of Jesus Christ.
6: Exodus. Isaiah 61:1. Luke 4:18. The entire biblical arc moves toward liberation for the oppressed. That’s not progressive politics. That’s the gospel of Jesus Christ.
7: The Black church didn’t survive 400 years by accident. We read the whole Bible. We know the difference between the Jesus of Scripture and the Jesus of empire.
